    • @jennifermeekeells2082
      @jennifermeekeells2082 4 ปีที่แล้ว +13

      Jen W - OMAD is one meal a day. That gives me a 23 hour fasting window... it's very powerful in losing weight and promoting "clean up" of damaged cells in my body, called autophagy. Dr. Berg has videos on how to gradually cut out snacking and eat 3 keto meals a day, then down to 2 meals a day, then just one very nutrient dense meal. For me, it has been a game changer. I weighed 274 lbs when I started at the end of December 2018. I've lost a total of 140 lbs, and I am so much healthier. It's been an incredible journey. I walked 4 miles last night, hardly broke a sweat, and could've kept walking, but it was getting dark... LOL!

    I went Keto for 2years, I ate a lot of high nutrients, vegetables, fish, not really low calorie, threw in some 24-48h fast, some OMAD, all very fine, lost 44 pounds, made a lot of physical activity, never had any insulin resistance, result on my metabolism : thyroid function divided by half (still sufficient, I was on the upper limit with 194p and on the lower limit with 150p) - I know one case does not proof anything wrong, so how many can confirm that eating less will not slow down metabolism.

    The way it worked for me... *Eating too few calories caused me a major decrease in my metabolism.
    Although a calorie deficit was needed for weight loss, it was counterproductive for my calorie intake to drop too low. When I dramatically lowered my calorie intake, my body seemed to sense that food was scarce and lowered the rate at which it burned calories.
    Now that I have reached my college wresting weight (134) for six consecutive months, I don't worry about calories anymore. I just continue a stable keto/carnivore diet.*

  • @boondoggle4820
    @boondoggle4820 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    This is why it makes no sense to restrict calories if you’re not also fasting, if you’re still eating frequently. The metabolic switch and keeping insulin low are key to losing weight and keeping your metabolic rate high. Otherwise your body will adjust after a few months and you’ll have to restrict your calories even more in order to lose weight. If you’re doing intermittent fasting and healthy keto, and you’re routinely getting the benefit of the metabolic switch, your body has no need to thwart its energy expenditure. When insulin is low, it simply transitions to using your body fat when your last meal is gone and has no reason to slow down.

Our mindset can be either our number one motivator or number one nemesis. Hey, my first success was when I could bend down and tie my shoes without any trouble. Celebrate feeling better. Celebrate feeling healthy. Weight loss will follow. Don't give up.

      Keep going, it's not a race, for some people in my family it took a while before they started to lose weight.
      Think how long it took you to gain that weight.
      If you want to make it go faster, you could always do time restricted feeding and fasting, now that you are adapted to using fat for fuel it should be easy.
      I recommend starting to compress your feeding window slowly if you like, until you reach 1 or 2 meals per day (1-8hs), most people seem to have good results, myself included.

    I had a question not related to this specific video. I started healthy keto and intermittent fasting in late May, with some off days in the mix. I've lost twenty pounds so far, but I appear to be having kidney issues. I had a comprehensive metabolic panel done in late March where my Glom Filt Rate was 90 ml/min, but it was done again in late July, it was at 65 mil/min, which puts me at mild kidney damage. My doctor asked me if I was eating more protein, to which I said no, as I'm only eating two meals a day instead of three, with an 18-20 hour fasting window, but since I am no longer consuming a lot of carbohydrates, that protein makes up a larger portion of my macros. I've maintained my exercise as well. I take 1-2 glasses of water with salt a day and magnesium, which I started to relieve muscle pain I was having in the back of my legs. I'm also on synthroid, protonix, and medication to lower my cholesterol and triglycerides, all of which I was taking before either panel. With the ketogenic diet being the only significant change, do you have any idea what might be causing this? I'll keep an eye out for any new videos on the topic. Thanks for your time and assistance.

      May be : salt : excess sodium
      Excess protein : dr Berg in some video s talks of moderate protein . Creatinine is higher due to muscle metabolism : waste generated due to exercise , high lipids may exert body more in blood circulation ,
      Sip water from time to time very slow ly so body is more alkaline
      Kidney disease is the worst and most complicated with many health problems and no solutions except dialysis, kidney transplant. Checking GFR is ok, but sodium, potassium, sulfur, blood pressure, sugar hba1c , acidity, protein and Proteinuria body heat ... So many varients affect kidney stone badly. Liquor, smoking overweight ..
      We have a relative on dialysis 3 years. Also had a surgery to remove liquid around heart and lungs, it was causing extreme breath less ness long time ...
      Emergencies any time, rushing to hospital , loss of strength,
      Muscle pain ..
      Please take all care, do tests,
      See 2/3 good videos of patients
      , doctors who fought the disease with some / good success. And please spread the word !! Thank you.

      Not so serious with good treatment options.

      I don't know if this will solve the issue - but only 1-2 glasses of water a day seems low. I would drink more water, perhaps closer to 8 glasses a day.
