  • My original Gmade GS02 Komodo Double Cab had extremely notchy, bindy axles; which required shimming to correct. After which, they were butter smooth.
    This is how to do it.

      I have to agree. They're definitely one of the best crawler/trail truck brands, no doubt.

    I was torn between this and the element ,in the end I decided I really couldn't be bothered with building this time as just wanted to get out on the trail whilst we still can and went for the Sendero(sandero) hd rtr How did you find the build?

    • @TheRCScotsman
      @TheRCScotsman  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Nice. The Element is also a great truck. With the exception of the shock issue (talked about on previous video), the kit was really nice to build.

      @@TheRCScotsman I spoke too soon, I found a gso2f bom at a good price ,built ,hilux cab ,without the fender liners/reinforcement and with the diagonal mounted rear dampers (seem best for climbing) so have both now lol , defo more play in the gmade axles and the springs seem very hard in comparison ,I think I may get element dampers for the gmade and also roll back to a more traditional rear damper arrangement

      @@TheRCScotsman honestly was an offer I couldn't refuse.under 200 and already built from the kit with a hilux cab,all had to fit was a servo for the 2 speed and a receiver .Also met a couple of other folks go rock crawling with ,really shocked how firm the rear springs are, and had exactly same problem with dampers as yourself.Droop is almost none existant especially compared the the Sandero,so defo more aimed at climbing rather than trail.

      @@grrfy That's a steal! You can get the shocks working, but they're (dynamically) the weakest part of the truck.

      @@TheRCScotsman Shimming fixed the issue for you? Also thanks so much for your reply!

      @TheRCScotsman  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@thewaycook3994 I really can't say. I shimmed the axles on my old GS02, because they were a bit notchy. It worked perfectly, for 2 years.
      I never did shim the axles on my GS02F, the axles on that seemed to have better tolerances (just a quirk of manufacturing). However, my GS02F, in just a couple of months, totally wore-away the bevel gear. I don't think having no shims affected it. I think it's because of the different gearbox, the 2-speed and the front overdrive that has simply put more load on the front axle on the GS02F, compared to the same axles in the GS02.
      Also, you're welcome!

      @@TheRCScotsman I’m running lead weights wrapped completely around the front wheels 3 times in the front wheels and 2 lines in the rear, my Komodo has been consistently taking 1st and 2nd place at local events but I’m going through front bevel gears in about 4-5 packs. I’ll try shimming but I think deleting overdrive might be more beneficial to the durability. The rear bevel is still going strong. I’m on my 4th front bevel and it’s making nasty sounds already. Thanks for taking time to respond. I love your videos keep up the good work!
