I had the pleasure of meeting Jennifer at her store-JD’s. I happened to be in the area for a conference a few weeks ago. The store is so precious and Jennifer is so sweet and personable. She helped me pick out some lovely decor for my coffee table. I am so glad I took the time to go to the store. I didn’t expect to see Jennifer let alone meet her and have her help me. Thank you so Jennifer! I love the stuff we picked out at the store. It’s just out the space needed!!
@@JenniferDecorates Hello Jennifer. I had such a wonderful visit to your store and wanted to share with the community. I appreciated you took the time to help me and learn about me (and my dogs). Thank you again. I will certainly return to the store in the future.
I think one of the most important elements of design is to have a focal point in every room. A room without a focal point feels aimless and random. I would put that as number 1 of all rules.
Iwas in Tennessee to visit my Grandaughter in springhill! Not to far from Jennifers store! I did get the chance to visit with her at her store.she is so sweet! The store is beautiful..Thankyou Jennifer for making my day.
Thank you for the video!! You provide such great information and inspiration. I can't imagine how much time videos must take but please know, we all love them and miss them when you don't post.
I love lamps, I use over head lights in my kitchen and bathrooms. I have 2-3 lamps in most rooms, even the kitchen. They just give a soft warm feel. Thank you I enjoyed this video.
Love your channel. I was raised with very traditional upper scale furnishings. I struggle with the modern farmhouse and traditional. Your advice is much appreciated.
As a fellow designer, i would completely disagree. The biggest and first advice is to actually plan. That's what any designer does. Measure the area. Always look at dimensions of items. Influencers never mention this because they don't have actual training in design. So they won't think of traffic patterns, clearance, etc. Planning is the main help most non industry decorators need. The color palette is part of your mood board and would come in the first step or two for a designer. Not sure why it's last here. 🤷♀️
Great tip abbot scale, as I think that’s one of the hardest for us non pros to tackle. Would love to see more on this with real life examples in various spaces. Thanks!
Thank you for your video! I have been struggling to find something that would help me with the master bedroom. I have had so much stress and anxiety over making huge mistakes. I’ve waited 24 years to be able to finally do something with this space. I’m stressed over the wrong paint color and what to do with the floor. I even bought a rug a year ago and now I don’t know if I can use it. We have decided to do carpet and in stuck with a beautiful Huge rug. 😢😬😵💫😵💫😵💫
Great tips, well explained and well illustrated. Thank you, Jennifer. I see faults in some of my rooms, but you have shown how to deal with those mistakes.
Great video. I especially like the look of elegant warmth! I’m not a black and grey decor girl and am so happy to see browns, creams and blues returning.
Love your videos! Would you please do a video on picking the right area rug! Size, color, etc. moved into a new home and I’m having a very difficult time. Thank you! Need ASAP😀
You are so good at giving us tips we can do ourselves! Would love to go to JDs one day and see the decor items! Love all of your videos and you make it easier to decorate! Thank you so much!🥰😍🥰
Jennifer, do you feel that woods should match? Like black coffee table and black end tables? Also, what about metals? Polished silver faucet and brass doorknobs… should they natch or is different ok?
hi i like your videos ,u r best pls advice me i bought mirror media table my living room is too dark because i have brown leather sofas previous table was also dark mirror table is good .to break the dark colour.
Hi Jennifer, I love your videos always helpful ❤. We just moved to a new home, can you please give me an idea on how to arrange our furniture in the livingroom? We have 3 seater sofa and 2 arm chairs, 1 coffee table, 3 side tables, 1 big tv unit. ..All white walls. One big window on the front wall and the door is on the left wall. I find it quite difficult. Hope you will notice me. Thanks very much.
Hi. I am wanting to paint the bead board ceiling in my beach cottage. House is 100 years old. And everything is decorator white and classic gray. Woujd you recommend a color thst woujd look good for my ceiling. Other than white. ? Thank you.
Jennifer I have a real dilemma: I have matte black linear light in dining room and matte black pendants in the entryway next to it. However I love French country white fixtures as well. I want to incorporate antique white and gold in my kitchen lights and over kitchen table (kitchen faucet is black and gold). Is there a way to do it or no? Matte black fixtures are new and can be returned as an option. Oh also plenty of vids on mixing metals but can you do a video on mixing metals and light fixtures that have faux finishes (ie painted type finishes that aren't really a metal?)
You absolutely can mix metals in light fixtures! My rule is to not mix more than two! In my kitchen, I have a brass faucet, and black sconces. My dining room, which you can see from the kitchen has a beaded French chandelier! Hope this helps.
Jennifer, I love your talents. You make a room perfect. However, all of the rooms that you have shown are upscale, clean and uncluttered. Have you or will you ever style a room with loved, inherited clutter?? I know those decorated rooms look so beautiful but there is no ...character, personality, not right words, clutter, know what I mean?? I have so much stuff from a list of older relatives that I just can't part with. Too much stuff but most with a story or they are antiques by now. Can, will you please help us sentimental cluttered people that need more than the 3 item rules?? I bet you'd be helping a lot of people besides me!! Thank you for all the information that we can use. 😊
great content thanks. IMO though, you may want to consider and listen to the way you vocalize. In particular your hard emphasis and endings of sentences, and the way you project your voice - to avoid appearing that you are speaking loudly at the viewer. Also you'd benefit from looking straight at the screen, instead of tilting your chin upwards...

If I have a sofa with just two seating pillows (snowbird rental) on my sofa, should I use three pictures or two?
1. Lighting Layering
2. Rule of 3 balancing
3. Scaled decor....go large
4. Cohesive colourpalette
5. Details

Where is your store?
It is located at 1824 Old Fort Parkway Murfreesboro, TN. 37128
You don't have 2 lamps on either side of the sideboard or 2 sconces on either side of the artwork. It's 2 lamps/sconces...one on either side.
Your blog has broken link. 😢
Oh , goodness. Thank you for letting me know! We will get that fixed!

I have failed everytime. I have a fire place at end of my living room and can't figure out how to decorate it . More space on one size. Than other.
Maybe try a cabinet and mirror on one side, and a tall plant on the other? Or a large basket?
