Great video I am constantly impressed with your very detailed reviews. I just bought this over the Lexus es350 I absolutely love it smooth ride, flawless powertrain, 0 to 60 in 5.1 according to Car and Driver. love that the power is constantly 30 percent to the rear with Awd and currently enjoying 30 miles to the gallon. Best vehicle I ever owned to date, and I have had many from SUVs to sports cars and this with the platinum trim strikes the perfect balance of performance and ride quality with the option to adjust them. One other thing no one mentions is the lack of lag or turbo lag, power is instant wither you're at low speeds to high speeds which is a rare thing with everything going to turbos. What an outstanding car Toyota has made here unbelievable!
I like that it provides the efficiency of a hybrid sedan but is easy to get in and out of like a small crossover. Price is a bit high but not bad. It undercuts the ES00H by more than a few thousand which seems like a good spot for it. We do quite a few road trips and this looks like it would fit that role very well!
Can you turn off the driver attention warnings? If so does it affect some of the safety feature and do you have to turn it off every time you turn the car on?
Safety features can be turned off, they can be visual warnings or fully armed. If you shut off that safety feature, it will not work. If you make an audible or visual, it will Work.
I believe I saw an image with the models. One of them was a hatchback. Kinda looks like a larger Mazda 3. Not sure if it will be available in the states though.
It's like the "sedan" version of the Venza, straddling that line between Toyota and Lexus categories. I'm a little concerned about the backseat room though. The height seems low.
The headroom is a tad low if you call it a crossover, but IMO more than most midsize sedans. The legroom more than makes up for shortcomings there though. I doubt anyone over 6' would have been terribly comfortable in the rear of my C300 either, and the leg room on that was just terrible with a 6' tall driver.
This is probably the most hideous car revealed for 2023... Maybe ever. The Aztek had a tent and fridge. Juke at least sold well. This thing is just gross. It looks like it's wearing a big black diaper on the back.
Lauren, wonderful review. The Max powertrain is very enticing. But, beyond that I have a hard time liking this car. First, it seems way too big. It's like a yacht. Parking it anywhere would be a real challenge. Second, that front "grill" is not what I expect on a premium car. And third, at this price point, the interior design looks like any Toyota which surprises me if this is a flagship luxury model. For the asking price, I would regret spending my money for this. I might as well buy a Lexus. Sigh!! Have a wonderful Thanksgiving holiday weekend.
I look at it kind of the same but I will add some contrast. BTW the limited would be my sweet spot. It is $4k less than a base ES300h. It has very good ease of entry and exit for my generation :-). The features set is very good for a Toyota product and comparable to that ES. The fuel economy is great, the comfort and ride for road trips looks to be outstanding. It is a bit big but at about 4.5" longer than my 2017 Optima it sure seems manageable. Toyota does weird front ends for sure we agree there. I am not sure what fills this role better at ~$45k. A loaded Sorento is about that much and has more space for cargo but if that is not a concern what else? The germens at this price are much smaller.
Technically, the Century is Toyota's flagship luxury model, but that's Japan only. For parking, I found it to be just as maneuverable as any other midsize, and the platinum trim has 360 view AND self-parking for both parallel and back-in perpendicular parking. As for the Lexus comparison and value...I get where you're coming from. I would agree, except for the fact that Lexus is terribly overpriced in Canada. The comparable sedan in Lexus' lineup is the ES300h, which, when specced out to the max to compare with the crown platinum, is more expensive, (far) less powerful, and as far as I can tell (I haven't driven it) less featured. Not to mention it looks pretty boring, and not even in a stately way. All that said, the value aspect could just be a matter of the current state of vehicle inventory. Finding a car you can buy off the lot these days is tough, so mfgs have little incentive to... incentivize
Lauren is that spare tire a real spare tire and not one of those donut space saver spares? I like the two tone, but would probably opt for the cheaper trim. You know what a Buffalo winter does to car.
Big NO for me…for a “Platinum” model this car looks like the automotive equivalent of a shiny work boot. Too muscular looking and not streamline. What’s medium drive mode?
I'm not sure this is the best vehicle for the price tag. There are cheaper sedans and cheaper crossovers. As far as luxury vehicles, the price of the Limited and Platinum are to close to Lexus. The new Crown models are nice cars, and I definitely want one, but I think Toyota went a little overboard with the MSRP. I know they said they were targeting a younger, more affluent generation than the Avalon, which may be the reason for that. Although I may not be as affluent as their target market, I think a Lexus ES350 is a better option for the price range.
I just got one ... I am disappointed , the air pressure coming through the window when it goes more than 50 miles , my left ears no longer hold.. the dealers is ignoring me.
Is this a luxury car or a sports car? The styling screams sport crossover. But the Crown traditionally was an ultra luxury sedan. Then again, 90% of luxury cars today aren’t luxury cars. They’re sports sedans with leather seats.
The black two tone is optional and costs extra. It's not appealing at all, looks like a car that was wrecked and the owner couldn't afford paint so just bolted on the black body parts.
I like the infotainment screen layout, better integration than NX / RX. In my humble opinion the interior design of this TOYOTA looks more luxurious than a Lexus
This "Thing" is DOA!!......Overpriced, skimped-out to the max with eg., skinny tires, mediocre interior and seats, etc, etc. Check the competition before you "Part-Ways" with your money!!!
I like YOUR comments , You are giving ME something to think about as this ( the premier ) is what I’ve been considering ! Also I saw on an earlier review it was said that the glass roof does NOT open ..... these recent reviews let us know it has a glass roof but none ( at least the ones I’ve watched ) aren’t mentioning if it’s stationary or not ... At this price point the option should definitely be available... Bog mistake ! Also ( to ME the dash area is rather boring )
@@RagShop1 uglier than a Camry that I agree. But performance, headroom, smooth powertrain all those the crown lags The fastest crown is as fast as a v6 Camry. And the v6 is insanely smooth. @@naveenthemachine The 340 HP Hybrid MAX engine outguns the Camry's 301 HP V6 by 39 HP and the Crown shouldn't be much heavier than a Camry V6. Yeaaa.. no. $50k for a “nice” Toyota? You can get a Mercedes, Audi, or BMW for that price. Don’t like European cars? Get a Lexus.. you’ll get a much nicer Lexus for that same price.
What a clownish looking car. I totally don't understand why Toyota would introduce this thing. That investment would have been better spent on a all electric new vehicle than this hodge-podge.
Everybody is going to want one!

I like that it is built in Japan.
So the top of the line is a hybrid max with a platinum trim or is it a hybrid max come with the platinum trim? How is it sold?
Great video 👍
Thanks 👍
What a great idea for a new sedan. Good job Toyota. Thank you for another great video. 😊
Only seeing XLE & Limited coming in my area. I would love to know when to expect the Platinum.
I'm only seeing the platinum. There is a platinum right now in Spokane Washington if you want it.

After comparing other cars, you just may have changed my mind about this!!
🇺🇸 I like the two tone. Athletic. I can see myself owing one. I like the sport crown.
I like it! Finally, something that doesn’t look like everything else on the road. I just wish it was a hatchback.
Its kinds of a hatch, coupe and CUV. Check it out in person

Slight correction to your engine specs….Platinum has 340 hp and 30 mpg. XLE and Limited have 236 hp and 41 mpg.
For the shifter...
P R N D ... M
M is for Simulated MANUAL shifting.
It does not stand for MEDIUM.
YuK! Thumbs up for this review though. The Crown has been in Japan for decades and used to be powered by a small displacement V12.
Thanks Bob

Do you recommend crown hybrid over Lexus ES 300h? Now, they are closely priced.
Makes me think why she chose the con to be the lack of an outlet for a radar detector.......
Most sedans are too low, this looks rad.

Toyota wanted to replace Avalon, but Crown is much smaller. They should have made it much bigger like Lexus LS.
That’s the Mirai but even the LS is not very practical inside.

Id probably save the cash and get a Camry w the v6
True
This is more modern than Lexus and definitely Camry
Saw it at the Chicago Auto Show last week - nice looking but was not impressed with the interior at all. Back seat area is cheap looking.

Well the ES is smaller and the RX comes in at 65k similarly equipped- so this really does slot right in the gap between those two.
