  • I decided that it was time to take the leap! I've always used spinning rods/reels but I wanted to upgrade my arsenal and try out a baitcasting rod and reel! I've never used a baitcaster before so this was definitely an interesting experience!
    Thank you all for showing so much support! We're almost at 1,000 subscribers! Craziness! Special video coming out at 1k! Lets keep this rolling!
    Setup:
    ►Rod: Abu Garcia Vendetta
    www.cabelas.com...
    ►Reel: Shimano Casitas 151hg 7:2:1 gear ratio
    www.cabelas.com...
    ►Line: Berkley Trilene XL 12 lb
    Cut me some slack! I am extremely new to this kind of reel haha. I'm sure there are still many more birds nests to come. Tight lines yall.

    Dude, you caught fish and fun doing it. Don't give a second thought to what all these little girls on here are saying. I thought you did awesome for your first time throwing a baitcaster. Even the pros backlash their rigs. When I was learning I went ahead and bought two spools of the cheapest line I could find because I knew I was going to backlash it so bad. Bro, keep fishing and have fun. That's the whole point!

    It's important to set up the reel before casting with it if you want to avoid those rat's nests. A sidearm cast is also preferable with this type of setup. It's been 2 years so I'm confident that by now you're good.

    I don't know why everyone is complaining so much, yes I know the line wasn't through the line guide but I think that using mono was a good idea because braid is hard to get out of a backlash and it's pricy, and baitcasters aren't exactly that easy to use when you first get them.

    • @ciannacalara3179
      @ciannacalara3179 6 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      14fishing actually monofilament line is easier to start out with because if you get a backlash/Birds Nest then it’s way easier to get it out. With braided line it’s much more challenging for someone who just got their first baitcaster. Also, he probably didn’t know to start out with a heavy lure. He probably just wanted to start with a simple frog lure.

Dude i learned how to use a bait caster with that and by the time i bought an Abu Garcia reel i couldn`t get a bird nest even if i wanted to.
