Spoiler alert, I like this board!
This seems like the spiritual successor to the B550 Pro VDH / WiFi. This board brings all the good stuff from the B650 chipset, without punching above it's weight and delivers a good starting point for a professional office PC or a decent mid range gaming box.
Potential downsides
GPU slot is quite low, MATX Cases might have cooling issues for the GPU
Limited VRM stages, Overclocking is probably not a good idea here!
No WiFi or Bluetooth unless you buy the more expensive B650M-P WiFi version
No USB Type C ports on the rear IO
Nothing totally terrible just a few things to consider, clearly price is going to be one of the deciding factors here, so check prices before you buy.

I ended up choosing this board after literally weeks of researching AM5 motherboards for my new build. This one seemed to have all the features I needed, in the form factor I wanted for the right price.
I have been using it for a few days and it’s been great so far. Boot times are still a little slow, but are improving each day. The VRM temperatures are good too. I am especially impressed by the I/O - while VGA is very outdated, it’s quite rare on a modern board and adds just an extra bit of compatibility.

THANK YOU. Finally some info on the vrm on this specific board. very sketchy that msi advertises the VRM on msi pro b650m-p Wifi on their website but on on the non-wifi version. Now we know why.
yes they do have a habit of making information a bit harder to find if there is a down side or lower spec
Nice video, Btw all information you need is in the user manual included flash bios usb port etc. If you are not crazy rich this mother board has a lot of goodies and good enough for a gamer or home user. Ddr5 ram still crazy expensive tho..
I had just built an AM5 computer with this board as it seemed like good value for money and it's exactly that, happy that it has two m.2 ports, good selection of usb ports and so far so good with its bios options, running an 7900 no problem!

You are right about the nvme lock, really nice feature, especially when your small screwdriver is not magnetized... With that, nvme drive can be swapped easily. No more small screw falling in the bottom of the case when too lazy to lean it on the side...😉

If I wanted to use a ryzen 7 7800x3d or similar (8800x3d/9800x3d) would this card hold up? I don't think I should go beyond that in any case, unless I decide to use the PC for productivity but in theory as long as you stay within the 65w TDP there shouldn't be any problems right?

A decent budget board. Pity my expectations were ruined when my local PC store had what seemed like a fire sale on b650 carbon wifi for $268 AUD...(about 140 pound) now everything seems too expensive. though ended up picking up a second hand b650e Aorus master for 350aud as well and finally got a 7500f on the way from AliExpress black friday lol. Then just waiting on that pesky 7600G to drop

I could not see xmp support in the ram section of the motherboard's website, it only says amd expo support. Can I use xmp supported 2x16 6000mhz ram at full performance? Or should I look for ram with AMD Expo support? I do not want to choose AMD Expo because there is a price difference.
offically AMD only supports EXPO settings, but can work with XMP 3.0 but is not guaranteed or supported. Choose a kit of RAM that is either EXPO or EXPO and XMP certified.the Lexar Ares we reviewed and the Crucial Pro both do both

Pro RS WiFi has same VRMs as b650m HDV.
Msi has better ones with 12 phases at 75A apparently. Plus a better form factor ATX, so all pcie ports are actually usable however it misses Pcie gen 5 and has 1 less m.2 port compared to pro rs ..
Therefore, I'd love your expert advice!

Edit: failed to mention this would be for a 7600(maybe x?) build, and either board will be fine for it, but just asking in terms of overclocking it, or a future upgrade

Hi, I see that this motherboard does not have a heatsink for the m.2 SSD, is it really necessary to have it or is there no problem if I use it without the heatsink?. By the way, is it good for the 5 7600?
pcie gen 3 and some 4 drives don't really need it, but it can be added very easily if you are concerned. We have done videos on m.2 coolers you might what to consider looking at and yes it is great for the 7600
Do you prefer this one or the Asrock b650m pro rs for a build with a Ryzen 5 7500f and a 3060 ti?. Both motherboards are at same price on my region. Or which motherboard you think its the best apart of these 2 in this price range?

I made that mistake, waited ages on first turn on of new setup, MSI tomahawk - no boot. Took the whole computer to bits reassembled and booted right off. There should be an advisory in the manual.

@Clashy69 On first turn on of a new AM5 computer the various components take quite a long time to talk to each other and diagnose different parameters of the system and train the memory. I did not realise this and thought there was something wrong. At first I thought I had somehow bent pins in the AM5 socket but after inspection and rebuild the computer worked perfectly. Hope this helps.

The price is what’s worrying the most. I don't want to skimp on the motherboard, but if this one is capable and reliable I don't need more. I’m pairing it with a Ryzen 5 7600, RX 7800 XT and 32gb 6000mhz DDR5. Do you recommend going ahead with it? I was mainly worried about coil whine and boot times. Also, do you recommend getting the B650M-A variant? It's $30 more.

Do you think it could handle, lets say, a ryzen 7 9800X3D when gets released? The intended use is just gaming, rn works perfect with my ryzen 5 7600x that can reach 135W
no idea to be honest as the 9800x3d is a long way off but i suspect it will be fine

that will be fine, just make sure the case has ventilation for the GPU as it will hang low, the motherboard reviewed in todays video might be more suitable as the GPU slot is a bit higher

when I turn on the computer with EXPO activated, the cpu led is red and the DRAM led is orange for 20 to 30 sec ,
after windows starts without problem, is this normal behavior? (bios 7E27v14)

Yes that is normal, I did a video recently to speed up boot times. Basically turn on context restore and power down enable and you should have faster boot times

I was about to buy this then came across msi pro b650s wifi which costs the same but is much better in all aspects (although that one is atx)

I bought R9 7900X and i will try to use that monster on this board. Did you try strong Ryzen on this board?. It says this cpu compatible and i was not able to find proper information about power stages of this board. I know it is not super strong about power side. To be honest i don't want to fry this board :D

@@mikesunboxing Thanks, I wont use it on 100 percent load, mostly it will work arround 60 percent load. I do not do static oc too. Usually i use curve optimizer at minus 30 40 and only adding 200 mhz from pbo settings. Is this can cause a problem too? case is way too big for this mobo and i have 5 140mm fans 2 of them exhaust, 3 12 mm fans infront of the case, even graphic card temp drops down to 38 on idle .so i think i can keep it cool enough.
so im considering buying this motherboard or the asus prime a620m-k but i dont know if any of them comes with bluetooth.

Hello, it's me again, I read that this motherboard has a long boot time, could you confirm if it is true? If so, is it a problem with am5 or the motherboard?

This is important to me, the large board reviews point out the budget vrms and then test with higher power cpus. But if I want to go with a 7800x3d like a lot of gamers I just want to know the cheapest boards I can use that has adequate vrms to not throttle a 7800x3d which has quite low power requirements. Sure I won’t be able to upgrade the cpu but I’ve never upgraded a cpu without changing the board.

Lol im watching this video 2nd time to talk about those very delicate pins on the tray. I got this board today and put ryzen 5 7600 (also brand new not used one) to the tray, metal frame was rock hard tougher than a brick, i was affraid of snapping cpu to the half but i did put it in as they suggested in the videos and i was doing that much more nicer than them. Thermal paste then amd's wraith cooler, guess what happend? smiles i hit the button it is turning on fans are spinning but no video nothing but constant cpu and ram debug lights, they are always on and nothing else happens. Not sure what happend but probably that tray killed itself. If it didn^t fry the cpu of course.. But i think its mobo cuz those lights are always on and doesn't give a shit if cpu is there or ram. So guys be very careful with this motherboard...

Almost no heatsinks on this board.. Won't there be issues even without everclocking? IUt shouldn't even handle 7600x..
there is a big heatsink on the primary VRM area

Got this in a new build with R5 7600 cpu, 4070 gpu, 2x vegeance 5200mhz ddr5 ram, cv650w psu. When I turn on the PC the CPU and the DRAM leds turn on for some reason. I cant even get to the bios.
First I tried removing both rams and powered it up, but the leds werestill there, both for CPU and DRAM. Also tried different slots, 1 stick, 2 sticks, same result.
Tried removing the CMOS battery, leaving it out for around 5-10 minutes, put it back in, got the same result. Any ideas?

It doesnt seem like it. Also, for some reason, after pressing the power button, it takes around 2 seconds for the PC to give some response, like turning on the fans and RGBs, which I thought was weird.
Could the PSU be causing all of this? It does turn on the fans and the GPU led isnt on, so it seems like that is fine.

Dog water motherboard, theirs a reason its cheap. I bought also the M-a wifi thinking i wouldn't have any problems with it, nope. Kept crashing, I used other motherboards no problems. The B650s were nothing but headaches.
