  • In this mid-week snack, Taryl goes over a basic, yet common thing we see people do wrong. And that is put on a chainsaw chain. Even people who are supposed to know better sometimes make mistakes so Taryl's gonna show you what to do in order to CORRECTLY install the chain and also adjust the chain tension. So sit back and learn and don't forget to subscribe to the channel for all the latest videos. And as always... There's Your Dinner!!

I have watched many many of your videos and appreciate the attitude and approach used to teach your audience. We are never led to feel stupid whether we are a seasoned mechanic or new to small engine repairs. It makes it inviting to go to the next video. Also, great job on the filming ( added comments, spring sounds, arrows and circles to make things clear) and of course for the laughs along the way. You guys cook up a pretty good dinner!!! Thank you very much. Cheers

About ten years ago I found a Homelite 150 in the trash, it started on the second pull and ran great. I then looked at it and saw the chain was backwards, I still have it!

Could have used this a few years ago. Neighbor loaned me his saw. Being a good neighbor I bought a new chain....and installed it backwards. I'll never live that down.

My grandfather was a logger. Taught me a lot about chainsaws. The bar will build a burr around the edge. Use a file or bench grinder to smooth it. Burred bars get bound up while cutting.

The Screwdriver tip of My Scrench was designed to fit the bar Grove to clean it.

When I saw this video title I thought "I'm not going to learn anything but I'll watch it anyway." Then the part about putting the chain on with the cutting edges forward on top of the bar came up and I thought "Uh oh..." 🤣 I added a google calendar reminder for me to go check my chain orientation tomorrow. Too lazy to go out there and check it right now. Thanks again for taking the time to share the content you do. 👍

I sometimes struggle with the chain when it loops on itself. Trying to get the loop out is sometimes a pita.

My Dad played a joke on me several years ago before he died. He gave me his old chainsaw and put the chain on backwards. That thing didn't cut worth a darn and I still get a good laugh about it to this day every time I use it.

When adjusting the chain, it's best to have the saw setting on it's base, and pull up on the chain while you tighten the bar nuts. That keeps the bar pulled up. Another way is to pick up on the rear handle of the saw, leaving the tip of the bar on the bench.

Don't forget to flip the bar from time to time so it can wear evenly. 👍

A good groove cleaner can be easily made from an old hacksaw blade.
