Thank You!! Oh god, I've seen this musical twice and the second time my friend and I were seriously peeing ourselves when he burst into the Jeuish dancing and when the star of david came down :D
@juls178kgal Actually, no. Right after, the song is different from Hava Nagila. The dance and music were taken right from Fiddler on the Roof. It does, however, go into Hava Nagila once they finish the bottle dance.
@TRWolf if you go to the official uk tour website you can listen to eric singing a demo version of the song...there are refferences to jedward and the osbournes
@samonsell actually hava nagila is a hebrew song jewish ppl play/sing/dance to @ parties. fiddler on the roof uses that song that song during the wedding scene, cuz its tradition... like the first song...(no pun intended)
I doubt it did. It was a loud audience because of all the Claymates. Even Hannah Waddingham said that she could have done things and nobody would have noticed because Clay was the center of attention and stealing the spotlight.
OMGOMGOMG someone PLEASE tell me...what song is played after the piano piece? XD with the folkdancing. If it is indeed an individual piece on it's own. :C I've been looking since I went to see this! (SO GOOD btw! Go see it if you ever get the chance!)
They actually kept this for the West End transfer. Technically they would just reword it saying put on a Broadway style musical. Some of the critics were complaining about the Jewish thing also because its more of an american theater thing than a british one.
I think it's something to do with a lot of big broadway shows having Jews in big places in the show, both as actors and behind the scenes. I'm not sure. I'm british. We just have people from Britians Got Talent and Andrew Lloyd Webber casting shows in our musicals.
It seems to me that a lot of the big British musical producers have been Scottish. So I'm thinking they could've used the word "Scots" and done a Scottish dance for this number instead, lol.
Monty Python's humor is British all the way. If it can find an American audience, I'm sure the Brits are capable of handling American cultural references.
I'm a nice Jewish boy from New Jersey and I'm offended by people who are offended by ANYTHING! it's true...you gotta have the Jews if you want to succeed! if you're offended...just don't watch it!
If I ever get to act on Broadway, or anywhere else, I swear I WILL PLAY AS ROBIN XD
lol, poor Arthur and Patsy! They get to watch this number from the best seats in the house, but they have to keep straight faces for the whole thing!
David hyde pierce is so funny and awesome :D
Thank You!!
Oh god, I've seen this musical twice and the second time my friend and I were seriously peeing ourselves when he burst into the Jeuish dancing and when the star of david came down :D
Broadway productions are well-known for having many Jewish actors, dancers, singers, writers, producers, etc.
You must put on a musical!
Yes! *dances*
But NOT an Andrew Lloyd-Webber
*screams*
love that part!!
yes, all original broadway cast members are in this performance
Best show ever :)

@megiko99 It's from Fiddler on the Roof. Check out To Life or The Bottle Dance from the wedding scene.
@TRWolf if you go to the official uk tour website you can listen to eric singing a demo version of the song...there are refferences to jedward and the osbournes
It's from Barbra Streisand's first movie Funny Girl. It's from the speech that happens right before the song "People".
My roommate is a theater major... And she's Jewish. She was so excited when she first heard this.
the song is,"people", from the musical funny people.
@Danscottonair Yep! David Hyde Pierce is a pianist from a very young age.
This is probably my favorite song in the entire show. So hilarious!!
@crazyking1325 I believe it was "You wont succeed in Showbiz"
Also, Hollywood.
@TRWolf they change it to 'you wont succeed in showbiz'
Oh, so THAT'S the show they were alluding to in the Producers! I mean, with "Funny Boy".
@Jazztbone22 No, it's David Hyde Pierce, the other Crane-brother :D
best. number. ever.
Soooo slick!
Apparently this has been re-written for the 2010 U.K tour and is now known as THE STAR SONG.
@samonsell
actually hava nagila is a hebrew song jewish ppl play/sing/dance to @ parties. fiddler on the roof uses that song that song during the wedding scene, cuz its tradition... like the first song...(no pun intended)
It's my fifth viewing and I just noticed the menorah on the piano instead of the usual candelabra. I was too distracted by the bottle dance.
I think my nose just grew an inch...
That is an extremely loud audience, I hope the new touring cast can compare...
I doubt it did. It was a loud audience because of all the Claymates.
Even Hannah Waddingham said that she could have done things and nobody would have noticed because Clay was the center of attention and stealing the spotlight.
@TRWolf They change it to 'if you don't have any stars' and talk about all of the reality tv shows that they have in Britain. It's really hilarious.
@samonsell ur right, sry. i wuz talking about hava negila.
@megiko99
its called hava negila
2:30 - 2:36 were they spoofing anything with that critic? cuz the audience seemed to laugh very loudly when he came on
Gabby Magana I'm a little late in answering this question lol but they are parodying the film critic Gene Shalit
I LOVE David Hyde Pierce!
OMGOMGOMG
someone PLEASE tell me...what song is played after the piano piece? XD
with the folkdancing. If it is indeed an individual piece on it's own. :C
I've been looking since I went to see this!

"But...Not an Andrew Lloyd-Webber"
It's niles! :D
@Jazztbone22 no...its the other one
They actually kept this for the West End transfer. Technically they would just reword it saying put on a Broadway style musical. Some of the critics were complaining about the Jewish thing also because its more of an american theater thing than a british one.
Man this goes way over the top at 4:00 and again at 5:23
XD that is awesome!
NILES! Is that you?!!!!
Is there a link to the clay aiken version?
why
When they start doing that knee/floor dance is that from another play? it got a huge reaction when i saw as it does in this video
It could be from Fiddler on the Roof.
You're absolutely right, but they're talking about theatre here, not film.
Curb yer enthusiasm, David?

@megiko99 o sumone alredy told u... srry
Monty Python's humor is British all the way. If it can find an American audience, I'm sure the Brits are capable of handling American cultural references.
@megiko99 Hava Nagila (Lets Rejoice)
My parents thinks this song is racist towrds the Jews, are there any Jews out there that are offended by this song?
My Jewish friends love this.
I'm a nice Jewish boy from New Jersey and I'm offended by people who are offended by ANYTHING! it's true...you gotta have the Jews if you want to succeed! if you're offended...just don't watch it!
@@maestromuffin1 lol whats that supposed to mean?
@@talia5507 it's a Jewish thing! Lol
I swear... I'm missing the "Jews" joke, or are they just trying to rhyme??
LiebeAlle There have been so many famous Jewish composers & writers. Hammerstein, Styne, Sondheim, Berlin, Kern, Strouse to name a few.
Funny Girl* :D
