My mom has one. Not sure it works or not but i hope it does. I really want to use this thing. I play with it sometimes. I just like old things. Probably because my mom and i watch old movies.
So cool! It’s becoming a rare piece, worth hanging on to.
2013 and never heard this but still know how to use one
Right on!
I just replaced both axles, upper and lower arms w/ball joints and a new knuckle…..it was hell, but it rides better now. Everything is new on the truck except the idler and the stabilizer piston….ride height has me questioning the placement of the lower arms now
Wow! Thats a chore!!! What’s going on with your ride height?
@ yeah it was pretty major, took two days due to original stuff being a little rusted. My ride height seems about an inch or so off. Before my tires didn’t rub when I turned, but now I get a little rub. I may take a look at the fasteners holding up the wheel well liner, but it’s as close as I had to the original ride height prior to the maintenance. Also I only got back to the height I am currently at because I ran both torsion bolts all the way in
@ yikes! Yeah, I’d take a second look at everything newly installed and see if something is off. They shouldn’t have to be threaded all the way in to maintain height.
@@GrubNGasyeah the good thing is, it’s literally one slat off on the lower arm, maybe on the torsion bar. The height is close to what it was prior to, but like you, I felt the bolt should not be ran all the way in
quit fooling around and lean the carb.
(missed the C in clean)
That’s exactly what it needs. Appreciate the comment, sir:) Happy 2025!
RIP to the wasp

I actually have a rotary phone that still works surprisingly
That is a cool piece of history!!!
Good advice, living in northern Michigan, it gets pretty cold. I keep our house at a cozy 65 degrees. We have forced air heat. I divert part of the heat vent towards the lines or seal up that room to retain heat.
Thanks friend! Appreciate the insight and wisdom from someone wayyyy further north than I am:)
Best tutorial I’ve seen on TH-cam sir kudos to you! Gotta ask why you didn’t knock off the rust and paint those parts my my ocd was driven crazy seeing that new shiny stuff beside that cancer lol.
Thanks for the view and the feedback! In retrospect, I should have cleaned and painted those parts…lesson learned (several folks have pointed that out). Appreciate the candid feedback:)
@ the love in your household radiates through your content keep creating it man. You’re shining a light in this world we don’t have a lot of
@@dmaxxd94 man, thank you so much for that feedback…all the credit and praise goes to Jesus…I’m a deeply flawed man, but God still blessed me with a wonderful wife and children, and I pray I never take them for granted…so grateful! May God bless you and yours, and thank you for the kind words of encouragement:)
Dat wasnt dirt....it was a greaseball.
🤣🤣🤣 Definitely!
Ahh music 🎵 to my ears that Detroit sound nothing like it in the whole world 🌍 I love them old Sing a Songs Arkansas ?? Hmmmm that’s where my Dad grew up and his people are from Chicken farmers & Cotton pickers & Game hunters & Sawmill people Morilton Atkins Russeville Conway Jerusalem Appleton Sandtown Griffen flat Doyle flat Little rock Fayetteville Springdale Dover Hector & some others all the old timers have passed on my Dad was 88 when he passed on back on 6/28/21 and my Uncle Larry was 76 back in 4/15/21 and Cousin Odell 4/5/21 he was 88 I am a retired truck driver on disability I am 59 I live up here in the Chicagoland area my Dad was a Truck driver he grew up down there getting whatever work he could working farms or Construction or Sawmill or Pickle Plant or helper on a Coke truck
Love the comment and facts and bits of history here! Thanks for adding this, and yup, this is an Arkansas truck. Really appreciate the quality of these old engines…thanks for sharing and for watching!
Nice view of the location. Thanks for the video.
You’re most welcome, friend! Thanks for watching and I’m glad this helped!!!
Change many starters long ago, put it on your legs and up on the knee, goes right in.
What did you get it for?
$4000.00
that diesel wont fit in that ford without massive modification....and if you do manage to fit it in there it wont stay cool because the frontal area of that ford is too small for the size radiator you will need.....and the ford cab on the chevy wont work and would look stupid because once again it dosnt have the frontal area for the radiator you need......if you try it you will just end up with a big fucking mess
All good points. Thanks for the input, and I’m taking this into consideration. Thanks for watching and for the comment!
Appreciate the "Thank you, Lord."
Amen! Jesus is my Savior and I’m grateful:) Happy New Year’s Eve, friend!
DON'T use deck screw in pocket holes. They are tapered and won't be strong and/or split the piece. You want a flat bottom head screws, preferably made for pocket holes.
Thanks for the tip…I’ve been told that was a mistake, so I’ll be sure not to use those in pocket holes again. Happy New Year’s Eve, friend!
Nice this is very helpful. How have these parts held up? I’m trying to decide what brand components to go for
Thanks, friend! So far I’ve only had to replace one upper control arm because one started squeaking. If I had it to do all over again, I’d get the kit that has greasable zerk fittings on the ball joints. Other than that, phenomenal kit!
No leave it in the GMC and restore it
I like that idea. Would love to make it a crew cab.
It's a 2stroke Detroit, the blower is necessary for the engine to run. I love that sound. Drive it like you stole it.
Thanks friend, appreciate the info and comment! Happy New Year!!!
Well done video, but watching you put dirty parts back made me cringe!!! A little Dawn dishwashing soap, and a powerwasher go a long way, but I'm a clean freak.
Thanks for watching and commenting, and yeah, I probably should’ve taken some time to clean them. I’ll keep that in mind next video:)
My father had a 73 GMC 25000 series that was converted from a single tandem tractor unit to a wrecker unit then the frame was stretched to accommodate a 20 foot dry van body when my father purchased it and used it for delivering bagged feed for Ralston Purina and bundled newspapers for the Washington Post. It had a 6V53 Detroit and a 5 speed trans with a 2 speed rear. I LIKED!!!! The SOUND of that SCREAMING DETROIT. The van body had a faded picture of an Eagle on it so I dubbed it The SCREAMING!!!! EAGLE.
What a cool story and truck!!! Do you know where it went??? That would be a cool revival! Merry Christmas!
@GrubNGas No,I don't know where it went. It was 1 HECK OF A TRUCK!!!!
Question? When you would add coolant in the reservoir tank would coolant immediately begin leaking without pressure testing ?
It usually leaked after getting it warmed up. If it sat cold for a while and the antifreeze level go low enough the leak would stop. Hope that helps!
Did you spill some. I scared myself saw alot leaking down
@ definitely scared me!
@@eduardoguzman918 I didnt spill any and yeah I know what you mean too. I have massive leak somewhere cause I can't get it pressurized from the tank. And it's not the tank being in have now bought some radiator dye and an inspection camera which is difficult to use
What about the air gap in the thimble? Won't that let un wanted air in?
I caulked around the pipe on the inside and again on the outside. It took an initial application and a second application later to get all the air leaks.
The boss will be cooked if it was in the nest of ants
I wish I could travel the future to fix that
It would be a bad day for sure!
My Dmax takes the orange stuff
Mine did too at some point…someone switched it before I bought it.
Wow that's awesome I've always loved old phones there so cool
Right on! Me too:)
Well that chat that is now the coil has been flopping around in the valley for months now but yet previous owner said yeah it’s got a new ipr
Whoa! Something doesn’t add up!
O-H-I-O Porter greetings 🇺🇸Once you got it move over to the driveway, things sure went pretty well. Working in the grass /dirt isn’t always that much fun. I had to do some of that recently with an old wrecker I’m trying to get home. Was that a 12 volt or 24 volt starter? I know those things are quite heavy! I bet 24 volt. That was a blessing that it started right up! I bet you were quite thrilled getting to drive it home. Someone mentioned that you have to drive it like you’re MAD! Well, that might be partially true, but I think most of it is just getting to hear that engine wind up & scream a bit for ya! That lets people know you’re coming! Hahaha! So you’re gonna do a swap of sorts. Cool. Should make that Ford run & sound wild! Blessings my friend. 🥰😎✌️
Hello friend!!! Thank you for watching and sending a comment! It’s a 24volt system, and yeah, it is HEAVY!!! It was a thrill to drive it home, no doubt:) It has such a cool sound…nothing quite like it. I’m still not sure what swap I want to do, but a Detroit powered Ford sure would be cool! Hope you have a Merry Christmas, a Happy New Year, and many Blessings for you and yours!!!
If bro slips in the nest he cooked
🤣🤣🤣 Yup!
When I was looking for a truck to buy and what engine to get I heard Bill Hewitt say something like .....most likely you will have to change every part on the '73 before you touch the engine. I was sold.
100% spot on! They last forever!
I have rotary phones at home that actually works I don’t have touch tone. Yeah I have a landline so much easier to use than cellphones there is no breaking up signals.
Right on! I miss the old phones…whenever I see one it brings back good memories.
Siding is aluminum and won't spark
Good point…I think this stuff is galvanized steel though.
it's been 2 years yet u didn't provide any form of information about where to buy this 50 cal pen. share with others yo don't be selfish and keep it for yourself
Good point…I have a card somewhere, but I have no idea what I did with it:(

Let me see if I can do that.
Intentaré que esto suceda
I'm working with 2009chevy duramax has water leak left front on motor right below P.S. Pump what can U tell me
Have you looked at the water pump? It’s connected by a pipe on the lower drivers side of the engine and there’s a seal there that can leak.
My Dad had an 84 Brigadier he bought brand new and hauled milk from the farmers to the dairy with it and later hauled gravel with it.
That is so cool! Do you still know where the truck is?
You are lucky the rack wasn't stuck
1000% true

Gotta learn to put it to the wood every gear and shift.
Hahahaha! Right on!
Those are unacceptable repairs for any manufacturer, isn't bad enough domestic vehicles rust to shit, their electronics just straight up fail... Do yourselves a favor and never buy from the "Big 3" US domestic companies. They are total garbage... Especially Stellantis! Run for your life!
We would rather own a fleet of Toyota FJ-62’s if we could afford more, lol!
Good OL shit GM electronics... they never fail to upset.
🤣🤣🤣
Leave It ALONE It is Great I Love It
Sounds like a plan! Thanks, friend!
i was hoping you were going to run it until it blows up ... what a disappointment
😳😳😳 But, I like it! lol!
Way to much work maybe 4 weeks later don't have the strength no more
I hear ya…yeah, it was a chore!
Any issues with the Vapor Canister you used after several years? I believe I need to replace my vapor canister on my 2004 5.3 Tahoe based on my research and just want to make sure the part you installed lasted, or would you recommend me going with an OEM or brand name like AC delco which are much more expensive?
It worked great up until I sold the vehicle. No issues that I could remember. It’s never a bad idea to go OEM though.
@@GrubNGas thank you!
@ you’re most welcome!
