You are so right about loving our cloth, I tell that to my daughters all the time when we go shopping and they want something, I say : I'll buy it for you only if you are in love with it, many times they'll say : not really, and move on, we should only buy and wear things we love and feel great in it. You have given me framework to help shop, organize, purge and say "hey it's ok if this worked when I was this weight but now that I've gained weight it doesn't AND I can still find something I can rock" Oooo I'm not going to have a lot of clothes left in my closet LOL

I just recently bought a decorative bamboo ladder that I placed against the wallbeside my dresser for all my jewelry. It works great.
Great advice. My solution to purging my closet was to lose over 40 pounds. Since the only things that still fit were socks and shoes I was forced to purge everything else. And am working on slowly rebuilding my wardrobe with pieces love and the workhorse type basics.

I'm at this point. About 10 lbs from goal but my pants are too big. Don't know what to do in the interim. Trip to consignment shop due.
I never have to worry about keeping things that no longer fit, are worn, or not worn often...I have a daughter who goes through my closet and donates those items for me. She doesn't even tell me, she just does it. When I try to complain, she just kisses my cheek and says "You're Welcome!" and walks away. Lol!!!

Love your channel & you! I have cleaned out my closet and I truly have nothing to wear lol.moving to a new area in the country, losing 50 lb. and still going, " why do I still have this!" Has left me with a clean space to start from. Also has helped me to know that it's ok to not have something to wear for a bit. So with the hand full of items that I still have am going to work with what I have, see what might be tailor and make my list to shop from.
Thanks for the good tips....I think the question, “would I buy this again?”, really helps to zero in on pcs that we keep but don’t really like. I think this question might help me to edit because I have trouble getting rid of things because I think I might regret it. If I wouldn’t ever buy it again, then that pretty much says it all. Haha

I'm just in the midst of a closet purge and am so glad I saw your video while I am still doing it. The question about 'would I buy this today?' is really going to help me to get rid of pieces that I am not that excited about but hang onto 'just in case'. Thank you!!!

The '3 ways' question has saved me sooooo much since I started watching this channel. I really try to look critically at something new I want to buy, to see if it fits me physically and if it fits my existing wardrobe.

I clean out my collection regularly now - I've made it a habit, so it's getting really easy to let go of worn out/ unworn, fads or unflattering items. I just wish my closet was bigger and/or more easily accessible!
Great tips! Whenever I'm doing a closet purge, always get rid of things I haven't worn recently. If it's been a year since I wore something, then I can't see myself keeping it. I have been known to keep a few things "just in case" they come back in style again, such as something with a paisley pattern. Also, I admit to being guilty of keeping things I "might" diet back into LOL. I'm lucky enough to have a walk-in closet with shelves so I can store a lot. But that's what I feel sometimes leads me to overfill it. But generally speaking, I do purges twice a year---in spring and fall. Most of it either goes to Goodwill or I give some of it away. I just found your channel so I'm binge watching :)

This is GREAT advice. I’m good at reassessing and purging twice a year...(I live in Florida with basically 2 seasons). Using your tips, I’ll refine the process. I also use the motto that If I haven’t worn something in two years...it goes, leaving space for something new. 😎

My biggest issue purging is trying to convince myself that ratty t-shirts shouldn't become pajama tops. I need to get rid of all that and get nice pj's !!
You going to bed should still make you feel beautiful. How nice would be feel to pull out a comfortable AND cute pair of pyjamas that you LOVE? Pass on the ratty tee -- get something that makes you feel good!

Great tips. What I've found to be especially helpful are the questions ”Would you buy this item again?”, ”Can you style this 3 times?” and Take pictures of the look. I've been doing this (randomly) for the past couple of weeks and my husband just cracks up. I told him ”If I don't take a picture, I'll forget all about it.”
You look so polished:) please could you make a video on what acsessories to wear when we use GLASSES? I feel like a decorated tree when I add long earrings or necklaces and at the same time wear glasses...uhh. I wear glasses much more often then contacts but still I want the variety acsessories adds. So please , HELP!!!!! :)

Ever since I started watching you my sister in law and niece have getting a lot of clothes from me. Lol I’ve finally got rid of the “you never know” pieces. Plus they needed the clothes more than I did and they actually get worn. 😝

This is all exactly my husband. He is so minimalist.
Ok, I am going to try to post some pictures on instigram for you. A couple of years ago, I rebuilt the inside of my closet with a stand from Home Depot. So there is a High and Low side with two bars and a High side for dresses. In the middle there is a Shelf stack about a foot wide where I can put either folded items, shoes, or accessories. I recently took the shoes out and have them on the bottom row of my 9 squares of bins (I have two) which I use as drawers. I love to keep stuff past it's usefulness, also, what do I do with the T-shirts? Love all your videos especially these, you are so positive and give such great advice. Thanks again, Maren

Sometimes I can not find an item that is almost the same as the one I loved, but I get rid of it anyways. If I get something similar even if it is not the same, I remind myself that variety is the spice of life, and try not to be sad.

Thanks for this really good video - I aleady read a lot of organisation books, but you still had new tipps for me. Why I have items in my closet that I dont love or fit 100%: guilty of that one ;-) Often it is because of a very talented sales lady in a store that convinced me that I need this item. Found a pretty dress which I bought 2 years ago ans never wore. How to protect myself from these ladies? Any tipp would be highly appreciated. Greetings from Germany!!
I always say it's good to check with yourself in the change -room mirror and see how YOU feel about something that you're wearing before asking the advice of any sales reps. At the end of the day, most of them will sell because they're on commission, or will sell to people based on "what's on trend", rather than looking at whether something flatters someone's body type (as they typically have no idea). Do a gut check and see if you feel it looks right on you first...your intuition is usually never wrong. xo

I’m doing a make over on my moms closet for her since she is not able to do any closet purging on her own. I want her to have a gift that she can benefit from.
What would you suggest I do for concert shirts? I have about 14-15 of them that I don't really wear all that often, but I can never get rid of them.
Samantha Rae you could make a quilt or maybe some throw pillows out of them! Pinterest has tons of diy things you can do with old shirts
I find that a lot of my clothes pill sooo fast (within 1 or 2 wears) because of how cheap it seems all women's clothing is made. I feel like some pilling is ok, but often I'm not sure when a garment has hit that point where it really should not be worn anymore. Can you make a video with some visual examples of how to know when a garment is done?
And then, what do you do with it? I don't want to donate it bc it's worn out, but I dont want to throw it away bc it's not falling apart.

take photos of jewelry and other accessories. Keep the photos to make easy choices, or hang with the outfit in a ziploc bag.
I changed 3 times this morning, my mommy tummy is hard to work around. Wish I could afford a new wardrobe, but have to settle for mediocre fit. So long as I'm not in front of the mirror, I can pretend I look great in my outfit. #accessoriesaremybestfriend
It’s not necessary to opt for a new wardrobe, but changing things out slowly, is a great way to get to where you want. You deserve the best!

2 walk-in closets & one-half closet with nothing to wear, Plus a full rack in the middle of the floor..Still can't clean it out..After watching your video I'm going to shut my eyes & start cleaning out, I bet I have 200 scarves & 100 pairs of shoes not counting the Boots & Shooties...Coats galore, I'm a Belt attic too, LOL, LOL..."GREAT VIDEO", I'm in the mood now to start giving away, I love my jeans & still have tags on some of them...Everytime I say I'm going to clean my closets I get side tracked...LOL
Lol, you’re not alone! But no point in keeping things you don’t love or use. Experiment with what you have and toss what you’re not obsessed with! Xo
I guess you could always box them up and put them away in storage or always display them like in a frame? 🤔
Is it okay to keep an item that literally only matches with one other thing in my closet ?
If you love it, sure! But there must be a way to layer it with something else, or maybe an accessory that might help it go with something else. Maybe try and build on that piece in future, or if you aren’t smitten with it, I’d say donate.

Getting rid of things that don't fit that great is hard. I lost 30 pounds, and then gained it back. But, I want to keep things, in case I lose the weight again. I also have a friend, that is mad, because she purged her closet, of clothes that didn't fit anymore, and then lost 50 pounds. So not too keen of getting rid of things, that don't fit.
The more I watch you the more you look like the younger version of Kris Jenner 😀
