So delicious cold in the summer. Just put your water in pot on stove. When it comes to rolling boil, throw in 1 handful of the roasted barley and turn the heat off after 10 minutes. When water cools to room temperature, strain out barley (throw barley out) and refrigerate the liquid. Keeps about 5 days in the fridge. This is how my Korean mother in law made it. I never had it hot or with sweetner but bet it's great that way too. In the summer I drink chilled bori Cha (Japanese call it mugi Cha), green tea or tea de Jamaica which is hibiscus tea. Barley tea is my fave but the other 2 have more cancer prevention power.
Barley tea is sooo delicious! I drink it as a cold brew every day as well as I do with the sencha but warm is fantastic too. It smells divine and it's so healthy!
I tried your suggestion of putting raw pearl barley in a hot skillet. I stirred it around until it became a deeper brown colour and it totally worked! ❤ I boiled those roasted barley kernels in water and when I tasted it, the tea had a soft sweetness to it. I enjoyed the whole pot without any sweeteners added. So lovely! Thank you. 😊
Oooh boy! Yum yum when you added the honey 🍯. I checked out your video on roasted corn and now roasted barley. How about putting both roasted corn and roasted barley together? Thank you for this video- Heather
This is a good method if you want to try it for first time and you never tried other tea with similar taste like genmaicha/roasted rice green tea or roasted corn tea. Boiling would make a super strong aroma and taste, probably not suitable for everyone. If you want an even more milder taste, use cold brew method: crush the barley a little bit into a jar, put cold water and leave it overnight.

An easier method is to put the barley into a clean drip coffee maker. Try it. Taste is amazing
I love roasted barley and corn tea! ❤
Great video thank you
If I want to drink it cold, do I still cook it with hot water first or can I brew it with cold water?

Is there any reason you can't grind the roasted barley in a coffee grinder? Especially when using a french press? Thanks
