I mean I wasn't a fan of the suit before but it's starting to get there. Personally based on the photos of David bulking up looking like he's in beast mode it just seems like this suit doesn't showcase that at all. You don't need fake muscles or airbrushed Abs to Showcase someone's true physique. But again the suit makes sense for this movie.
even the mcu suits have heaps of padding, even the mos suits have padding, I think for this suit, all the looseness and bagginess could be forgiven if they added more padding to his chest and shoulders, this feels like the ant man suit in terms of how it makes his physique look, if they added padding to the chest and shoulders, he'd take on more of a chris evans captain america suit physique
I just wish they'd do away with that freakin collar ... Yeah the thick tactical stuff looks a bit weird especially with the big trunks and hyper bright primary colors, .. but eh .. It looks pretty ok in the trailer. I think I'm starting to get where he's coming from with these costumes. I'll never be ok with the collar though. I don't know why designers and illustrators continue to do that with the costume. Started that bullcrap with the New 52 and they're still DOING IT. I absolutely hate the damn collar. The armored stuff is still kind of annoying .. but at least it's not plate metal or something like they make it look in some of the comics and video games. I'm totally down with a classic Silver Age look .. but enough with all the extra doodads and unnecessary piping , pads, etc. The movie looks fun .. Hope it's good.
I really really wanna believe that this suit is a corporation suit that he got along with The Terrifics.. You can see some similar design elements between all of them… And this is totally my prediction, the suit is gonna be more and more damaged by the end of the movie (as we can see in the trailer that the suit is severely damaged as the trailer progresses on), by the end, he’s gonna get a new suit that was made by his mom (a nod to the comic) that is more classic and more form fitting and little skin tight, and he looks a lot closer to the classic Superman… I hope this is true.. But maybe not.. Who knows.. I’m just being optimistic..
Yeah I get that james didn't want superman to look intimidating, but I don't think superman having a skin tight suit would've caused that. Like if it was tighter the suit would've been perfect imo
The fake muscles/skin tight isn’t what he’s talking about for threatening and I rather have some wrinkles then fake muscle pads from Henry even though Henry suit does look good. Excluding the bvs suit.
@@jingleballs9935every modern actor that’s worn a tight suit has worn a muscle suit because the suits compress the muscles so much and it destroys muscle definition
They need to get rid of the collar ... Keep the Fruit of the Looms .. but get rid of that annoying COLLAR. I hate when they draw him that way too. It just bugs the hell out of me. NO MORE COLLAR.
Remember when Christopher Reeve was thinking about telling Margot Kidder while her back was turned? He took the glasses off, straightened up, and he TRANSFORMED into Superman without even showing a costume? Nobody has duplicated that.
Hollywood keeps trying to recreate Reeves Superman and keeps failing. Again it's obvious they are doing it again. No one is going to replace Reeve. That new suit looks cheap.
@ How do you know it’s cheap? Did the producers tell you how much it cost? Don’t knock them off until you’ve seen the movie. I keep hearing people moaning and then say oh it’s good.
Come on people, we are ALL Superman fans. Let's enjoy it together!!! You ARE entitled to your own opinion. You are NOT entitled to use your opinion to spread a hateful attitude.
Deny it as you want, the suit doesn't match with source material, it supposed to be like slim fit suit so it could be worn underneath clothing. Like what classic Superman do when he about to be in action
@ so you’re mad that you think he can’t wear this under normal clothes but you’re willing to overlook the 6 foot blanket hanging off his back where tf he put that?
Omg I figured out why this suit looks so familiar to me.... Most of the aesthetics of this suit look very similar to the Captain America and MCU outfits.
@@danielwoodsthelastblaxionh7626 the difference is Cap America's first movie suit was still tapered to demonstrate Chris Evan's V Shape muscular figure. This suit is not. The waistline is far too blocky, making it look like spongebob square pants, and making the legs look out of proportion, also making the shoulders look narrow. It's objectively NOT a good look
Well, if you don't want fake muscles fine, but make a suit that actually fits and shows that you are muscular, because you're playing Superman... They did it in 1978, so I feel confident they could do it now... He definitely won't be wearing this suit under his street clothes
Apparently too hard for Gunn to do it because this is the first Superman suit we've ever seen where you can't tell if he has muscles or not, and that is just absurd... The same thing with the comment about wanting the shorts, so kids aren't afraid of him.... Are kids afraid of their fathers who wear their underpants on the inside? It's just ridiculous but I expect this whole movie to be cheesy and ridiculous simply because James Gunn is the one making it...smdh
We’re about to watch a movie about an alien that wears a red and blue suit fighting giant fire spitting monsters, but the line you won’t cross is the suit not being able to fit under his clothes? My gosh, bro, just imagine it does. I swear, you guys just NEED to see problems everywhere
This movie will definitely prove to me that accuracy in design choices aren’t as necessary as storytelling is. This is the only superhero film I want to see this year period. I don’t care what people say im sold on this Superman
Oh my god. Something has been tickling my brain ever since I saw him (poor Nathan Fillion...) but I couldn't put my finger on it. This is exsctly what it was.
@@iJunzy Comics are static pieces of fictional art meant to convey an idea, personality or action without movement or at times even context, and Guy Gardner in particular was conceived in the '60s with '60s aesthetics and styles in mind (bowl cut was super popular in the '60s). Rarely do these things translate well in to a cinematic landscape with real people without some sort of tweaking. The Guy Gardner in the trailer is a prime example of that. Cletus Kasady's original hair at the end of the first Venom movie is another.
@@Sisren86. The Green Lantern movie with Ryan Reynolds had better GL uniforms than this Guy Gardner. It just looks like it's black and white. No green except for the ring itself. I'd rather have him in his leather vest jacket with the green lantern insignia on it.
How can you have the tallest Superman but make him look so small, I feel bad for the guy working out for it, but not showing at all. Superman needs to feel larger than life, and have a suit that looks like you can't make it at home. Unless this is a year 1 type suit and he will get a nice almost skin fitting adjustment, cause this really isn't it. It's impressive for a cosplay suit, not a summer blockbuster.
I’m a big fan of Superman . I watched Smallville since it aired and its season finale. Remember watching Superman returns like 5 times in the theater when I was young and single hehe. Now I’m 43 with a family I will be content on seeing once hehe. I will always support Kal el.
If he didn’t want a fake muscle suit, they should’ve designed a suit that actually shows off his physique. There’s videos of him training for the role, and he did get pretty jacked. Christopher Reeve proved 46 years ago that you don’t need fake muscles. They should’ve capitalized on that. We’ll see how it works in 7 months I guess.
Hahaha That's fucking gay dude. Totally gay. That is coming from a gay guy. You can't see his muscles? We can see his physique. We all see how jacked he is. WTF.
I thought we got over the whole biker jacket superhero costume thing in 2006, but I guess not… looking forward to seeing flash in a leather 2003 daredevil-type suit 🙄

I agree with your concern about this new suit not fitting to the skin enough like the last version did, but no matter how thick or thin this suit actually is will be revealed when the film releases & we'll see it up close via big screen. To include, #davidcorenswet will still have his muscle definition visible under the shirt if he has beefed up, great examples of this is if you take a look at sports athletes/crossfit athletes, or any person in general that weight trains weekly, even when wearing long sleeve mid-thick sweaters or a combat shirt soldiers wear in the Army (personal experience), it will still show muscle definition where it counts, i.e. shoulders, biceps, & forearms. Imo, from #jamesgunn himself sounded like he made sure Supe's new suit isn't too "goofy" for his lead actor. #superman_hope
Christopher Reeve’s Superman suit was perfect for him, and he made it work. The same applies to Henry Cavill, but his suit embraced the latest trends in superhero costumes, showcasing every muscle in detail, even when relaxed. However, if you pause David Corenswet’s suit at 5:44, you can clearly see the bagginess of his loose-fitting costume, especially when he's slouching. It gives off more of a cosplay vibe rather than a superhero suit. I understand Corenswet’s approach, and realistically, even a form-fitting suit like a military uniform can become loose over time with movement, despite initially fitting perfectly. I’m okay with this. I appreciate that he isn’t always in perfect form when in his supersuit. We’ve been conditioned to how a superhero costume should look, but reality dictates otherwise, lol. UPDATE (LOL, less than 20 minutes ago): I recently stumbled upon another video showcasing the costumes of other characters, and to my surprise, everyone’s suit is loose-fitting as well. This revelation suggests that the cast and crew of the new Superman movie have decided to abandon the tight, form-fitting costumes that were previously used in superhero movies.
I think it's perfect, in the trailer Corenswet looks incredible, don't need to look like a bodybuilder just to save anyone, being 6'4" and in shape is apposing enough, lovin it!
I think the suit looks good, agree with you that should be a bit more form fitting but don’t agree on a muscle suit underneath. This looks like a throwback to Christopher Reeve’s Superman and for that I’m really excited. I was thinking whether James Gunn considered the latex suit similar to the one Christopher Reeve wore.
I don't mind the suit, but yea, it could have been better. Like you said, what's the point of Corenswet putting in all that work at the gym when the suit isn't going to help show it off? Just for one possible shirtless scene? If I were Corenswet, I'd be a littled pissed.
Henry’s suit was more feared god-like Superman, while David’s is more approachable Superman. The suits are precise with the type of superman we’re getting. I do think it’s a tad loose but I’ll just clock it up to the idea Superman needs space for mobility.
Valid points. I feel like Superman is so powerful that he doesn't need the flex of a skin tight suit. He isn't cocky or vain at all. He is humble and kind. He also doesn't needs to be big and bulky. He could be a string-bean and still be the same level of powerful. Just like Christopher Reeve said back in the day, Superman doesn't have to lift weights or train.
@@stationarywanderer7910idk cavill was pretty jacked it wasnt much padding, you can tell because his head was still proportional compared to when he wasnt in the suit. he was in the same physique for mission impossible and he was in regular clothes.
I’m of the mindset where I kinda have to agree that I wish it wasn’t so loose on the arms, and complimented his physique a little more. Granted, that’s damn near impossible without that extra muscle suit underneath. Fabric just doesn’t work the same way it does in the comics. I do appreciate that he wants it to feel more authentic, so ultimately I’m all for it. I guess my biggest gripe with the suit is that I wish they would have gone the less is more route. Especially with Superman. He’s not meant to be flashy, wearing highly polished and over-designed suits with those god awful pointless MCU accent lines (that serve no purpose other than adding more ridiculous texture all over). He’s meant to be a simple wholesome farm boy, who wears a suit his earth mom sewed for him. According to Gunn, this Superman is not going to sell out like all those other Superheroes did (like Guy Gardner, Mr Terrific, and Hawkgirl). He’s meant to be helping people, because it’s the right and only thing to do. He’s not supposed to want flashy sponsorships, or fancy super suits.. but I feel like the suit they designed for him doesn’t reflect that. He needs to REALLY stand out from the crowd (to really drive home how down to earth he is), so his suit *should* have felt more homemade, compared to everyone else. I wish they would have found that perfect balance like they did with Brandon Routh’s Kingdom Come suit. Now THAT felt like a simple, and perfect, super-suit. Maybe David Corenswet’s Superman will get a better suit down the line. I don’t hate this suit, but it could definitely be better. They got the logo, the cape, the trunks, and the colors perfect… I just wish the execution was a little better. Sorry for rambling!
You made a good point over the suit it could had a better fit Let's see how it goes Maybe at the end of the movie he'll have an upgrade Great content brother 🤘🏼
I’m with him on the muscle suit. Especially if he’s got the muscles. It worked well for Reeve. As far as the design, we saw a similar design on Brandon Routh in the Crisis crossover and the suit fit his body to a T. He looked very powerful and heroic in it. Even when they went from the black on the emblem to the yellow. You can even find some doctored photos of that emblem with the yellow. The design is cool, it looks more uniform like than costume like. Especially with the trunks and that cape being as long as it is. The collar gives the impression of uniform. But I agree with you Chris, it could be tightened up to fit his physique more. I also think Gunn was looking to go in the opposite direction from the MoS suit. They even tore it trying it on
I'm going to be honest I don't believe anything they said when talking about the damage to the suit. In total in one of the BTS videos they said they were at least 10 outfits if not more because they constantly had to be doing alterations.. including the stuntman's outfits. I think the outfit that they're talking about was the very first version of the Man of steel uniform that Zack Snyder had Henry Cavill wear (not the Christopher Reeve type test suit) when he was given the part as Superman... This is before he bulked up so that would make sense. I personally like this outfit because it just looks like it's out of a comic book
Cavill didn’t have a muscle suit , he had his own muscles defined in a mold of his muscles glued down into a silver under suit of his muscles to give it a unique look and feel, cavill may be a few inches shorter than Mr coren but cavill was still bigger than corenswet in man of steel.
You sure about that, there are pics of Henry Cavill superman muscle suit, which perfectly fit for his body that makes you think that it's his actual muscle.
I remember as an 11 year old seeing Christopher Reeve in his suit with Metropolis (New York) behind him just blew my mind!!! Visually he just looked so impressive! And i think it really says a lot if you put David and Chris side by side how Christopher Reeve's suit still looks so darn great, even to this day! Would 11 year old me looking at this suit knowing what has come before really be impressed by this?? I'm not sure! There's just something about it that's not quite right. Do love Corenswet and the superman trailer tho.
"To embody bravery....you need to let us look at his muscles"? Nah, come on, man. You can see he's big and strong in this suit, without him having to prove it like some insecure gym bro. Why the fixation on seeing every detail of his physique? I sort of like the idea of this guy not having to pose and flex to prove to the world he's strong, like the gym bros do with their glamour muscle. Superman should show, as you say, "strength and bravery" by being strong and brave. Like a hero, not a show-off.
The Fixation on seeing every detail of his physique comes from how the characters are depicted mostly in comics. There is a number of fans who prefer to see heroes in live action as they are drawn in comics especially since we live in a time where Hollywood has the ability now more than ever to showcase the characters that way. I agree that it’s fine to have a version of Superman that doesn’t have to “flex & pose” as you put it, but I also believe the suit should complement the actor’s physique. This new suit looks like it needs some tailoring.
If he demonstrates his strength and bravery through his actions (which I would agree he does) then the issue with the suit becomes moot, whichever way, loose or form fitting. I can understand Corensweat's point to make him seem more friendly and approachable but it also should inspire awe. The suit doesn't just have one function, to be bright and colourful. You should see it and be like "Holy shit! It's Superman". I feel like it's more, there's a dude dressed like superman.
I think the suit is a story device for this movie. James Gunn is a writer at heart. He’s not born yesterday people. Everything done is intentional and will pay off in the movie. Shhhhhhhh 🤫.
He’s perfect as Clarke Kent. And the vibrant style is marvellous. But the suit just ruins it for me. It’s a shame cuz David Corenswet is absolutely fantastic.
@ you need to check on your grammar. And yes, that is a superhero look. If you don’t respect classic Superman, then you’re probably not a true Superman fan.
@@sawyerkabance8997 sorry my english im not from west.... its not about classic or not... their effort to make movie with 350M budget look like mini TV series that makes me angry .... not acceptable and dishonor superman
Id love to see you do cosplay in this new suit but tweak it to look properly fitted ..and do proper trunks..like in that Corenswer suit the Trunks are not cut right ,they look too loose and a smidge longer
Yeah the basic design is starting to grow on me, and I like the vaguely 1940s Superman vibe it gives off, but I agree it needed to be a lot more form-fitting so he would actually look like the iconic superhero he is. And I'm also not liking how desaturated the colors are looking on screen. The more vibrant red and blue from the filming pics might have made the suit stand out more and compensated for the other issues.
Loving the new suit, I hope they don't change anything. I don't think it's that loose looking in the trailer , and the layers give definition still , probably better than comics
I'm a lifelong Superman fan; Christopher Reeve was my childhood Man of Steel. Each iteration of the character on the big screen saw improvements of the outfit design EXCEPT this one. I think David Corenswet looks the part, however I'm not a fan of the suit. Hopefully there will be an upgrade in future sequels.
I'll get used to it eventually but the suit does look reminiscent of some leftover costumes from the Guardians of the Galaxy set which is fine for that but I'm used to Superman in a skintight suit.
Gang I genuinely feel like y'all are misdiagnosing the problem here. The suit IS form fitting. I have no idea why all of you are talking about. When he's standing up straight, it literally just fits him. There are definitely creases and less muscle definition, but that's just to do with the material, not how the suit fits
It seems like David had a lot of input to the suit, so I don't think it's a slap to his hard work at all. The suit looks great actually in motion and within the context of applied cinematography. If this is the only suit he gets, I'm cool with it.
Hey Chris I would love to see you tackle a cosplay project for this new suit but maybe with a little bit of a redesign for how you would want it to look. keep up the good work mate!
The only thing I’m curious about is how does he switch from Clark to Superman? Because the suit is bulkier, loose and has a collar, he can’t exactly where it under his normal clothes. So I’m very curious as to how they tackle that.
I would’ve preferred something more form fitting, but I think this still looks pretty great on screen. I’m hoping they’ll be able to take advantage of some of the less form fitting aspects of the suit to its advantage, to see it rippling in the wind mid flight, things like that will really ground the visuals in a very real way
I'm a big super-suit guy. It's one of my favorite things about superhero movies. With that said, while it's important, it's not everything. I think the best live action superman suit we have gotten was the season 3 and 4 suits from Superman and Lois. With that said you see this pattern with a lot of superhero movies like the MCU spiderman. A lot of people had issues with Peters' Stark suit in the beginning, but that suit changed and evolved over the years into a more comic accurate design that almost everyone loved. Since this movie will be a part of a growing universe of films, I have no doubt the suit will change and be tweaked over time. So, for now, I'm choosing not to let how the suit looks affect my thoughts on the movie so far. As for too many cooks in the kitchen, normally I would agree with you and also be worried about that but seeing as it's James Gunn and his best superhero films were ensembles, I think he can manage it and still make a good cohesive story.
FYI Supe's strenght doesn't come from his muscles. He doesn't have look like He-Man. Reeve wasn't that buff, yet he was so impressive and believable as Superman.
@@bigsteed007Of course, but you can't really compare live action to those. Pretty often physics and the proportions of the characters are nowhere near realistic. No one is gonna look like that no matter how tight the suit is. Big muscles are not my concern when it comes to movies. I want good stories with good characters. What comes after those is a bonus.
@@bigsteed007 Ever read the SUPERMAN novel? He was created to have the physique of a swimmer.LOIS LANES first impression of SUPERMAN was that" he looked like a tall swimmer with a boyish face and curly dark locks that shined in the sunlight as he whisked off into the sky......" @@rickmason6157 The novel said that, but Superman has always being visioned as a strongman or bodybuilders, Superman is a really muscular guy compared to your average Joe.
I actually like the suit explanation. The normaliion of the suit makes him seem more humble which in a way kinda suits the character's personality. Plus i suppose in a way this is much more a realistic suit an actual superhero would wear, one you can actually move in and not need a team of other people to put on and remove.
I’m not a fan of the suit personally, it looks like a thick fabric, loose and droopy, I’m just not digging it but looking forward to the film nonetheless
Like what Chris is saying here... My only concern about the suit is the fit. You don't need fake muscles or anything, but seeing how it folds in some areas just takes me out of the illusion. It feels like it's just a really good leather jacket. Maybe use a stretchy fabric on the areas like the shoulders and elbows would help with the look? I don't know. When he's standing up straight looking stoic, overall, the costume looks fantastic... Even with the trunks... Which I don't really like seeing in live action superhero movies.
So, Superman's suit being based on a wrestler's physic doesn't matter anymore? After 86 years, all of a sudden, muscles are intimidating to kids? Or is it more important that James Gunn gets to puts his own stink on it/ make something different/cause controversy and stir interest? For what? Bad publicity? Because of this first impression of James Gunn's vision, I was actually shocked at how much I ❤❤❤the trailer, my eyes were tearing up! A great portrayal of Superman, but not this disappointing/unappealing WB/MCU/baggy/Kryptonian corduroy suit. Thank God, he didn't double down on his muscles don't matter vision and make Superman a fat/skinny or non-binary alien. 🤣
Also Brandon Routh also gave his Clark the "Goofy" Chris Reeve type acting in his movie... The main ones who didn't do this have been George Reeves, Kirk Allen, Tom Welling, Dean Cain, Henry Cavill, Tyler Hoechlin... Not even in the Animated toons was he like a bumbling goofy dude... So could this be a good thing or bad thing? Only time will tell but the last time it didn't work out well with Brandon Routh as it was seen as well copying what Christopher Reeve did which angered most us die hard fans of HIS take on the role. When that movie Superman Returns was in production I remember A LOT of people on Forums complaining that his movie shouldn't be connected to the ones by Chris out of respect for his take it should be left to him. This is why every other take was more traditional to the comics, and original shows.
I hate that suit I’m not a trunks fan but I don’t mind the trunk my issue is the collar and the lines on the suit it looks all padded which sucks because ik David worked out and he is a big guy he should get to show that in the suit
He still could've had a muscle suit underneath without being the over-the-top pronounced Man of Steel suit. You know, subtle, but yet defining each muscle.
I think it looks great. The boots are a bit puffy and rubbery, in my opinion, but I don’t mind the wrinkles and folds. You got a lot of actors who get jacked and then have to put on padded muscle suits to get that "wet tshirt" look. So, unless you are going to put on a spandex shirt and tights, it never does the hours of sweating, lifting and dieting true justice. Imagine being the guy who told Dwayne Johnsonson, he still needed padding in his Black Adam suit. 😮
I never liked muscles being visible under a super hero costume, it works in animation and comics but in live action it has always looked silly and unprotective, plus for characters that move a lot on the ground and in the air having fabric behaving like fabric (which is what people are actually seeing, it's not baggy it just has give) goes along way to showcase the speeds that they are moving at, for instance the amazing Spider-Man 2, the suit looks perfect there and the fact that its a little lose give more to it looking real compared to Tom an Toby's suits. Another example of muscles sticking out of the suit looking bad is power rangers, whenever there is a fully American made suit that isn't trying to imitate the already made ones, they add muscles and every time they do it it looks bad, heck even when super sentai did it it looked bad. Muscles do not signify strength, they are just there to show off, strength comes with the actions that you do and how you use it. As a kid i related more to Spider-Man more than other heroes because i usually didn't see muscles always being pushed in my face, I always thought "i could be that guy" and yeah I knew underneath they were ripped but it made it look obtainable, but that just me.
I'm kinda tempted to get the procosplay suit after watching Andrew's video on his Super Fit Cosplay channel... even with the severe dadbod I've got going on 😅🤣
Can’t sell it. The suit looks horrible and Superman from that era was not a goofball either. That was Christopher Reeves take on it. He also had real spandex and worked out to build muscles to show. The Fleischer Superman cartoons depicts a well mannered Clark Kent not someone fumbling that adaption was built from Reeves take on it. This is why Henry’s Superman is well ahead of them all.
How is this showing that Gunn isn’t taking it seriously lol. They made an aesthetic decision to abandon the skintight suits for something that feels more like a uniform. That doesn’t sound like they’re not taking it seriously, they just have a different way of approaching it.
i hate when superheroes change their suit every movie, id like an upgrade maybe later down the line but i think they should stick to this for now, maybe just tighten it a bit
The trailer was decent, but that suit looks atrocious on Supes, what made Supes the iconic hero was his God-Like physique and the suit that shows it off...Idk what that is he's wearing in this film smh
Yah it’s his personality combine with his imposing body, and it’s been like that in every dry version I’ve seen of Superman, regardless of suit shade or whether he has trunks or not, or whether it’s a more serious or lighthearted tone
I've seen some people complain about them showing a defeated superman, but you need stakes in a movie. If he just cameos then yeah make him invulnerable, but in his own movie he needs an obstacle to overcome. Henry Cavil's superman is great, but he mopped the floor with Steppenwolf, making the rest of the justice league pointless 😂. I hope they power him down in this new universe.
i didnt really like it when we got the still image but i dont mind it as much in motion. it kinda reminds me of the 1940s costume despite not being skin tight.
I had similar thoughts when pictures started coming out of the suit. I thought it looked fine, but I couldn’t wrap my mind around what could be behind the decision to go with a thicker, less form fitting suit. I knew it wasn’t a technology limitation. I thought maybe it was just the types of materials Gunn’s costume designer likes to work with. But it just felt that it must have been a deliberate decision. It finally clicked for me when I thought about how a section of audiences reacted to Cavill in his suit, and in his shirtless scenes. They were practically drooling over him. Which is understandable, but is that the frame of mind you want to put people in when watching a Superman movie? I think Gunn and company are really thinking about how they want people to see this Superman. It’s hard to be very wholesome if the suit itself is eliciting a hot and bothered kind of reaction from a section of the audience. That’s just not the vibe they’re after.
It drives me nuts when people keep saying there are too many characters in this movie. Since you mentioned Rocky, I looked it up. The first Rocky movie had around 20 characters, including Rocky, Adrian, Paulie, Apollo, Mickey, and Tony. That movie did OK. Normally movies have a bunch of different characters. You just happen to know all these names. That’s the only difference.
The difference is that this is a superhero movie. Powers and rules need to be established. Rocky is set in the real world. Superman is set in Metropolis with Alien heroes, ego maniac billionaire villains who want to take over the world, Green Lanterns AKA Galactic Police officers and Flying dogs... that's a lot to introduce and set up. Rocky is a movie about a boxer set in Philadelphia. Rocky is a horrible comparison.
@@kiaadams104 my point is Otis is in this movie, Miss Tess Bacher, Kat Grant, and others. They are characters in this movie. Not all the characters cast have superhero powers. And you can explain Green Lantern and Hawkgirl in a sentence.

I agree I think the material needed to be one that's more form fitting and less stuff...it doesn't fit him well
Yeah I get that james didn't want superman to look intimidating, but I don't think superman having a skin tight suit would've caused that. Like if it was tighter the suit would've been perfect imo
The fake muscles/skin tight isn’t what he’s talking about for threatening and I rather have some wrinkles then fake muscle pads from Henry even though Henry suit does look good. Excluding the bvs suit.
I think he will look intimidating when his stature is shown next to other characters, but unfortunately guy Gardner is literally the same height
I never thought that as a kid. I thought it was awesome and inspired me to want to be strong and look like that
@@jingleballs9935every modern actor that’s worn a tight suit has worn a muscle suit because the suits compress the muscles so much and it destroys muscle definition
Christopher Reeve is the OG, plus he worked out to fill that suit. So did Henry Cavil.
Christopher Reeve did a brilliant job of becoming Superman. Henry Cavill just acted Superman.
She had to shoot him with a blank first. Fun writing.

Yea people are over exaggerating with how baggy it is.
@@jingleballs9935 it don't look baggy in the trailer lol these ppl are dumb
It's not baggy at all. It's just nerds who want their "painted on spandex" look. No thanks.
How many superhero’s in much as tight costumes but baggy in the movies? But dc can’t embrace the same?
It's the same costume designer.
@@danielwoodsthelastblaxionh7626 the difference is Cap America's first movie suit was still tapered to demonstrate Chris Evan's V Shape muscular figure. This suit is not. What I love about the late Chris Reeve super suit is that it was 100% all - natural and had no padding whatsoever!💪😉
I'm just happy they did the yellow S on the cape, the main thing I hated about others suits was missing the yellow S on the cape 😂
Well, if you don't want fake muscles fine, but make a suit that actually fits and shows that you are muscular, because you're playing Superman... They did it in 1978, so I feel confident they could do it now... He definitely won't be wearing this suit under his street clothes
I know. How hard is it to get the suit right. Keep it just like Christopher Reeves suit but with the new textures
Superman is not powerful because of his muscles but because of his strength and powers
Excellent point, the suit was meant to wear under his clothes. You can’t do that with this outfit.
The Green Lantern looks like Fester from Addams Family Values after he got hairplugs.
Oh my god. Something has been tickling my brain ever since I saw him (poor Nathan Fillion...) but I couldn't put my finger on it. This is exsctly what it was.
never seen Guy Gardner in comics?
Nathan Fillion would die laughing at this comment
WTF.

It was David corenswet idea actually
Yea a lot of people don’t like it but I don’t mind. Mostly synder cult.
It ruined the suit
@@MilleniumKage no it didn't
Why?
I don’t love this suit, but I don’t hate it either. Henry looks better in his suit, that’s for sure.
Henry’s suit was more feared god-like Superman, while David’s is more approachable Superman. The suits are precise with the type of superman we’re getting. I do think it’s a tad loose but I’ll just clock it up to the idea Superman needs space for mobility.
I think it's gonna be awesome. Can't wait to see it in IMAX too 🥳
Valid points.
Its not baggy, its made of a not very flexible foam thanks to the details and texture. MOS was fabric, this look like urathane
MOS was fabric? It was a molded bodysuit that looked like body armor which Supes doesn't need.
It’s not baggy to you but everyone else with eyes sees it’s baggy
@@stationarywanderer7910idk cavill was pretty jacked it wasnt much padding, you can tell because his head was still proportional compared to when he wasnt in the suit. he was in the same physique for mission impossible and he was in regular clothes.
@@kluneberg8952 He was, but the muscles were built into the suit because it wasn't the type of material that would show the muscles.
@@stationarywanderer7910 - No…. it was actually just a unitard, like what circus performers wear.
You made a good point over the suit it could had a better fit
Let's see how it goes
Maybe at the end of the movie he'll have an upgrade
Great content brother 🤘🏼
I like the look of the suit from the poster
Cavill didn’t have a muscle suit , he had his own muscles defined in a mold of his muscles glued down into a silver under suit of his muscles to give it a unique look and feel, cavill may be a few inches shorter than Mr coren but cavill was still bigger than corenswet in man of steel.
ye it also makes it so the wrinkles of his suit would be inbetween the panels of silver so there were no big wrinkles across his shoulders and armpits
He was also under 200 pounds first movie and shorter
real complicated way to describe a muscle suit
You sure about that, there are pics of Henry Cavill superman muscle suit, which perfectly fit for his body that makes you think that it's his actual muscle.
Henry used fake muscles too. It was no secret.
Agreed
Talk that talk!! Well said all FACTS!!!
Hey, cosplayers are arguably the biggest fans man, they think about these things more than we do lol.
Replacing the logo with the original design would made a huge difference

Id love to see you do cosplay in this new suit but tweak it to look properly fitted ..and do proper trunks..like in that Corenswer suit the Trunks are not cut right ,they look too loose
and a smidge longer
1. the baggy suit looks terrible
2. super man has trunks
3. Brandon routh superman returns is the best superman suit on film yet
Well, two out of three an't bad. 😅
I think we’ll definitely get a trilogy out these films
Love the suit.
To me he doesn't have that Superman presence. It's just like you stated Chris. It's like Clark was in a Halloween costume.
The trailer is a feel good movie trailer at this time.
Maybe James Gunn will hear all the feedback and tweak certain things up before the release date
Seriously? At this point? No point.
James Gun said he “didn’t want the Superman suit to look like a dude in a wet t-shirt with fake muscles.”
FYI Supe's strenght doesn't come from his muscles. He doesn't have look like He-Man. Reeve wasn't that buff, yet he was so impressive and believable as Superman.
Ever seen a superman comic?
@@bigsteed007Of course, but you can't really compare live action to those. Pretty often physics and the proportions of the characters are nowhere near realistic. No one is gonna look like that no matter how tight the suit is.

I actually like the suit explanation. The normaliion of the suit makes him seem more humble which in a way kinda suits the character's personality.
Plus i suppose in a way this is much more a realistic suit an actual superhero would wear, one you can actually move in and not need a team of other people to put on and remove.
I think he will get an upgraded suit at the end of the movie
I honestly, the costumes look like a CW show.
Superman and Lois had a better suit.
I don’t understand anyone’s issue with the suit. That is my favourite live action Superman suit.
I mean Cavills’ costumes improved from movie to movie. Maybe the next one will have some upgrades.
He still could've had a muscle suit underneath without being the over-the-top pronounced Man of Steel suit. You know, subtle, but yet defining each muscle.
He looks like classic superman from the super old cartoons pre 90s.
I feel like the loose fit and high collar make it look too militaristic. Like I could make this off a Star Trek TNG pattern.
Not be scary to children...what about everyone else?
What was purpose of Superman to begin with?
The fact that you think a cosplay suit would look better than the movie one…
He didn’t want to be like Ben affleck and let the padded suit do all the work, Affleck even needed to have cgi muscles in his workout scene
Kirk Ayln the first the first Superman is my favorite
The pre-release version on procosplay actually looks better than the one in the movie. It is what it is.
The S on his suit doesn’t really look like an S to me
That's because it's not an S.
It's a Kryptonian symbol for hope.
🦸♂️
I'm kinda tempted to get the procosplay suit after watching Andrew's video on his Super Fit Cosplay channel... even with the severe dadbod I've got going on 😅🤣
Can’t sell it.
The suit looks horrible and Superman from that era was not a goofball either. That was Christopher Reeves take on it. He also had real spandex and worked out to build muscles to show. The Fleischer Superman cartoons depicts a well mannered Clark Kent not someone fumbling that adaption was built from Reeves take on it. This is why Henry’s Superman is well ahead of them all.
The thing is the christopher reeve suit was so perfect u really can't top it tho
Thank you!!! Make it tight and form fitting and you’ll win A LOT more fans. I am ALMOST there
He thinks he’s making a suit for starlord still 😅
How is this showing that Gunn isn’t taking it seriously lol.
Love the crow shirt
I'm going to watch the movie, and probably like it, but we went from Gucci to Temu.
He probably gets a new suit as the story develops.
That's fine and we get that but us as the fans don't want a baggy costume either so can we find a happy medium
i didnt really like it when we got the still image but i dont mind it as much in motion. it kinda reminds me of the 1940s costume despite not being skin tight.
I'm not a fan of the suit but what I see I liked the feel the heart of the movie and maybe he is going to have another one in the last act
Teaser we gotta remember a teaser
It’s not padding in the suit it’s the material that makes it not as tight. I never liked the material either.
Henry Cavill set a very high bar. He embodied the Superman role. Good Luck new guy🫡
I bet Mr. Terrific will create Supes suit in the end.
Superman can use heat vision and freeze things with his breath, but Gunn is drawing the line at an exaggerated physique?
What's the point of having the actor get in shape if you're just going to cover it up with a thick suit.
No Spandex please 😂😂 I like this suit
Background characters are not character. You don't need explain taxi driver in Rocky because it is self explanatory.
@@kiaadams104 my point is Otis is in this movie, Miss Tess Bacher, Kat Grant, and others. They are characters in this movie. Not all the characters cast have superhero powers.
And you can explain Green Lantern and Hawkgirl in a sentence.
@@bunnyfreakz background characters are characters. And Gunn has a lot of background characters in this movie.
