It’s not just hate; it’s people that have never gone out of their environment and have a scarcity mindset. They never went out of the barrio or the Bronx ghetto, never tried to improve themselves, never learned English, never listened to different perspectives, always waiting for handouts and pity. Then they see Dominicans that made it in their own country and they neither made it here nor there, so in their minds it must be that the person did something illegal to get that money, because since they couldn’t make it, no one else can.

While listening to Jonah's story of growing up here in the U.S , i swear...a lot of it is very similar to my upbringings. I was born and raised in Brooklyn N.Y ,but every summer growing up, my parents would take us to Santiago Dominican Republic and going to the campo to see our grandparents (Sajoma)...Made me as a kid, appreciate all the things we had growing up in NYC. We grew up knowing that at noon when mom had cooked a large pot of what ever she had cooked, we had to take a plate to our neighbors house, not just one neighbor, but 6 different neighbors house...our neighbors were our family. When we had blackouts, all the kids in my block would come to my house or we would go to a neighbors house, and there would be 12 to 16 kids...."haciendo cuentos" talking about what was going on, even homework and the older kids in the hood would help us with the homework....We relied on each other. Those little things taught me alot , it taught me alot about values , respect and the true meaning of family....and it wasnt necessarily your blood familiy. I love the fact that we have some of it still alive in our culture! Also its true about Punta Cana, i just bought an apt in Bavaro and dont get me wrong...i love it, but the culture is not there. That Dominican charm is not in Punta Cana, its just a very relax and laid back lifestyle in Punta Cana. The good thing about the DR is that it is 1 hour and 45 minutes from the US, so you can come to the US for the weekend, a short and quick trip. I have even met people who traveled to the US every week to work. US to DR
The problem with life in the US is not that you are bad, it is the system, the tax pressure, a lot of pressure to be able to pay your expenses, a super stressful life, working a lot to make ends meet, in DR life is more relaxed without many problems, a country that has everything you need in terms of technology, you find everything you have here in the US, even better in some cases. Hey Jay. Very interesting topic and title. The American Dream has had many iterations in USA history. Now it may be best achieved in a global context. Perhaps you may poll your viewers: When did the American Dream die? 1) On 9/11 2) GFC Great Financial Crisis 2008-2010 3) COVID-19 Pandemic 2020-2022
@@victorsmith7567 With all due respect, the American Dream is not dead for all Americans. Don't forget that, at the moment, America is the richest country in the world. In fact, America is the richest country that has ever existed in human history. Many Americans (of all races and ethnicities) thrive here and live very satisfying lives. As a consequence, for Americans who have sufficient financial resources, not only is the American dream alive and well, living in America is the next best thing to living in Paradise. If you think I'm making this up, go to any upscale, peaceful, seaside community in southern California (where I live). Sun, sand, surf, year-round beautiful weather, money in your pocket, money in the bank, no job, no side hustle (I'm retired) and not a worry in the world. Trust me, if you're one of the lucky ones, the American Dream is alive and well. 😎🌞
The best line was, “people in America work 2 to three jobs to come to The DR to vacation for a week” I’m moving there as soon as I sell my house here in America I will be living in Puerto Plata, building some Condos and single family houses with a old friend and business partner
He looks so young to be in his 30s. It is not interesting 🧐 he grow up in Texas and very close to the Dominican culture. I grew up in a very heavily predominantly white American environment. It was very hard for me to be close to my Haitian culture. I did not know anything about Dominican Republic until I was eight years old. My dad told me that my grandmother was born DR and grow up her life in Haiti. She was 25% Dominican.
35 to 40 years ago you didn't see Dominican in the south. Of course I'm sure there were some sprinkled here and there but it wasn't a community like in NY, Boston, Philly, etc.
What’s up brother born in NY parents are from DR would love to move out there that’s the game plan. You should make a video on kids schooling how we should go about that
We have our Achievement Week in Puerta Plata Nov. 17th and MLK weekend we have our Talent in Santo Domingo and a major community service project in Sabana De La Mar that Sunday.....

Shout out from the DMV. I'm planning on moving to the DR in 2 years. I'm always looking for opportunities and local partners to identify areas of needs in the DR. Also, we're all immigrants. We should lose the "Expat" title.
This is a very good interview. I’m sending it to my Dominican wife and her cousin who lives in Florida
Interesting conversation guys ,but i got it go to sleep, i finish it tomorrow, itis 11:40 pm.right now

Bro I love your content 🔥 🇩🇴
Thanks family🙏
Hey Jay. Very interesting topic and title. The American Dream has had many iterations in USA history. Now it may be best achieved in a global context.
Perhaps you may poll your viewers:
When did the American Dream die?
1) On 9/11
2) GFC Great Financial Crisis 2008-2010
3) COVID-19 Pandemic 2020-2022
This is a good topic to discuss. Maybe my wife and I will discuss it. Thanks for the suggestion.
Happy you found happiness
The best line was, “people in America work 2 to three jobs to come to The DR to vacation for a week”
I’m moving there as soon as I sell my house here in America
I will be living in Puerto Plata, building some Condos and single family houses with a old friend and business partner
Awesome, congratulations bro.
What do you mean it's not interesting? And not interesting to who?
@@JayAbroad I meant to say he is interesting in the Dominican culture while living Texas inspected he did not see a lot of people like him.
35 to 40 years ago you didn't see Dominican in the south. Of course I'm sure there were some sprinkled here and there but it wasn't a community like in NY, Boston, Philly, etc.
@@JayAbroad True!!!
I know there are many of them in PA.
Nice!!!!
Great video❤
Thank you!!
What’s up brother born in NY parents are from DR would love to move out there that’s the game plan. You should make a video on kids schooling how we should go about that
I'm working on a video about that. Thanks for the suggestion.
Awesome video
Thanks!
Very nice guy Jay. You need to hang out with my fraternity Omega Psi Ph when we have our next event
Appreciate it. When is your next event and where is it?
We have our Achievement Week in Puerta Plata Nov. 17th and MLK weekend we have our Talent in Santo Domingo and a major community service project in Sabana De La Mar that Sunday.....
Maybe I can catch the one in Santo Domingo for MLK weekend.
How does one move to DR? Other than getting married to a local or being a rich investor, what are the options for normal folks?
Find a a remote job and move or move here and find work which I don't recommend doing.
Yo that NFl team and NBA team would sure be nice I'm coming with it
😅😅
I love being dominican 🇩🇴 🤪 I wouldn't have it any other way.
We are the best!
Because people like to GENERALIZE
Coming to Santo Domingo in a couple weeks. Would like to have a cigar with you if you have time… not sure how to get in touch with you
