  • Hollyhocks are one of the most beautiful flowers to add to any garden. I have always tried to grow as many things in containers as possible. In small spaces, it may seem impossible to grow Hollyhocks, but today I show you how you can grow them in containers and place them anywhere you want! The containers Hollyhocks from the Spring can be moved to half-shade area as summer arrives, to extend the blooming more. Multiple containers can be used to make a nice arrangement in the yard or patio. Follow my care instruction and keep your potted Hollyhock in a container for years! Hollyhocks produce abundant, large flowers in many bright colors, such as yellow, pink, burgundy, red, etc. Their petals also have forms and patterns that make more varieties. They are a nice flower to spruce up the vegetable garden, the yard, or patio. The beautiful green leaves and the stalks with flowers on make your garden have a different focal point and adds a long season of blooms to enjoy. In this video, I show you how to grow Hollyhocks, how to care for them, how to collect seeds, and more. The best way though to grow your favorite varieties is to keep your Hollyhock for reblooming, instead of counting on seeds. Seeds often don't come out the same as the plant. Hollyhocks are not demanding. They are tolerant and tough. But, in containers, they need more watering. Container Hollyhocks grow shorter, which is another great benefit! I also show you how to collect seeds to get new varieties and to share with others. Thanks for visiting my garden today!

Yes, they are quite possible to grow in containers. and you can make move them to different places based on your interest and based on climate conditions.

In warm climates, they come back every year. And, each year, trimming will allow more blooing in the same year before winter!

Beautiful. How many seeds did you put in the pot?

Some seed packs have better germination. I generally would use at least 3 with the regular seed quality. You can also place more seeds in a larger planter and transplant some of the seedlings out to other containers. Thank you for watching.

First time this year! Do they attract a lot of bees? Trying to figure out where to put them to avoid wind, too much sun, too little sun, in containers that won’t be too close to walkways?

Hi. They do not attract too many bees, compared to more fragrant flowers. If your area gets too hot, place them in morning sunlight and provide half-shade in the afternoon. If you place rocks at the bottom of your planters and water well, they should do well in the wind. But, serious winds may force you to support the flower stalks. Hope this helps.
