The choice beetween first and third person perspective would probably had been the best option to be offered. Since I've never played other Dragon Quest games before I have no prejudices.

The censorship, not warranted or wanted, probably won't be a dealbreaker for fans. I imagine it will be a SH2 Remake scenario. People still came out and bought the game because it was generally faithful to the original and added on top of it because the devs consulted with the creators.
It was the western world that pushed them do it sadly the whiners in the USA most likely seem to influence a lot of censorship. You can probably find the interview somewhere from the devs and creative team talking about it
yep its prequel, if you follow time line which series finally has now since 11 dropped, 11 is the top of time line basically creating different paths, the choices you make staying or going back into past splits the time lines, dragon quest 3 is part of series of games if hero left. If you wanted play these games in actual order it would be 3, 1, 2, 3 is prequel to these sets of games. Similar 4, 5, 6, 6 is prequel, you want to play it as 6, 4, 5. One Hero leaves is missing/dragon time line, one he remains is Heavenly time line 7, 8, 9 have own paths don't really connect to other games. 10 not sure never played it since it didn't leave Japan
Just putting this out there cause apparently a lot of people saying censorship haven’t played the majority of DQ games. The female warrior re-design is not new, past mainline entries and other spin-offs that feature the female warrior added a crop top/shorts under the armor (it’s black so it looks less awkward but still), the design isn’t new. DQ8 pops into mind. Also the swapping out of crosses for tridents has been a thing since literally DQ4. Literally just finished replaying the 4-6 trilogy. So can confirm that design has been around for a long time.

Rating boards have changed a lot since then. I’m aware of the articles with the game devs saying they aren’t a fan of the censorship. Personally i think the examples they gave, while not false arguments, i believe shift the focus onto a western lens which i don’t think is completely accurate. The CEROS rating board in Japan has become a larger issue for many games when it comes to censorship. The female warrior redesign in particular has been cited in articles as the root cause for that redesign in particular.

For the record the cross wasn't censored for religious reason but for a retcon that happened games ago. Where the symbol of the church in Dragon Quest 7 was a trident because Gods weapon was a trident.
It's not the censorship I'm bothered about, it's the first-person perspective. It makes combat boring and the characters bland. It's a beautiful-looking game, but I'm all about that gameplay. I do apologize to die-hard fans, but 8 and 11 are the styles I like.
If you can take 1 thing from some other DQ fans, please give DQ 5 a try, it’s really good and if you can get past its style you’ll find out it has a really great story. But if it’s not for you, then that’s fine. You’re just missing out on what’s probably the other best DQ in the series.

Bruh, nothing in the game itself was actually censored😂. Only the drawing Akira toriyama himself made was censored to some degree years ago by tiriyama himself. Ibis is the only mild censorship in the came seeing as isis is a terrorist group. At this point, the only real major change would be the script was has always been a little messed up since the beginning. As for type one or two...thats in reference to dragon quest 9 as in the video we do see customization of party members. So it stands to reason we will also see it with the main char. Honest, anyone screaming "err ma gawd they censored dq3 remake" probably hasn't done the research or knows but wants the game to fail.
Nothing about the censorship compromises the fundamental vision of the game. Also, the warrior flat out just looks better with the leather undergarments.

post-release prequels aren't generally meant to be taken in before the source material. Someone getting into Star Wars shouldn't start with episode 1 it ruins the entire Luke I am your father schtick, even though its a prequel.

Nothing to do with "American censorship" The trident has become the symbol for DQ's made up religion and has been this way for 20 years now. Its even been used retroactively for previous remakes of earlier titles. It never made sense for the using of the cross too because the in game , made up religion worships a goddess a female god. She has nothing to do with Christianity or any other real world religion. You're probably just now having this brought to your attention due to fake internet outrage or culture war BS, but I promise you the series has been using this for 20 years and it has nothing to do with modern culture wars, woke or censorship.
