I enjoy your analysis every bit as much as the singers / vocalist redition of these songs. My son is a Autistic young man, he so loved music as a baby and young child I encourage him by taking him for piano lessons. The instructor was ex Russian Opera singer, this women loved music. ( Reminds me of your passion for music) On James third week of lessons she ask if she could have a word with me after James lesson, alone?. I returned after his lesson where she ask "how many years has James been taking lessons?" I said three weeks why do you ask? She said the first week she showed James on the piano notes and how they sound, she was shocked the next week as James got every note she played correct, in order to impress upon me how rare this she drove it home by explaining she had college age students who have been students thier whole life yet could not do what James did in one week! Reminding me the students she taught were 22/23 years old!. I didn't say anything about this conversation to James right away, I waited a couple days before asking him how he was able to memorize the notes? He said simply "I can see the note and they are all different colors, I just remembered what color each note is ! Mind blown...not yet? I asked "where do you see them?" Just a I little annoyed he answered, "when she plays a note the note is right there in front of me!" Where I asked? "In the air over the piano!" Mind blown for sure god does bestow talents where needed, I think you too love music so much and for me it is inspiring, keep up the good work...music is food for the soul and conscience!

This is my favorite reaction that you have done. I really enjoyed watching you squirm around in the best parts of the song. Perhaps a seatbelt would be a good thing when reacting to him LOL. This was great! Regarding the song, it's a good song, but Geoff catches me with those low notes he throws in there. Harmonizing with himself was a nice touch so we can see his range, and he has a huge range. Thank you for your analysis, and your efforts making these videos. Take care and stay safe.
I was really impressed that he sang in his falsetto and sub-harmonic in the same progression near the end; I think it might have been in the same chord.
When he begins with the keyboard, the last chord of the intro with his left hand he plays the lowest key. Then he sings that lowest key as the lead register. Look at it, you will see.

If you haven't seen it already, he does a cover of Radiohead's 'High and Dry' that's even more impressive than this, believe it or not. And it's in the original key 😮
Pretty sure that note you were trying to identify was an A1. It sounded like a G#1 to me too, but an A would make more sense with the chord. That should be an A chord in this key. You wouldn't normally put a G# in the bass on an A chord. If you're going to sing a major 7th chord you almost always put the 7th on top to avoid the minor 9th interval. Besides, it didn't sound like a major 7th chord. It sounded like a straight major.
I think what I like best about this piece is his resonance. In some other pieces (like My Mother Told Me) he gets very edgy in the bass. This one his tone is so much smoother. Yes, some of that is in post, but post can't take a very edgy sound and make it this smooth. So not only can he hit those crazy low notes, he can give them life and nuance.
I love all of your reactions, but am surprised that you haven't reacted to Glennis Grace of Holland. Her own song Afscheid is incredible, her cover of Bon Jovi's Always is magnificent and her rendition of Whitney Houston's I wanna run to you is superb. I do not have your ears, or your depth of knowledge. But I DO like/appreciate what I hear.
I love all of your reactions, but am surprised that you haven't reacted to Glennis Grace of Holland. Her own song Afscheid is incredible, her cover of Bon Jovi's Always is magnificent and her rendition of Whitney Houston's I wanna run to you is superb. She can sound exactly like Whitney, but she has her own voice and is nothing but lungs. I hope you give Glennis, one of the world's premier vocalists a chance and react to her. Thanks. Eric
You should listen to Geoff's 5 octave assault on Voiceplay's OOGIE BOOGIE SONG.
