Thanks! It is a relatively smooth install. We did our best to design it so the install wouldn't be intimidating. No major cutting required. Easy fitment and adjustability. Quality hardware. We really hope people enjoy this kit!
I think the only concern I have is the fuel lines! There is nothing stopping the lines from rubbing against the tube and with the vibration, eventually its gonna rub through, there is also the concern of rubbing through the powder coating. I know there are other options to prevent this, just like with what you guys did with the AC Line, but I would look into options as the manufacturer as there are some out there who probably wouldn't consider the additional protection. Weld on brackets that receive hose clamp clips similar to the factory ones holding the breather hoses onto the intake manifold? Either way, very nice kit! Definitely on my list of wants in the near future!
Thank you for the feedback! We appreciate it. Awesome to hear you had a great experience with the kit. Let us know if you have any questions about the WRX kit.
you guys are killing it! I just installed the Grimmspeed TMIC in my car a few weeks ago and its top-notch quality, so If down the road I switch to a front mount this would be it. Im pretty sure the majority of parts in my car are Grimmspeed now, at least by the looks of the sticker collection I have amassed lol. keep it up!
Great video hella freaking helpful thanks grimmspeed cant wait to get my hands on this kit.. are all pipes, clamps and coupler are included in the kit?
No bumper trimming required for install, less couplers, well thought out install path, great customer service, and manufactured locally in Minneapolis, Minnesota. Just some of the things off the top of my head.
Buyers beware at 5:51 he Removes part of the frame and does not re-install in this video. That’s something that should be advertised I’ve tried completing install with that bar and it took forever to get my bumper kinda on right now
There is inherent risk to modifying any aspect of the vehicle, such as changing suspension height or geometry, changing power output levels, and our FMIC is no different with the required removal of the factory bumper beam and the front frame horn support brace. Using our best judgement we felt that the removal of this brace will not have a large enough adverse effect on the vehicles structural rigidity in an accident to warrant not removing it in order to maintain compact and shortest packaging of the intercooler pipe routing. However we as GrimmSpeed have not performed any IIHS crash testing to verify this theory, have not seen any crumple zone data from Subaru and are not able to provide any real world data to back up our theory.
Looks straight forward and it screams quality. Can someone link me on who has it? Also @grimmspeed will you have an alternate pipe if someone is eventually going to opt in for the brz manifold conversion. Asking for a friend aka im friend
Thanks! Appreciate the positive feedback! Unfortunately, we don't currently have plans for alternate piping for BRZ manifold conversions. If it is something that we get a lot of demand for that might change though.
There shouldn't be any bumper cutting if the piping is installed/clocked correctly, the only trimming we had to do are a few very small spots on the undertray to accommodate the large core.
@@ardaturk8397 Ya, I checked my manual, etc., and the front mounted will void warranty because it changes IAT, etc. It doesn't void warranty just in itself, that I know of. I'm thinking of somehow increasing airflow through the engine bay.
Sorry for the late reply! The horn bracket and Hella horns will work with our FMIC, but it does require some modification. The Super tone horns are much larger, so it will hit the back of the FMIC core. You will have to find a way to mount it away from the core. Using the pre-attached horn brackets that comes on the Hella horns, you should be able to mount it up and away from the core. The Sharp tone is smaller, so all you really need to do is slightly bend the brotie back a bit to help the horn clear the core.
You do not need to officially tune for the GrimmSpeed Front Mount. Although you will get the most benefit and power gain when you do. We recommend having an EBCS installed when tuning to get the most out of your tune session.
Worm clamps, especially high quality ones are perfectly capable of sealing the connections when installed correctly. They also cost a lot less when compared to t-bolt style clamps which allows us to sell our Intercooler kit at a competitive price point. Although, we didn't make this choice to cut prices. We felt that quality worm clamps were the best option when it came to this application.
We haven't done testing with our bumper bar when it comes to other kits so we can't say one way or the other just yet. But it is very possible that it may work.
I do not know that off the top of my head since we didn't do any testing with the Cobb Flex Sensor. I am sure one of our customer service representatives would be able to help answer that question though. Send us an email at support@grimmspeed.com or give us a call at the shop. We be happy to troubleshoot with you to figure that out.

Do you guys know where to get replacement 12mm bolts for the splash guard? Was doing different install the other week and one of the bolts was trashed so I need to replace it.
Our intercoolers don't require a tune after install, but in order to get the most efficiency and power out of your specific setup it is in your best interests to get it pro tuned.
We do not make a FMIC kit specifically for the 2016 Subaru Forester. It may be possible to modify this kit and make it work but we have not tested this so i can not confirm that at the moment.
Not on our unit unfortunately . Running Meth, although a common thing to do, is pretty specialized and not something that a lot of people are going to do off the bat. It is possible to make your own custom setup, but no ports are featured on this unit from us. If you have questions about adding meth ports, please give us a call and we can suggest the best way to go about doing it.
Nice looking kit indeed! Installation looks straight forward and easy.

Average install times? I’m not mechanically inclined so I’d have to have a mechanic do it and trying to gauge how much I need extra?

What do you do with that brace your took off behind the wiping fluid reservoir
Does the black (as opposed to bare aluminum) coating perform worse because of the paint working as an insulator?
Our testing shows that the black coating does not degrade performance of the intercooler.
The real question is, do you feel the gain?
So when available to the public 🤔? Price?
These are currently available through our Dealer network. Check with your favorite GrimmSpeed dealer for pricing info!
The brace (by washer tank) that you guys removed does it go back in? Seems like part of the frame support.

Is there any cutting on a 16 wrx bumper for the bumper to fit and not hit the piping on the driver side

Does changing over to a front-mounted intercooler void the OEM warranty?
Yes, anything that’s not genuine oem subaru part void warranty whether it requires tune or not

You could if you want to, but we suggest running a bumper bar for structural and rigidity reasons.

Bummed to see you opted for worm clamps vs t bolt clamps
But very nice kit! Also looks like you could use that bumper beam for other kits as well
T-bolt clamps actually cause uneven pressure vs worm clamps. So I was glad they went with quality (breeze) worm clamps instead!

Anyone know if this voids warranty
Does this require a tune? Does it require it immediately or can you get by for a while with a Cobb OTS tune?
If switching from top mount to front mount, we suggest getting a tune right away.

Thanks for the love Joel! We think its fire too!
Looks good! Do you know if the Cobb Flex sensor will still be able to be installed? Since it uses one of the bolt locations for your cold side pipe.

Yes.
Is the bumper bar strong enough to be able to hook up a tow hitch to it?
The bumper bar is very strong, but that wouldn't be its intended use. We would recommend finding another tow point.
