- Arnos Vale Cemetery, in Arnos Vale, Bristol, England, was established in 1837. Its first burial was in 1839. The cemetery followed a joint-stock model, funded by shareholders. It was laid out as an Arcadian landscape with buildings by Charles Underwood.

I love listening to your relaxing voice & looking at all the wonderful headstones. The animal on the headstone that you thought may be a dog or a horse was definitely a lamb, signifying The Lamb of God or sometimes a lamb signifies the burial of a child.
It looked to big to be a lamb. I think it was definitely a horse or dog
You would think all those tree roots are causing a lot of damage to the vaults below ground. Lovely place to see. Nicely done GV! 😊👍

This was a very peaceful and soothing walk through the cemetery. I think all the foliage growing over the gravestones really adds something to them. Some of those gravestones are real works of art. Thank you.
This was a super interesting explore Grave, wow, seeing that furnace was mind blowing, incredible. Incredible also to see the equipment that transported the coffins, that bier, that was cool. Some really beautiful footage. Big thumbs up.

That is a beautiful Cemetery, Mausoleum and Crematoria, I am glad they are fixing it up for display! The furnace, or retort as they are called today, is very well preserved! I wouldn't be surprised if it still worked after a little TLC! To think of all the loved ones that passed through it on their way to their final resting place, and no one seemed to have messed with it? Amazing!
Many of those old crypt boxes and plaques are broken, and look like they had been replaced, and they stored the old ones, rather than throw them away.
As far as the urns go, they were just in storage until needed as well. After all, they needed to place the ashes somewhere after the cremations.
I would love to explore that entire site! It has so much history and the stories would be never ending!

I really liked this, its really fascinating reading all the gravestones and all the different names and beautiful headstones, i sometimes visit chingford cemetery London and walk around the Victorian section.

I think the Headstone is a lamb “Lamb of God”. It is a beautiful graveyard. It’s something to see the ones on the side of the hill. Sad to see the stacks of cremated remains just left like that. 😢

And it needs cut and cleaned up it's really over grown the dead deserve respect
Hi Philip I think the cemetery was being cleared up in places so maybe they have more to do. It is 45 acres in size
It's also a nature reserve and a very important wildlife site. They have many tours including bats, wild flowers and birds. Obviously, the habitats need to be protected, hence allowing the cemetery to revert to nature to a certain extent.
May our beloved dead by God's loving grace , REST IN PEACE.
