Every time I see my mechanic, he always checks to see if there’s anything I need to fix without having to go through a state inspection to renew my registration. So, these inspections are just a money grab for the state and inspection stations. Therefore, these state auto inspections are a waste of time, just another tax on the working poor in NC.
You are 100% right. It's ridiculous all the way around. I've always suspected something fishy about the emission inspection requirement ever since the OBD II began.
the "check engine light" came out in 1996, it's been a great money maker for the dealerships and repair guys. many times it has nothing to do with safety or pollution. "air injection" is nothing more than diluting exhaust gas with fresh air to make it appear "cleaner".
States can still abolish emissions inspection even if the EPA doesn't approve it, they just won't get federal subsidies anymore. Some states don't need federal subsidies.
The shop owner just wants the money worried if the cars are safe what BS maybe he could check the drivers see if there safe

For real though

Nc strict inspection rules is why people wait to switch their plates over
Yep that's why you are seeing more and more NC residents registering their vehicles in SC.
Good, every year is excessive and expensive.
They always attack the poor

Let me move back to North Carolina honey. 😊
They will never end it. It’s all about money if you think
It’s safety it’s not. The repair shops make a killing
