As someone who has used about every inch of all my plates...the extra wide bits on the middle ones are protecting the floor. I've landed on many a rock that would likely have pocked holes in the floor...they are there for a reason. And no, the middle skid plates are not causing you to high center, its either the gas take skids, or the exhaust system that is primarily your hang-up. And you can't move the exhaust up any higher because of the driveshaft that is literally 1/2" above the exhaust...and you need some flex space for when things hit the exhaust...of that will push into the driveshaft and cause all sorts of issues. And the heatshield scooping mud into the driveshaft is not the fault of the skid plates... The skidplates were designed the way they were for reasons, but if you want to ignore that and save a total of 30 lbs on a 5,000 lb vehicle. Now i've had nearly 40 lbs of mud on top of my engine and transmission plates before...but yeah, 'saving' 30 lbs by making the middle plates smaller isn't going to help you much.
Thanks for your thoughts. It seems you took a close look at this video. The KL has a well protected undercarriage that's for sure. The exhaust is a bit of a bummer though.
I’ve used every inch of the skid plates on my 2021 and haven’t gotten stuck yet.I call them my mud plates because they hold more mud then they do stop it.

I’d do better if I’d apply more momentum for sure. Tried to see if I could creep through, but that was a fail being bone stock + no mo.
I paid extra to get trailhawk because they come with skid plates. especially if you have scratches on them. so what's the difference on the mpg?
Thanks for watching! I'm sure the mpg loss is quite small due to the weight of the skid plates.
Its serious protection for this type of vehicle ! If you dont want skid plates buy a CR-V !
It is very serious protection. Sorry I hurt your feelings!
Give me the front skid
what are you gonna do with it?
@@coblaze1 I will install it in my vehicle
