Ambient Guitar: Memories (Godin Multiac Steel, Strymon Timeline and BigSky, Fishman Aura Spectrum)

This composition appeared as a result of exploring Strymon Timeline's reverse delay and BigSky's cloud reverb. One more thing I should point out is that besides two outputs from BigSky I recorded direct out from Aura as well. Later it gave me more potential in forming the "Memories" sound.
Aura Spectrum sophisticated algorithm was invented to "restore" instrument's natural sound, as if it was not picked up from piezzo, but from microphones in a studio.
I raised clear guitar sound from Aura a bit over the reverb and delay sound and added some light acoustic space to it. Finally you can hear both huge reverse delay with cloud reverb and distinctive guitar sound.
As you see what I play in this composition is actually very simple. The good idea about playing with huge spacy reverbs and delays is to alter your playing dynamics in right hand -- let some sounds burst forth and leave a long sparkling tail before you play the next chord quiet...

Wow, amazing! This is the proof that a few notes can sound much better than a ton of notes at the speed of light and that you can be a guitarist and an artist even without tapping, sweep picking, string skipping and so on!

I’ve got the fishman aura, convinced after noticed you used it a lot, and love it. Adds a bit of grit or woodsy presence and space that’s hard to describe. Tried playing it live and hated it, but for recording super useful with piezo pick up guitars.

GREAT stuff! How important was the Aura to get that sound? I realize the reverb and delay are doing a lot of work, but how important is the aura to your overall tone? Wonderful!
In my practice think Aura is absolutely needed with Godin Nylon. It is a question if it is the must for a steel string guitar with piezo. It is good to have this option in recording, but doesn't always sound good in live mix on stage... When I used it with Godin Steel I tried to record both clean and sound from Aura 100% and mixed and processed them individually in DAW.

Great vid! BTW which preset for Fishman Aura DI works best with steel stringed Godin? Just got mine yesterday - before that only used nylon presets on DI
+disinsider Thanks!. Well.. as for steel Godin I play some from "dreadhought" section... and to my strong believe you should mix clear and AURA signals not inside the box, but in some mixer - because it gives some unpleasant phase shifts when you mix with "blend" knob...

Beautiful--been really enjoying all of your videos as of late. Quick question: What settings on the Aura do find to work best with the Godin Multiac Steel? Do you have a favorite set of images?
thanx) as for combination Godin Steel and Aura it is not so obvious as with Nylon... Most likely I would recomend to mix both signals... and best is to mix them not on board of Aura but in an external mixer... trying also switching signal phase...
I didn't make up my mind about any favorite preset with Steel... I think I choose depending on what I play at the moment and what kind of sound I need...

+rctrance cannot say for sure now, but it is reverse delay of coz, time fits the tempo, and I used to tweak amount so that I could hear repetitions, but they didn't sound too loud... no idea what reverb preset it was)
Sounds awesome!... How do you upload to TH-cam? I mean, i know you recorded yourself playing your Godin, but how do you get the audio so clear? Do you go right into the camera audio input or something? How do you get the sound into the file before you upload?... Thanks...
thanx! well...)))) this is easy and complicated in one and the same time - depending on your computer skills... My "chain" is: guitar - Aura Spectrum - Strymon Timeline - Strymon BigSky - Lexicon Omega USB soundcard - Sony Vaio - Cubase (software). Also (I wrote about it in the vid description) I directed output from Aura to the 3rd input of Omega to mix clear sound if needed... The rest is your experience in recording and mixing... After mixing I get WAV file that substitute audio in video file from Canon 550d in any video editing software

This is really good. I'm looking for pieces like this that convey solitude and reflection more so than sadness, if you catch my meaning (Electric ambient). So If you know of anything you'd recommend I'd be glad to hear it.
+mdc0rqj ) I'm not really an expert in ambient music - I'm a musician and it's a bit different thing)... Some last works of Brian Eno are good (LUX, for example)... and there is a very good guitarist - Leo Abrahams, listen to his Scene Memory (2006)
