Alan Magdaleno, As an Asian i respect that and i love Mexicans as well as most of my friends have been Mexican. However, Japan and China don't represent all of Asia or Asian culture. Asia stretch from Turkey all the way to Indonesia. 48 countries in Asia. Still love the appreciation.

What I love about fung bros is their really expressive about themselves and proud of who they are . And their videos of what they love show it from talking being Asian (lifestyle , now generation , food , topics ) , our generation of what we love to do , what advice we need , anything to connect to us.

Growing up Multiracial (my dad is Filipino and my mom is Caucasian) The three things that helped shape who I am are
    1. The importance of education. At a very early age my parents instilled in me the importance of being curious and learning as much you can. One of my dad's favorite sayings is "you are never too old to learn and you are never too stubborn to grow."
    2. Food, it has always been a way for me to explore other cultures and share the cultures that make me who I am to others.
    3. Film has always been a form of escape for me and a way for me to tell a story. Film is more than entertainment it is also an overlooked art form.

    1. I like to eat experimentally, bc duh cooking in an Asian household will stick with you --- right up to the stink on my clothes (but it smelt delicious af tho!)
    2. family reunions are always loud, dramatic and fun, which is something I'd like to continue now at uni with my friends and loved ones.
    3. travelling, whether it's long ass road trips to the middle of nowhere or a 13 hour flight to the motherland, was always fun bc we never lost a sense of who we were wherever we spent holidaying together.

I'm Pinay and my fam isn't particularly artsy, but I was always reading or writing or drawing or watching growing up. And it was the combo of American and Filipino media and storytelling that led me to want to create stories as well. It wasn't until university where I learned about Fil-Am history and was intro'd to books by Pinay authors. I never had those growing up, but it's great to see a thriving literary community for Fil-Ams like me who want to do the same things.

Being from the Caribbean, we have a lot of cultural things. Some even have asian influences. StCroix is my home and I love the food, the togetherness, the way our parents, or even the whole island, would raise a child, the fairs and events, the dialect, just everything makes me love cultures and togetherness. Coming to the states by mysef was tough, because there isn't much of that here. Or at least I can't find it.

Love these perspective vids! For me, it's always been about learning the culture then flexing or integrating it with others in order to embrace it all. Like with taekwondo, I learned the basics then used that to learn boxing and parkour which has me appreciating each so much more. The same goes with Korean cuisine and the history of Asia. I live in the DC area where Korean flavors are integrating with everything now and it took a while to get over the frustrations of the past but now I'm just trying to keep the conversations moving forward. Also the lessons of political developments that have taken place all over Asia and applying that to my work in policy and trade has been really eye-opening and fulfilling.

My aunt is Thai and I just love watching her cook. She literally wakes up early in the morning to cook breakfast which are Thai dishes; she literally is done at like 10 or 11am just to cook breakfast and that's amazing to me. She's been cooking by herself for my uncle and my cousin for years so she is like new to all the women in the family helping her out in the kitchen and I just want her to feel that her niece is willing to learn lol! This video is amazing by the way!

For me, I feel my Punjabi South Asian culture is unknown to those from outside the culture.
I want to celebrate the best things from my culture and one of the best things is food!
I understand my culture and have pride in being who I am. But I also mingle with other cultures on a geographical level (East Asian culture, American, British etc) and also things like gaming to hip hop to fashion and football!
My goals are to explore cultures whilst representing my culture to the fullest by being myself and enjoying life.
The 3 things that affected me growing up were -
    - My religious upbringing (Although im not particularly religious, it shaped me to always see the good in people)
    - Learning to cook at a young age (Appreciation of foods from all over the world)
    - Watching Manchester United with my family (Taught me to have pride in what I love and who I am!)
I want this to reflect in my TH-cam channel and I want to show the world who I am and the way my culture shaped me!

Got a lot of love for this video. Absolutely so important, especially for diasporic kids growing up separated from their home culture.
My folks came to UK from HK and we've been in catering a long time. I grew in a house with lots of food and lots of hard work. Learning how to cook from my Mum - traditional foods, medicinal foods, all about different ingredients and when to use them - is such a huge part of my life. Thinking about festival foods now since it's coming up to Mid-Autumn. So much moon cake.
I think you're right: one of the most important things is language. So much meaning behind each character - perfect formations combining art with literature and physical space. Definitely right about the way it makes you think in a different way, too. There's flow and order to everything; most interesting thing is that you can learn so much from your surroundings. Total artsy type!
Let's not forget that language just brings you that step closer to your family - the roots and the lives of relatives you may never get the chance to meet because of age or distance. Total strangers too! Best moment I've experienced is grocery shopping with my Mum, speaking in Cantonese, and suddenly being approached by a Chinese lady who was very excited because she hadn't heard Cantonese outside her own home before. Language has such strong powers to connect people. I'm so glad my Mum taught me and urged me to go to Chinese school.
Thanks so much for uploading guys! Your hard work is always appreciated :)

    Loved this video!!
In my case, both of my parents were born and raised in the USA. My mom's family is Polish and Slovak and my dad's family is African american, Native American, French and Irish..... my parents had to deal with a lot from being an interracial couple....so they always instilled in my sister and I the need to look for the good in all cultures. Sadly, my grandparents didnt feel it was important to pass things like language down.. so learning languages as a way to expand my world view has been more of a personal goal verses a cultural leaning.. however, i do enjoy connecting to parts of my culture through food like Pierogies, saurkraut and pork ect... or the desire to make things by hand through fiber arts which is actually apart of my business

Awesome video! Really got a feel for your background and love of culture. As a half Japanese in a younger generation certainly alt/nerd pop culture has greatly influenced me, I'm a nerd and proud of being a nerd. In addition being half Japanese half Mexican, it's a weird thing around food since I have two vastly different cultures to deal with. Lastly, martial arts and similar disciplines help me to have a constant hobby where I feel connected to the world at large and my heritage.

3 things having an impact in my life have to do with culture, I'm Asian American (Filipino) and I learned so much about life from my culture. I valued everything I have because my family in the motherland doesn't have as much as I do, I never take advantage of education because some people in the Philippines don't get a good education or job opportunities, and I learned to speak Tagalog, I love all Filipino dishes, there's not one that grosses me out or dislike, I'm familiar with everything in my culture and I just love my culture. I won't credit my culture for everything I achieved but I can say that I showed that Asian Americans can be successful and I let my family know in the motherland that us Filipinos are doing fine in America, we do have struggles and a long way to go, but Asians will make it big in America one day

Being Black, something that kept us together is Ebonics. Ebonics is a Black dialect of English that helps us and brings us together since we are all a mix of Africans and don't know how to speak our native tongues. Another thing that kept us together is Hip Hop which was a way for us to express ourselves in the rawest of ways to a mass audience. Lastly, our food. Our "Soul food" is our baby. There is no eay Blacks can get together and not have it. Everybody has their dish and they have to make it or the family is not complete.

3 things from my Asian (Chinese) culture, which is Food, Ancient Chinese culture (mostly before Qing dynasty) and newly growing Chinese Hip-pop
Chinese foods made me going to a major of Food Science, because I feel like Asian people are the best foodies in the world (just figured out it's not related to my profession :(
I just paid attention to Chinese Hip-pop, which really impressed me with their effort, and their talent. I feel like Ancient Chinese style beats and flows are cool. Actually people in the old time were singing the poems
Thank you guys for making these fantastic videos, from such a special perspective :)

Being raised in a Polish/Ukrainian culture, it always nice learning from my mom, who learned from her mom (my baba), how to prepare and cook what we called "lazy holopchi" (deconstructed holopchi with rice and ranch added) with hand -made perogies with a ranch and black peppercorn infused mashed potato filling in them, all while wearing kapcie (pronounced cop-chi) on our feet is always a good thing in fall/winter seasons; really warms the soul. 3 things... Heritage wise, I'm basically token white guy. That said I think my early exposure to Japanese people and culture ended up having more impact on me for the positive than walking stereotype that was forced on me. Food, gaming, music, everything really is what I gravitated towards as it was different and interesting and showed me there was a lot more out there than the obnoxious mess that I got stuck with. If anything I'd say me heritage inspired disdain for closed minded ideas and old outdated concepts that keep people from being happy. Seeing a culture I was a fan of and wanted to get in on also kind of inspired me to be a bit more appreciative of being an American, as this country is supposed to be about bringing all cultures together and making something good from it. So I basically said " fuck it, I'll pick a culture I like" and rolled with it instead of being forced into one that just isn't me. And I'd say I've been a better person as a result

Well, let me see...Despite being a proud American (born & raised), I still get the sudden urge every now and then, to eat beans or plantains (chips, etc),,due to my Hispanic background and home I grew up in. That's about it, because even with that being said, everything else was pretty American. Also, almost forgot, gossip sites and such- due to Latino novela talk and celebrity gossip.
