I just picked up an old Model B for FREE from a community buy sell swap page. I'm going to give it a refresh and get it back to its former glory!

I first tried the Model B in 1988 when I was 14 years old. I had a part time job moving office furniture at SPAR Aerospace in Montreal (they built the Canada Arm for the space shuttle). The building was one of the most impressive facilities I had ever seen at the time. Built in the 60's but updated for the 90's. They had a gym onsite (which I found very unusual). They had lots of gear but the Model B caught my attention in a big way. I found the watt meter very intriguing and tried to see what I could pull... To the best of my recollection, I recall hitting about 87 watts average for the few minutes I was on it. But I do vividly recall how SMOOTH the unit was. Like nothing I had ever used before.

I have a D and a B. The B is more robust and heavier resistance. The flaws were the noise and storage+ footplates & The D is a big upgrade in many ways but the B can give you an amazing workout and can be upgraded to be a D on steroids. I see then on fb for nearly nothing. It's still my favorite machine and shouldn't be overlooked!

    I love my Concept2 Model B.
I'm still using it since I bought it brand new back in '88.
Best piece of exercise equipment EVER!

Can you tell me how to get the monitor case off to change the batteries on model B? After removing rubber bumper, Instructions say to use your fingernail and slide it down and off...but where do you put your fingernail????

I also used the B long ago, and simply never liked the feel of the C nearly as much. It was tamed a bit, and not for the better.

I got my Model B about the same time. I've had to upgrade a couple of performance monitors and cords, but it keeps on rolling. And, yes. It is the best piece of exercise equipment ever.

I love my model C, it's an iconic design and honestly difficult to improve upon. I also love how you keep on delivering parts even for the old models, keeping up the resale value which actually also helps you selling a new machine, as people know they will get a good price for it 2nd hand if they want to upgrade or if they don't want to row anymore. Great business model, keep it up!

Model C is arguably the best of the A, B, C, D and E. It’s the best combination of well (over) built, ergonomic, quiet and modern.

I currently have both a Concept2 Model B (for sale) and a Concept2 Model D. Even the older Model B is a tremendous machine to row on compared to all the other brands out there and I'd take my Concept B at 30 years old over them. I cannot believe how much these older versions have retained and even increased their value. Well Done, Peter and Dick!

First worked out on a Model A back in the 80's while in the Navy. Lost a ton of weight in no time. Bought a Model B after the Navy but sold that a few years later. Now 35 years later, just bought a near mint Model B and looking forward to getting back into shape.

Massive difference between A and B. A looks like it was made in the 1920's.

Ben, if you can believe it the A started revolutionizing rowing training and indoor rowing! Times definitely change.

My favorite piece of gym equipment. I started on a hydraulic rower at the YMCA in Minneapolis in the sixties, graduated to the
open fan version in the seventies and eighties because it was closest to mimicking actual rowing and am now enjoying the model E at our club here in Florida. Luckily, most gym rats stay away from the Concept 2. More time for the rest of us to enjoy
one of the all-around best workouts in the room!

i bought a 2017 model d with 12 millions meters, but it looks like new. I inspected and cleaned it. Should I be worried?

Need to get a PM6 that provides better analytics. Seeing one’s average power curve as a graphic with 95% range about the mean would be so good for training. One should also be able to see the predicted split time, much more useful than accumulated time or avg pace. Lastly, the Erg itself should have a centre bracket below the pm5 to easily attach an elastic band for training. The handle grips should come in smaller diameters, the seat should be more ergonomic-cut out for seat bones, larger screen in high definition colour with touch for the pm6 with a lightning cable for iPhone. Make the phone bracket in two sizes, mine snapped trying to get my phablet in there.

I am from Munich and bought my first erg, the A-modell, in 1981 in Lucerne. It was phantastic. Now I row on a D-Modell but I would prefer the seat from the A or the B.
