I watched a TH-camr disassemble the Compact and remove the valve block. End result: I'm so happy yesterday I bought two of these. They will be a welcome addition to my HDR 50, HDP 50, and HDB 68 shotgun-style beast. (Yes, all my Umarex guns are hopped up to get max Joules. 😁)
@@seanismboi It gives the Compact more hitting power, meaning a well-placed shot is going to motivate the perp to flee in terror. Shooting my aluminum rounds from HomeDefence-24 my chrono shows 325 FPS. Yes, after the first three shots the power decline is down to Nerf Dart impact power.
Yes, an individual advertising as complete technology solutions on TH-cam sells some of these and modified the compact for just over 20 Joules the other day by removing the valve block.
I have a hdp50 compact and its like factory 9 joules for 1 gram pepper balls, rubber and 1.5 nylons balls, lower 400 to upper 300ish fps and i assume 2.8 alluminum balls or rubber steel balls would give it mid 200 fps without mod?
Quick question that hopefully you can answer. If I shoot the 4 shots. Can I reload and shoot until the Co2 cannister is empty. Or do I have to expel all the gas to reload and shoot again. Because that would be a very wasteful if just target shooting in the backyard. Hopefully you’ll know.
If you use just the rubber balls, is it legal too use in NJ, and NY? I heard supposedly that if it resembles a firearm, you can't have it, so I'm wondering if that includes the fluorescent orange less-than-lethal style guns?
Mr. Hinkle I think I you can legally own this gas gun in nj & ny but I would not recommend conceal carrying it. Only maybe if your in the woods. Stick with a good pepper spray & EDC Knife.
First, I have a question. What gun does this most resemble in the opinion of the community and/or the comment section? Also, any word on whether this will shoot the rubber and steel powder balls the regular HDP will shoot? Also, this thing is going to come down in price in the not-too-distant future. I want the gun, actually pretty badly, but maybe not quite at full price. I have one more question I just thought of. The market for these really has taken off. Has anyone done a comprehensive comparison and/or list of these various items? Maybe their strengths, weaknesses?
I think the price will climb unfortunately. Especially with a bad economy. Also those little 8 gram C02's are hella hard to find. Not even BIG-5 has them.
If in the most common 5' to 15' close quarters situation where you need MORE than four shots to deter or eliminate a threat, having two additional rounds in the "clip/tube" are NOT going to help you.
@@FoundingTH-camr-2005 well we have to agree to disagree on that, I carry a 9 mm and I would like to use non-lethal to it's full capability before I have to kill someone. Thank you for answering with your comment though. I'm going to assume you thought it was an intelligent response and helpful.I always like to see the best in people. I'm hoping you're not just some internet troll that just needed to say something just to be the man today. Have a great day!
Blackpowderpapa : The selling point of this item is it's compact size. If you have to patrol outside your house because you heard a loud noise you can stick it in your pocket. Makes a "great just in case" back-up.
Yes, its not a fire arm (no gun powder). Ex cons can own air guns. There are ex con you tubers talking about air guns for self defence, but you can, and should research it. Never take the word of a stranger, so check your state's laws.
On my Compact shooting 2.8 gram aluminum rounds from HomeDefence-24, I'm getting chrono readings in the 325 FPS range because a 2.8 gram round is really light. The only "mod" was removing the valve block AND the air restrictor inside the CO₂ chamber. And because I can't stand that funky looking trigger guard (that makes the Compact look like something Mickey Mouse would wear as a sidearm), I removed that too. It really doesn't serve any function IMO (mainly because until I puncture the CO₂ , the Compact is totally safe, and after I puncture the CO₂ it is NOT going back into a pocket or holster with a "live cartridge"). Oh, and I also Dremeled* off the curve in the edges under the barrel. Now with the hand covering the CO₂ actuator cap, the Compact looks to be a firearm. Cool if that's the look you want when facing a perp; rather than appear a deputized member of Mickey Mouse's posse. I'm very pleased with my Compact setup, so much so it is now my daily carry. Bonus Tip: Now I'm thinking of gluing one of my old micro laser sights somewhere on the front of the Compact. Bore sight that suckka, I'm going to be the king of the county. (Yes, I have bouts of delusions of grandeur.) *Like the way I made "Dremel" (a product name) into a verb; is there no end to my kewl-ness.
Whoa. That's really great.
Make sure you have a lethal option or a way out of the situation in case the less lethal option doesn't deter the threat.

It just give it more range / pain if you get hit with it? I imagine it eats more c02 by removing the valve block ?

What video showed that mod?
does the c02 pierce when installed or upon the first shot

That Allen key tank access key is a show stopper for me.
The loader door will stop releasing the follower. Do it by hand. (thumb)
Do you have to have 4 rounds loaded to keep them from falling out of the barrel when pointed horizontal or downward?

Is it possible to load 1 round in the barrel first (seat it) and then load the mag with 4 more balls?
Figured it would be a 4-shot....didnt expect one barrel...
Do guns usually have more than one barrel where your from?
Just wondering; how hard would a shot impact a person? Would it scare off?
Around 14 joule. Using a rubber slug it would defo hurt, but I'm not sure it would scare everyone

I think in winter with tick clothing, a perp is not going to feel anything.

Yes you can reload and fire until the CO2 empties. I don’t know how long a CO2 cartridge once punctured will be useable.

I would suggest you contact the district attorney or prosecutor whatever they refer to them as in your state and ask that question. Take care.

@nopc9728 the 8gm co2 on Ebay used in soda machines
I have the old version it holds 6 thats a downer 4? Wtf
I'm not going to pay more money for a weapon that holds less rounds than it's Big brother. I only paid $88 for the full size.
