We recorded clips from 17 different video game devices to make this video. It was alot of work but it was definitely worth it.
Note: Characters whose Final Smashes have no origin (like Ridley, Sheik, Ike, Jiggylpuff etc.) or whose Final Smashes haven't been revealed yet (like Robin, Luigi, Yoshi etc.) were left out.

Actually, Kirby's final smash was based on the last fight against Magolor since you can clearly see the sword expand when he charges up the last slice, which, in fact, was used in the said fight.
Pretty sure Giga Bowser is a Melee original. He really doesn't have anything to do with the Yoshi's Story version other than they're both big.

Huh, I though Bowser's Final Smash was based of the final battle in Galaxy 2, where he grows gigantic and punches the little meteors you can stand on when you are in the black hole phase. I mean, other than his Giga Bowser appearance.
Well Sakurai directly referenced Yoshi's Island when it was shown
Odd, I actually went to check the Mario Galaxy footage, turns out Bowser uses that same punch in both phases of the final battle, minus being in his Giga Bowser form of course. I guess it's a reference to both? But I also think it's a bit far fetched to compare it to Yoshi's Island when the similarity to the SMG2 move is uncanny.

Its probably more of the idea of a giant bowser, since Yoshi's Island is the first game Bowser got supersized
