The best way to build problem solving skills is to do deep work (whatever you do) and use your skills proactively to solve problems in that area of work. Using chess as a means to build problem solving skills is overrated, it will only help you to build problem solving skills in chess and not outside, otherwise all chess players would have been the best problem solvers in the world, which is not the case. Be the problem solver in your own domain and you don’t need chess for it.
An exercise I know is : find a problem, try to find and write 20 different solutions to it they can be detailed and can not be the always the best, but just solutions, and practice that everyday

It's totally ridiculous to say these things, in moderation it's fine, playing Chess is actually good for the Mind, it helps you stratergise and think and focus.
I don't think chess was played during the time of prophet (SAW). Chess was not introduced to Arabs until 8th-9th century. According to wikipedia "Chess was introduced to Persia from India and became a part of the princely or courtly education of Persian nobility.[4] Around 600 CE in Sassanid Persia, the name for the game became chatrang (Persian: چترنگ), which subsequently evolved to shatranj (Arabic: شطرنج; Persian: شترنج) after the conquest of Persia by the Rashidun Caliphate",
If the majority of your time in a day goes to something other than worshipping allah, you should work on that because as a muslim our only goal in this dunya is to know Allah and follow his commands and yes studying will be a wrong action for you if you miss salah for it, you will have no barakah in studies and your life whatsoever ❤
yes if you are studying and for example prayer time comes and your like oh i will pray later right now I have to complete my homework or complete reading this chapter, so this perspective shows that you are giving more importance towards your study and due to which you missed salah on purpose its not like you accidently missed it, got it? this rule apply to everything which stops you from practising your salah on time
I never once in the Quran have read, "Your life should be devoid of any and all forms of entertainment in between your prayers." As long as you aren't gambling or doing other prohibited things that cause you to stray away from Islam, you are fine. So if I want to build Legos... or a model airplane/car... I am worshipping it? Come on...that's such a reach. I play fighting games in my downtime, which is basically 3D chess or even more complicated and still furfill my duties. I don't worship Ken Masters, I just play him.
statues arent allowed because your are recreating allahs creation which is prohibited in islam similarly drawing is haram of living things and that horse also falls in the same category meaning its showing a living creature thus not allowed, secondly about not doing anything during salah time so it is right because if you are doing something in between the time of prayer and because of which you missed salah so it is haram because you gave more importance towards that specific thing

Chess is not inherently haram in Islam, as its permissibility depends on the context and how it is played. While some scholars have prohibited it, their rulings often stem from specific concerns, such as its association with gambling or its potential to distract from obligatory acts like prayer. However, these prohibitions are not universally agreed upon, and many scholars from different Islamic schools of thought have permitted chess if it is free from such issues. For instance, the Shafi'i and Maliki schools generally allow chess as long as it is played for intellectual exercise and does not lead to neglect of religious obligations or excessive waste of time. Scholars like Ibn Qudamah and Ibn Hajar al-Asqalani also viewed chess as permissible when it served as a harmless recreational activity and avoided sinful elements. The Quran and Hadith emphasize intention and purpose in actions. If chess is played without gambling, does not cause harm, and is not used excessively to the detriment of religious and personal responsibilities, it falls within the permissible realm. Saying chess is unequivocally haram oversimplifies a complex issue and overlooks the diversity of opinions in Islamic jurisprudence. It’s essential to consider the context, intention, and potential outcomes of playing chess. When approached with balance and responsibility, chess can be a beneficial activity, enhancing cognitive skills and promoting strategic thinking, all of which align with Islam's encouragement of intellectual growth.
The only entertainment I have is games and movies since I have no friends. Glad to know my favourite game is not haram. I heard some hanafi imams say it is haram so I stopped aying it for some 4 to 5 years.

I think people shouldn't just go and believe what some random 'scholar' or someone say, I think a proper Muslim should have the ability to read the book/books and judge the act by their understanding for being halal or haram
If people seriously ask themselves such questions, I wonder how strong their faith really is. Play chess and have fun! It has absolutely no impact on Islam.

But it's impossible to only engage in prayers all the time. We humans also need to spent time on something we enjoy that's not haram.

Yes, it's haram. You can't touch the king's queen.
What if I play chess for a problem solving skills
The best way to build problem solving skills is to do deep work (whatever you do) and use your skills proactively to solve problems in that area of work.
Using chess as a means to build problem solving skills is overrated, it will only help you to build problem solving skills in chess and not outside, otherwise all chess players would have been the best problem solvers in the world, which is not the case.
Be the problem solver in your own domain and you don’t need chess for it.
An exercise I know is : find a problem, try to find and write 20 different solutions to it they can be detailed and can not be the always the best, but just solutions, and practice that everyday
Chess is halal but it’s like any other game, don’t let it distract you from your obligations.
Also if you have a real chess board then remove or cover the head of the knight because it’s a 3D statue of a living creature, which is totally haram to have
@@Your_reminder61 Al-Khwarizmi(Rh.) never played chess. That's the enough answer.
U can play but
Don’t forget to pray
May Allah guide us all
Ridiculous. Some Muslims are just too much smh. It's chess like it has more benefits than harm ie problem solving skills, memory and it's all scientifically proven. So freaking annoying honestly. I love chess and ill never give it up. Oh btw haram police, i still pray 5 times a day, am the best muslim i can be hopefully and abide by all the core tenets
Dude don't say "mf"
@epicibu yeah my bad got a lil heated
Almost anything can be considered a Waste of time, the Probability of missing Salah and Gambling, here's an example.. Driving Cars, you can bet a wager to Race your Car, you can Drive to a Far place and miss Salah, you can Drive and waste time, so are we now going to say Driving Cars is Haram? It's totally ridiculous to say these things, in moderation it's fine, playing Chess is actually good for the Mind, it helps you stratergise and think and focus.
There's a method to pray while on journey, so your argument is wrong.
Also any type of wager is strictly prohibited
I wouldn’t say it’s wasting time.
I agree with his ruling.
If you’re not gambling and follow the sunnah, Alhumdu illah
@@MrHellsing1055 You are wrong.
@StudyJEEwithHammad chess is literally one of the few games that engages your brain jn a positive way and helps with your common reasoning
@UmarfarouqGachi You reasoning is just absurd.
@UmarfarouqGachi I challenge you that Chess is Haram.
1:24. Very important. Studies. Muslims miss that a lot these days. Educate yourself and go to heights.
Ibn Hajar Al-Asqalani loved chess. May Allah swt send his barakah.
People waste as much time on tik tok and other social media platforms
FACTS!
I don't think chess was played during the time of prophet (SAW). Chess was not introduced to Arabs until 8th-9th century. According to wikipedia "Chess was introduced to Persia from India and became a part of the princely or courtly education of Persian nobility.[4] Around 600 CE in Sassanid Persia, the name for the game became chatrang (Persian: چترنگ), which subsequently evolved to shatranj (Arabic: شطرنج; Persian: شترنج) after the conquest of Persia by the Rashidun Caliphate",
so if I am studying and miss my salah, does that make STUDYING PROHIBITED? Absolutely not...
If the majority of your time in a day goes to something other than worshipping allah, you should work on that because as a muslim our only goal in this dunya is to know Allah and follow his commands and yes studying will be a wrong action for you if you miss salah for it, you will have no barakah in studies and your life whatsoever ❤
yes if you are studying and for example prayer time comes and your like oh i will pray later right now I have to complete my homework or complete reading this chapter, so this perspective shows that you are giving more importance towards your study and due to which you missed salah on purpose its not like you accidently missed it, got it? this rule apply to everything which stops you from practising your salah on time
I never once in the Quran have read, "Your life should be devoid of any and all forms of entertainment in between your prayers."
As long as you aren't gambling or doing other prohibited things that cause you to stray away from Islam, you are fine.
@angelborninhell-v6b I respect your point. But I don't kneel, worship, nor glorify anyone nor anything, but our creator himself.
That why i don't care opinion of sheiks and such scholars.
Prohibiting chess is like prohibiting mathematics. Both encourage problem-solving skill and push us towards developing intellectual skills like patience. They both work with the brain, not against it.
Patience isn't intellectual lmao. Maths is a subject, chess is a game lmao.
@@Ghiyath981 Chess is game, yes. But it follows logic and strategic. You must be very very good in math to be a good chess player. Without mathematical & logical & strategical thinking you are not a player.
btw, this chess is not for everyone like football, its for high IQ people.
@kaziimran4611 Every game follows logic and strategy, chess has nothing to do with IQ and mathematics lmao, football is more elitist than chess, mpron.

3 words, “All about intention” Thank you for the Guidance Sheikh, Jazakallah Kyar.
Most of people are saying that chess is problem solving. But when you keep playing chess for long time consistently, then it becomes a muscle memory. Now Your mind won't think but just remember the positions.
And what do you use for that muscle memory?
Muscle memory? What are you on about? Memorization only happens through the opening of chess, once you get out of that you need to constantly think about the positions and use your mind and instinct to solve the problem. Here i give you a fun fact: Did you know that an average calorie loss of pro participant in a chess tournament is 8000 calories a day? This shows that chess is not just a memorization game, rather a heavy thinking activity like solving your hard exam
No... Chess is not at all about memory...
Chess is about strategies and openings and such things... Try to look at how many positions a chess game can have, it's above BILLIONS, trillions...
Even if you remember a whole position every single second, you would need 31 years to remember ONE billion
Chess has nothing to do with memory, in fact... It's super rare to get the same position you once got
@@Potato72080I mean, you still need to memorizing at least the pieces since different pieces has different walk pattern.
Rook's straight-line walk pattern, bishop's diagonal walk pattern, Horsey's L walk pattern
But yeah, chess is more about strategy than memory
@@dakotabless4800that barely any memorization, bro on to nothing
Sheikh Assim is very knowledgeable but we have to remember that he follows the most conservative interpretation of the Hadiths. This is why he gets questions wrong about modern subjects like crypto and board games, majority of Muslims would disagree with his stance on these two topics. Remember, the most conservative interpretation is NOT the most correct interpretation, it’s simply the safe route which is totally acceptable.
I am a muslim but I can confirm that chess is HALAL. I don’t know what source for this scholar to say it’s haram.
Glad this conversation has come.. my god our muslim ummah have themselves made their life difficult by accepting self proclaimed opinions. No doubt other religious people think muslim don't like things where the brain is needed 🧠
What if we're playing it to learn tactics and how to do decision-making? Is it still haram if we're playing chess for the sake of practicing logics and decision-making, not for gambling, etc?
Guys... its a board game... stop putting islamic rules into random stuff
Chess is halal because:
1- Literally ANYTHING could make you miss salah, Even if you are watching deen related stuff, Am I right?
2- And no chess IS beneficial, It's based on strategically based movements
3- Any one could make up a hadith, It's not quran and everybody can make mistakes in the dunia and think that that hadith is right
I'm sorry if I started a war in the comments....
The ruling is not touching the statues. so why 9nly Horse has statue like figure and elephant has not! change the structure of Horse thats it!
Chess didn't even reach the muslim world until the liberation of persia in the reign of Caliph Umar (ra). What is being referred to here was gambling, Ali saw a bunch of guys gambling and admonished them. Play chess as much as you want, as long as it does not take you away from Allah by distracting you from Salah or otherwise.
Probability is not an actual justification, and the sheikh had just agreed with me there. It depends on your intentions and what you do with it, and of course you can make time for salat, etc.
Sorry Sheikh. If you say that we should break/cover the head of Knight piece because it is a statue (BTW the Bishop is a statue as well), then how do you explain Prophet Sulaiman's Castle's statues?? mentioned in the holy Qur'an, 34:13 "They (the Jinns) would make for him whatever he wanted from among arches, statues, basins....."
We can't unite even in a comment section for non-religious topics, and we wonder why are we divided in religious matters.
Just play responsibly and don't let it affect you and your surrounding in a bad way. Play the games which improve your physical, psychological and mental health.
You can play any games. I believe you can even play dices too. Just don't fall into the believe of luck. Allah is the best judge.
If we play online.
And
Change knight apperance
Is it halal
What's the logic behind knight? We are not worshipping him, why put helmet? I don't think islam is so hard, as long as we are not worshipping it, i don't see a problem with it
Solving puzzles and playing chess since a young age has helped me a lot in life so far.
I think it’s the main contributor to me winning math competitions, which secured my spot at university computer science, Data Science and AI (DSAI). I don’t know what the future holds. But I’ll make sure to use my skills to give back and make the world a better place.
Do indirectly, playing chess did contribute to my life. I think the point where it doesn’t is when it becomes an obsession but this is more common with video games
It wont make u miss salah because a chess rule is that u have a time and that time is usally 10 minutes so both people have 10 minutes so a chess game is maximum 20 minutes

U can play the same game on inerrnet without the board. Will it willbe haram then
The only entertainment I have is games and movies since I have no friends. Glad to know my favourite game is not haram. I heard some hanafi imams say it is haram so I stopped aying it for some 4 to 5 years.
Why are you making it sooooooo difficult?? Play if you want to... enjoy the game...
Interesting… I literally opened a random page of a Hadith (can’t remember which one it was) in my local masjid and it said something (and I paraphrase) about chess being ‘equivalent to dirtying your hands by handling pork’ and the reasoning was nothing to do with wasting time (which makes no sense to me seeing as bullet chess and rapids do exist)🤔
Chess has been around 1000s of years, especially during crusade was played often. There are manuscripts about it too where a Muslim and Christian were playing during curates
Gambling is haram be it any game. But chess is a strategic game with all respect I don't think it's haram at all.
what is haram has been told to us in quran . dont make up ur own rules
Many strong chess players are Muslims from Iran,Uzbekistan,Kazakhstan, etc.
This doesnt make sense.
I am a Muslim but when everything considered as haram including something beneficial to sharpening your logics, critical thinking etc. I would criticize the reasoning behind logics of haram itself
Agree with you. ❤❤
I have 2 Question.
Is Playing Cards Haram (Contais Probability) ?
If so ?
Is playing LUDO Haram (also contain Probability) ?
Of course No Salat Missed, No Gambling
I think people shouldn't just go and believe what some random 'scholar' or someone say, I think a proper Muslim should have the ability to read the book/books and judge the act by their understanding for being halal or haram
please, chess is not haram. Allah does not state it in his book
i will do whatever i want and stop only if my actions oppose the quran's teachings in any way. its no good to overthink and over complicate things
Chess can teach you tactical, strategic, Problem solving skills and you can learn more about yourself.
How is this even an issue?
If people seriously ask themselves such questions, I wonder how strong their faith really is. Play chess and have fun! It has absolutely no impact on Islam.
Most of chess sets do not contain knights, rather horse statues. Rather, they named it like that. That would not create any problem, for people who asks for an answer.
All those things on these religious scriptures has been said thousand of years ago according to that specific time situations but time changes people changes , situation changes and peoples also has to do by putting current time situation in mind . Doesn't mean some place peoples or things are bad thousand years ago still be the same . New humans comes in place of new humans and they are totally different persons ! If board game is that bad so god never give such things to human .
I hope these videos will remain and serve as a valuable resource for future psychiatrists and psychologists to analyze the level of madness and absurdity in which some people lived in our time
What's the meaning of "wasting time"? Do you believe time is a real thing? No, it's a concept created by us to help us understand different laws of the universe.
if chess is haram then testing IQ is haram as well, because chess is used to do so
Chess has nothing to do with IQ lmao.

Argument numbers 1: It makes you engage in idol worship. Q: How?
Argument number 2: It wastes time. My 2 cents: There are sports such as cricket and football that last longer than a chess game. Rapid and Blitz chess matches can be as short as 30 seconds. Average duration of a game is 3 hours. In contrast, Cricket ODI match is 8-9 hrs long.
I know the real reason why chess is haram and am sure sheik will agree: A king cannot be less powerful than the queen.
Poor knight everyone is on the side of holy bishop
So it is not,

Why are people thinking that the prohibition of statues is because of fear of us worshipping other than Allah? Statues are prohibited inherently. just like it's prohibited to have a woman and a man who are foreign to each other in a room alone, it doesn't matter if they had the purest heart, just the fact they're alone in a room is prohibited.
Not haram ..do it in moderation , why haram this haram that haram !, it train logic , meticolus , teach calmness ,and how to control your emotion , teach humility to o , you will lose frequently ..
isn’t intention also important?? because this situation can be applied to so many activities
