Hey Guys! A few notes about the video. The timing in the this song is quite loose at such a slow tempo. I made my best efforts to make the blue line match up with rhythm figures and this can get quite time consuming if I'm really crunching down hard on it. So if you are slowing the video down to get the tab right, really use your ears along with what I have tabbed out to make both match up in certain parts. Feel it out is the most important thing. Also, I've changed the tempo by a few clicks to avoid my video being blocked but it is still blocked in some countries which I am in the process of disputing. I don't think you would feel the change much considering it's at such a slow tempo in 12/8 timing. The studio recording fluctuates in tempo in any case and what I did was get an average of the overall tempo. I've had bad luck with matching tempo completely to songs in the past. Two examples: You Shook Me All Night Long and Metallica's One. The algorithms of these videos was affected as a result so I'm trying my best to avoid this for the future. Quite a challenging song to tab out but I love challenges. Had a lot of fun with this one! Hope you enjoy learning this song as much as I did!
Excellent Cover!!! by the way a suggestion. I see that there are so many variants on the tab, maybe you can add the song tone and scales used on it, so we can have a better Idea of what scales we should have on mind while playing the song and avoid problems learning it. Thanks for sharing!!

First of all, brilliant cover. Really well played. Second, can we all take a moment and acknowledge the sheer brilliance of this song? Page's composition here is masterful. HIs guitar playing ebbs and flows, building perfectly to match the emotions of the song. His soloing is brilliant (of course), but every note he plays is so tasteful, so creative. So far beyond the "play this for verse, and this for chorus, rinse and repeat' formula. This is like a mozart piece, every note has its place and purpose. What a song. What a band. What a player!
Absolutely agree. Page, like Gilmour or Mark Knopfler for example, ever built logical, intelligent solos, with a incredible melodic taste (you can sing every note). Light years distance from some "shredders", that play only useless iper speedy scales, tricks, and more...Some Page solos tells a story, with a begin, a center and a end. He works with brain, not only with fingers.
After 5 years of trying and at 66 years old I'm still very much a beginner. I've been trying to learn this for ages and thought I was playing the first few sections fairly well. Watching this has made me realise that I'm hitting the right notes but my phrasing is very wrong. Damn!!!! :-) Great cover of what is one of my favourite Led Zeppelin songs.

When any song is played perfectly, I can play all of the drum part perfectly and exactly where they belong. I played with 2 Guitarists, 1- BareFoot John and @- Dave Brimlow, Who unfortunately passed away 20 years ago. So, The only guitarist that could play everything exactly like the record was Barefoot John. As a player for around 43 years I can recognise talent and you've got plenty,i'm mystified as to the thumbs down, all I can say is they must be some players...or just assholes.
I knew much of this in the early 80s (Led Zeppelin Complete & Complete for guitar was about ALL the tab we had back then, a lot we filled in by ear) prior to the internet & TH-cam. I've recently started going hard at it again & you blew this one away, that's WHY I subscribe to you, and hey I'm 60+ and looking very forward to brushing up with your videos. Killer tab & playing 👍
Only needs one word, superb. A lot of people would play this in paint by numbers mode but as the musically uneducated Simon Cowel would say, you nailed it.
Absolutely love this song. So many dynamics, feel, emotion, power. Thank you Sir for your time and effort transcribing this and amazing playing too. I’ll never get the solo down note for note but getting close. Think the trick is listening to the chord changes Cm Fm Gm and outlining those chords at the right times.
Magnificant job. Not just in the Tab but the authentic style and feel. I always wished Page could more closely follow his lead on this song live. Alas,I've never heard a version and I've listened to MANY. Job well done. Take a break, you probably need one!
I agree. Especially for this song, improvisation in a live setting kind of weakens the studio effort. In saying that perhaps the studio cut was just one of those rare moments where he nailed it by improvising and then he couldn't really duplicate it live,. Also, as much as I love Jimmy Page, I think in a live setting he was quite often suffering from either too much "indulgence" or just couldn't pull off a lot of his studio work.
Always hear those people saying you can read their mind, well I guess you really can haha. Just days ago I was listening to this song on repeat for an eternity and then looked it up, to search a video which had a tab implemented and couldn’t find any, and then you drop this bomb! I appreciate it man
How long have you been plaing guitar and how do you learn all of these song do you learn them by yourself/by ear or do you have any other method that you use? And can you ever make a guitar collection video?
This has to be Jimmy page’s greatest song. This is incredible from start to finish, so much emotion was put into this. This song deserves more attention because this is an absolute masterpiece and that’s by Led Zeppelin’s standards which are already extremely high
@@joejones9520 One word, Dedication. ;) Theres a reason why musicians get paid for their art. It is pretty impressive that some have a catalogue of songs memorized.
@@joejones9520 It is pretty easy actually. I haven't touched a guitar (to actually play on my own) for 5 or 6 years and I can still remember whole 5 minute or even 8 minutes songs by heart beacause i put so much time learning them. So now apply this to someone that does that for a living for years and you see it is pretty easy. The hard part is writing that shit not remembering it.
That's exactly how I've been playing it all these years! I can't believe it.. Joking aside. You can't get your head around that Page created this years ago. I'm sure he played it differently every time they played live. Possibly one of his best solos. That or the live one of No Quarter.. Difficult enough to learn it but again creating it just shows you what a great guitarist he was when he was in his prime. Fantastic! Thanks for the lesson..👍

To any true aged and seasoned Zeppelinite still around kicking and hopefully jamming from the Hammer of the Gods days...and later aficionados as well...I first saw Page play this live in Baltimore between '70 and '72 and he sounded much closer to the recording on Zep III than the versions in later compilations... but even though l watched him with binoculars from the mezzanine since l could still see Zep without someone else standing up in front of me...and the pot smoke was so thick at times it was a real challenge to even see the stage...and even though l also saw most of the other phenomenal rock and blues artists over the next thirty plus years...l commend the guitarist in this video on his interpretation and virtuosity of duplicating Page's stylistic nuances in this quiet little blues tune from Zeps heyday...FYI...the concert ticket read ...An Evening with Led Zeppelin...for $6.95...around three hours plus two encores...l think that one might have called that a bargain !

I'm 60. I need about ten more years to be able to do this. Will I make it? Haha. It will be fun trying. Love to all that fall in love with guitar. Rock On!
One the best Blues songs ever!! I just love it! Thanks for your effort to transcribe it for us mortals. Stay safe and rock on! Cheers!
JP is such a master of timing and phrasing just when you think he’s missed a lick there it is.
I bet you couldn't play this song at this level without that shirt!
Thank you, Mr. Tabs. Learned this with about 80% accuracy long ago, but there are so many nuggets too tricky for my ears to pick out. This is a gift to humanity 🙏🙏
That was excellent! I can only imagine how long it took to make this video. That was very impressive!
@@mrfairact8662 beat me to it 😂
Only needs one word, superb. A lot of people would play this in paint by numbers mode but as the musically uneducated Simon Cowel would say, you nailed it.
THAT SONG
(Perfect Cover!)
Wow, thanks, absolutely fantastic. This used to have me in tears when Page played it and it just did that again. Well played!
That tone is perfect yet again. You might be the most consistent guitarist on TH-cam.
『♪貴女を愛し続けて』ですよね🎵
レッド・ツェッペリンの楽曲の中でもいちばん好きです。すばらしい演奏をありがとう😉👍🎶
Another brilliant demonstration of how it’s done! Cheers mate
@@luzdaviola one of the problems is that his studio efforts were often the overlay of many guitar tracks which can't be duplicated in a live setting..
@@jameslundquist3936 yes that is true.
Gotta be the ultimate blues song and solo. One of the Holy Grails!
Very nice! You got the grace notes which most guys miss!
Blimey. That’s impressive. Well done. Probably one of the greatest rock solos of all time.
A big thank you ! Never have I heard (and enjoyed) such an accurate rendition. SUBSCRIBED.
Absolutely amazing......Timing, feeling, tone etc; 🎸
Mr Tabs is a truly amazing guitarist, close your eyes and you think it's Jimmy Page. 👍
Brilliant! Well done mate. One of Jimmy's finest moments in guitar on this song I think and you did it justice. Not an easy task by any means.
This has to be Jimmy page’s greatest song. This is incredible from start to finish, so much emotion was put into this. This song deserves more attention because this is an absolute masterpiece and that’s by Led Zeppelin’s standards which are already extremely high
Beautiful... this is what I will be learning over the weekend.
Because of you, Mr. Tabs, I can play the song in its entirety. Thank you.
Listening to this really made me miss plants voice alot lol.
i like this better but goddam how could anyone ever learn all this?
@@joejones9520 One word, Dedication. ;)
Theres a reason why musicians get paid for their art.
Fantastic! Thanks for the lesson..👍
everyone asks you for covers and so on, but nobody asks how are you
PD:
How are you??
Pretty good thanks for asking! My brain hurt a little after trying to get these rhythm figures correct lol, but all is good now.
@@Mr.Tabs.Guitar.Lessons good to know you are good bro!!!
I'm sure he's tired. He's been working from 7 to 11 every night. 😴
@@gtrman69777 Ha-ha! Best reply ever!
@@gtrman69777 I don’t think that’s right ... 🤔
Immaculately played and insanely accurately transcribed. I'm VERY impressed 👍
i can play the first solo, time to learn the second one
I barely can play stairway to heaven solo 😭
@@Eryk.Burkharth I can barely play stairway to heaven 😭
@@Eryk.Burkharth but that's a very good one mate :)
Bien ahí y aguante Charly!
@@Shadyblood-mm1wr I can barely hit the play button 😭
Thank you!!! I'm 13 years old and this is one of my favourite songs, I learn every song with your videos, I've been playing classic guitar for 5 years and a month ago I got an electric guitar, I can't play the solo yet but with your video I've learned the rest of the song
Outstanding cover of Jimmy's awesome playing and great presentation with camera perspective and rolling tablature. Only with this level of assistance can I hope to finally learn the whole song. Thank you!
That was a labor of love. This is one of the greatest, least appreciated solos ever. You have done a commendable job with every part of your presentation. I'm a good player telling another good player good job.
As another comment said, if not for you, I wouldn't have listened to LZ today.
Thank you very much.
This song is a Jimmy Page Masterpiece. Thanks for the video.
You wanna fill in the blank.

Said I've been crying, my tears they fell like rain
Best I've seen of this song. Thank you.
Best Page Blues/Rock solo/song. Just perfect. Coolest tone/blues in rock.
Best guitar channel on TH-cam! Well played and extremely accurate. Keep on the good work, you’re a true professional musician:)
This just confirms that the only guitarist above Jimmy as the greatest of all time is another Jimi as in Hendrix, 1 and 2 in my GOAT list 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
Amazing video! It has been very helpful as I stopped playing like 6 years ago and now I’m giving it a try again, this makes it a lot easier !
hope your doing kashmir next
I’m 14 and play guitar.
This is so helpful for me!
I can play most of this song but there’s a few licks and tricks I struggle with, but I’m getting there.
I love this song, I love Led Zeppelin, thxs
this should have 100M views and likes
I’m guessing this is where jimmy learned it.
It has so much feeling and bluesy sadness, very moving.
This is a gem. . I'm so excited to learn it note by note. Terima kasih
C'est magistral, magnifique. Un grand plaisir de réentendre ce morceau d'anthologie et de le voir jouer de la sorte. 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👏
Okay, to be honest tho. I come here just to see you play these covers & not even try to learn it. Lol
Can you do communications breakdown as your next Led Zeppelin song in like 2 months, and can you also do sweet emotion for the next Aerosmith song
I totally agree with one of the "reviews" of your post, This is the best interpretation / lesson for this title that we can find! ..... and you clearly deserve your custom Gibson (just kidding) ........ Me, I'm finger guitar .... and high level ........ With confinement I decided to put me on the electric guitar .. and I was looking for a guitarist playing note by note this title with the feeling that you have ........... (which, of course does not prevent everyone from customize this title) .. and I finally found it! yes this title is not so easy!
It's great! THANK YOU!
Thuis is going to be awesome. I can't wait to try what I can with this one.
Thank you for doing this. That hauntingly beautiful thing on the turnaround will evade me no more. Run!
that was BadAss 👍😊
This song.... not just band or Jimmy.... this specific song is why I learned guitar.
Один в один. Великолепно!
That is without a shadow of doubt the best version of SIBLY I have seen & heard since the original. Absolutely stupendous! It actually made me a bit emotional watching it. I salute you, you totally nailed it in every way, the technique, the nuances & subtlety, especially the tone. 👏👏👏
Thanks! Rock on!
Could you dress up like knopfler and do sultans of swing?
Thank you Mr.Tabs. You certainly knew what we were all waiting for with this number. You've inspiring lots of us to keep rocking. Cheers!
There is an interview with Terry Manning, the engineer behind this song, and he talks about that moment. The one take solo, the feeling of being recording a world classic, the kick's pedal sound. Truly amazing.
