Hilarious skit. Dean and Jerry were just perfect together and they loved each other from the time they met until Dean's passing. How could they not?

In Jerry's last interview before his passing, the interviewer asked Jerry when was the happiest time in his life and without missing a beat, he said "when my partner was alive". Jerry loved that man more than anything

I wonder if Jerry remembered doing this scene when he sang the same song on Broadway as Mr. Applegate in _Damn Yankees_ with Charlotte D'Amboise as Lola. This is a sketch on the same level as "Went with the Wind". Excellently conceived, in extraordinary detail, excellently written, and brilliantly realized by Martin and Lewis. Superb. Thank you.

I wonder if Jerry remembered this whenever he sang Two Lost Souls? Dean Martin died while Jerry was doing the show and singing this song. Bitter sweet.

The Movies deteriorated with each release due to terrible scripts, the issues with Jerry and the increasing use of pathos by Jerry in his performance. Some scenes were so cringeworthy. The live shows such as the COLGATE HOUR were some of their best work. Jerry became increasingly difficult and demanding and Dean was getting fed up with Jerrys attitude. Jerry was all controlling, and his disturbed nature led to the break up. SAILOR BEWARE is one of my favourites in which Jerry shows his undeniable talent but his demeanor and character changed as time went on, as he became unhappy with the format and his character. The Studios are equally responsible for the deteriorating quality of the movies as they were with Abbott and Costello. I think people can see the demise of the Martin Lewis relationship and performance as time went on.

Bise

Sinatra betrayed Dean the same way when he became not profitable.

Тамара Тихомирова Although they often performed together, Frank and Dean were never an official partnership in the same way that Martin and Lewis were, bound together by legal contracts etc. They each always had their own individual careers, and had a very different relationship based more on their, and their families, mutual lifelong closeness. That friendship (one in which they both described each other as being more “like brothers”) lasted from the time they first met in the early 1940s right up until Deans death in 1995. In contrast, after the infamously bitter breakup of the Martin and Lewis act in 1956, I don’t think Dean and Jerry ever really socialised together in the same way, although they did of course run into each other at various public events over the years.

Sinatra was always a very loyal friend to Dean Martin. He took him on tour in an effort to help him when his son Dino was killed, but Martin was not fully involved and was unprofessional. The final straw was when Martin flicked a lit cigarette into the audience and an enraged Sinatra later tipped a bowl of spaghetti over Dean's head. Later, anti-Sinatraists told only the Spaghetti story, omitting Martin's disgracefully disrespectful behaviour towards the paying audience. Lewis NEVER betrayed Martin, always loving and respecting him to the day he died. Martin often made (admittedly good-natured) fun of Lewis in his shows, but as Lewis said - such behaviour would NEVER be permitted of him. They went their own ways creatively and were probably correct in doing so, but their parting will always be viewed with much sadness and regret by fans and indeed, was by them when they were much older and wiser.

Both Dean and Jerry were wonderful apart but they lacked something, the magic was gone. You can just feel it, just like you could feel their mutual love, respect and their undeniable closeness. It just reached out and grabbed you when they performed together, and you just paid attention to them no matter who else was with them. No performers were like them before or since. They just pulled you in to their world and they kept you there. It's like some sort of spell that you never want to recover from. They were magical!!!
