    I just did this mod on my porta pro's! You make it seem easier than it actually is. It took me 3 days and a lot of frustration to do this but now they look great and sound great. Thanks!

      Not a lot of headphones with detacheable cables in this price range tbh, apart from ChiFi in-ears..
      If you want 75 dollar Porta Pro`s, sure, but they`re made to fit a price bracket.

    I have been modding and soldering for years but I have never thought to use a piece of putty to hold down what I am working on so that I no longer need to grow a third hand for soldering. Thankyou!

    I used this stuff called milliput to glue the connectors in. It's a epoxy but it has the consitancy of blutac so you can mold it into shape by hand. Perfect for this sort of thing in my opinion. Just remembered I wanted to share that.

    Ok, I love the guides and all but my main request (for this video and all your koss ones specifically) can we get a parts list for the parts that you used?
    I really would like to know what parts and cables you use (really hard to find y-split covers or just which wires to buy)
    Really want to mod my 4 pairs of koss headphones (2 portapros, 1 sportapro, 1 ksc75) and a few other headphones I have but finding parts (the right parts) seems harder than the work itself
    Great work tho, love the channel!

      The volume will go down since there’s more resistance to get to 60ohms. You most likely need to turn the volume up more. Maybe us a dac if you want full sound like before. 10ohms then again won’t make a big difference.

    Thank you for tutorials. Will you also make a video for Grado's detachable cable? Perhaps using SMC/sma connectors? There's some videos online, but they don't show which part is ground on the female SMC mount or on the drivers itself to solder. I hope to put together a wooden Grado headphone from scratch. This is my first time attempt. I found some parts on Etsy for the headband, gimbal, wooden cups, but nothing on the mounting connectors. Any links to parts would be appreciated. Thanks again for your time.

    • @sgaudiohive
      @sgaudiohive  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Anything else outside of the centre pin that is gold plated is the ground. If you were to build on of these, I suggest a more efficient connector like 3.5mm as SMC is not suitable for a dual input design. You can check out what happens to the older SMC hifiman cables after some use. For connectors almost any hardware store should have those as they are general purpose

    How do you find the connections in regards to life span? I think RF push connectors only have a 100 push click life expectancy or something like that. Have you found issues with them wearing out? Also after searching MMCX online I see they have impedance ratings. Does this matter at all when choosing which one to use? I'm interested in doing similar with a vintage set of Pioneer SE-6's I picked up which doesn't have much room for modding.
