    Good video. Most average gym lifters don't understand how tight a wrap should be and how to do it correctly.

    3:58 - Brilliant for compression! and as for the bench and the thumb loop 0:53, yes, I was doing it wrong and spraining my thumb to get it out of the loop :(

    Great video! Never actually considered using the belt loop wrap for forearm compression. That could help especially if you have tennis or golfers elbow, or any sort of inflammation of those tendons. Not for competition but to assist with training.

    doesnt it cut off the circulation to your hand doing it so tight? my hands go blue if i did them that tight.....

    • @kiti3062
      @kiti3062 4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      it does so you dont wrap it for all of the training session but just for set

    • @gavatron1980
      @gavatron1980 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@kiti3062 i actually found using this method doesnt cut off the circulation as much as the way i was doing it. it brings the wraps further up your hand so its not compressing the veins and tendons in your wrist as much. pretty cool

    I remember a few years ago when wrist wraps became a trend.. I saw people of all ages with their amazon wraps walking around the gym with them on continuously and way too high on their forearms 😂

      @Dr_Footbrake 4 ปีที่แล้ว +10

      You still occasionally see dudes doing an hour workout with them on. Like, if you’re doing it right you should last 2-3min max before your hands go purple and you gotta take em off lol

      wrap so you can have better grip

      Same. Mind blown.

    • @AFatWhiteShark
      @AFatWhiteShark 4 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      It helps a lot with your grip, since you're compressing the muscle/tendons. You wanna a example ?! Leave one hand completely relaxed, now grab on your wrist with your other hand and squeeze/compress, your fingers will roll up and kinda close.
      Same principal with the wraps, your hands will maintain that form all the time, with less effort.

    I've done a few USAPL meets in the last couple years...its meet approved to use wrist straps for the deadlift? Or is it for training purposes only?

  • @fenianlewis
    @fenianlewis 4 ปีที่แล้ว

    Reckon belt strap loops for oly lifts is probs the way forward because you need more mobility in the wrist vs benching.

    Honest question. What is the benefit of wrapping for a deadlift?

    • @unclemoneymoneyuncle8702
      @unclemoneymoneyuncle8702 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      I don't believe there is any outside of if you're nursing an injury and need the added compression/immobilization... About a month back I hurt my left wrist and would get some pretty bad pain on my deadlifts, bent over rows, etc. I bought a pair of wrist wraps and have only been using the left one and by using it on things like deadlift it greatly lessens the pain I was feeling in my wrist compared to not using it. If I hadn't of injured my wrist and wasn't experiencing continued pain then I wouldn't be using a wrist wrap for such.
