I really appreciate the love he has for his profession. This humble, yet proud and impressive kind man. I wish the best of luck for him and his business!
This place is my go-to, I found it right after moving to Seattle and didn't know how truly significant it is. Great food, lovely service. So glad that it is still in business, it means so much to a lot of people.
A delicious break from the previous episodes on eater with those pompous, pretentious chefs. A chef with pure passion and uses simple ingredients to create this lovingly crafted food with generations of backing. Love this!!
Wow 5 generations! I love him saying "As long as I'm here, the doors are open." The foods look really delicious. Great video to start our Sunday morning! Chinese food will be our lunch menu haha Thanks, Eater! 😋👍
They make the BEST Egg Rolls IN THE WORLD!!! My wife and I have been dining here for over 20 years. One of my favorites in Seattle! Thanks Harry and crew!
My grandfather praised this place. He knew the owner and everything. Sadly he passed away about a year ago. After the funeral we all went and visited. Great food
To sustain a restaurant for this long and keep it consistent, you have to really enjoy your "work." The passion is still there for him! We thoroughly enjoyed this video!
This restaurant owner is such a lovely man no wonder mr bruce Lee ate there all the time abd his food is beautiful authentic Chinese food yummy ❤i love Chinese cuisine fantastic 😋
I eat there frequently. I found out about it while reading about Bruce Lee, and it made me curious. I also read an article about a former councilwoman who was the first Asian woman in the Seattle city council. Bruce worked at her restaurant, which was located near Broadway, not far from Swedish hospital. I have seen Bruce’s grave site at Lakeview Cemetery, which is just blocks from where I live. He’s one of my favorite actors and icons of all-time.
That's it, next time I'm down the I-5, I gotta stop by this joint, attracted as always by honest years-in-the-making 鑊氣 (wok hei), and a real possibility of mingling in the 台山話 (Hoisan/Toisan) dialect.
Back when this place was open 24 hours it was a favorite among us cab drivers. The last few times I have been here were very disappointing as everything seemed quite tasteless and rushed from day's when I would eat here 3-4 times a week.
I came here after helping a friend with her martial arts class for lunch today for the first time in the 12 years I moved here. I saw the owner wearing that same shirt. This is going to be my new secret spot for lunch. Maybe I have guts to order Bruce Lee favorite dish next time....
This place looks amazing. The owner actually cares about his food, you see that less and less these days. Simply amazing. He should move to Australia and open up a place in my area, I'd visit every other day xD
Tai Tung is one of the legendary restaurants in the ID. 2 of them have permanently closed now: Sea Garden and Phnom Penh Noodle House. It's sad but Tai Tung is the last remaining. Tai Tung is an absolute Chinese Restaurant icon in Seattle.
20 dislikes!!?? Really, WTF people!?? Owner is the B-O-S-S!!! Has the back of his employees, dude's full of passion and the food looks like a fuckin million dollars. I'll love to try it!!
Howzit Sheldon good to see you again, you must be very busy haven't seen a new vid. from you in a while. But it's all good, how was ur christmas and new year? Well great vid. and how was it to be sitting in my childhood action star? Aloha Sheldon from freezing cold Kansas ;)
All of his workers are long time employees, I wonder if he has a son or daughter to continue his legacy. It would be such a shame to have no one to carry on the tradition
Hold on just a second. How is the guy the third generation owner of a restaurant in the United States and yet he clearly has a Chinese accent? Is he just "doing the accent" for the video?! LOL
Andy B his grandfather came over first during the gold rush. Then his father and brother came over later. And he came over in his twenties. So that's why he still has an accent.
Tama Toa I did catch that eventually. That's pretty amazing that he's the third generation owner of an American business and that every generation of owners was born in China, although it appears that has come to an end since he was talking about a nephew and grandson getting into the business. Shouldn't he somehow have been required to have a child in China before he was allowed to come take over the restaurant? Kidding, of course. I want to go to that restaurant so bad. I love the fact that he's slept there so he could be sure it would be open during snow storms. I'd love to know when the last time they were closed for a whole day was. I also hope they're open late. I'd guess they are. It looks like an awesome place and the food looks pretty wonderful.
Andy B I once worked with an older Filipino man and I asked him where he came from in the Philippines because his accent was so strong. He said he wasn't born in the Philippines, he was born on the Big Island of Hawaii and lived in Hawaii his whole life lol. Could have sworn he was from the Philippines lol.
You can see the love and passion the owner has for his restaurant.
The owner was so happy it made me happy
hes so cute lol
Sheldon has a way with people.
The owner seems absolutely lovely.
Kara N
Until he kicks your butt with his chop suey. Heya chop chop!
The owner is a beautiful human being.
Green Rusty damn right
True but even he was not human he’s still awesome
I really appreciate the love he has for his profession. This humble, yet proud and impressive kind man. I wish the best of luck for him and his business!
This place is my go-to, I found it right after moving to Seattle and didn't know how truly significant it is. Great food, lovely service. So glad that it is still in business, it means so much to a lot of people.
The owner is the sweetest, happiest man I've ever seen and Sheldon is lovely as usual ❤️
A delicious break from the previous episodes on eater with those pompous, pretentious chefs. A chef with pure passion and uses simple ingredients to create this lovingly crafted food with generations of backing. Love this!!
This is easily the best series on Eater. Sheldon is a great host and the guests are always so interesting.
Harry is amazing!!! Every time I've gone to eat there ..he is there !!!!!!! He will be an international district icon in Seattle ....forever!!!
Wow 5 generations! I love him saying "As long as I'm here, the doors are open." The foods look really delicious. Great video to start our Sunday morning! Chinese food will be our lunch menu haha Thanks, Eater! 😋👍

the owner is an amazing person but we really have to thank Sheldon for treat him like he deserves
This series always delivers. So glad to see Sheldon...in Seattle. 👍
Very happy to see traditional Chinese food shared in a different country 😎 That is amazing!!!
Eat here while you can. Seattle's Chinatown restaurants are seeing increased pressure from rising taxes, labor costs, and a crazy real estate market.
Blame Amazon.
Joe Al ew usa sucks
I love the warmth that Sheldon exudes. Also, the owner is such a joy to watch!
When I visit Seattle I'm going here first to eat. Always support family owned small businesses this is what America is all about.
Bruce Lee (李小龙) the legend! Nice food and restaurant.... So glad they honoured Bruce Lee as well!
This is probably where Bruce took Linda after the White restaurant waiter didn't give them a seat in Dragon: A Bruce Lee Story lol
He's speaking in Hoisanese. So proud of it.
Ah fei nei gei nen ah
@@JJjj-ud6db Definitely Hoisan/Toisan. "阿 輝, 你 幾 年, 呀?" (Ah Fai, how many years?)
I've eaten there when I lived in Salem, Oregon. I wish they delivered to Toledo Ohio. I've been going to some of the Detroit places on your show
Jeff Ward Salem? Like where they burned women for thinking they were witches?
Nur La grande 1500 miles west. Salem Oregon is the capital of that state
The Salem Witch Trials took place in Massachusetts, 200 years before Oregon even became a state!
Nur La grande The Salem witch trials started in the late 1600s in Salem, Massachusetts.
Salem is a long way from Seattle.
My grandfather praised this place. He knew the owner and everything. Sadly he passed away about a year ago. After the funeral we all went and visited. Great food
What a historic and beautiful place where the late great master Bruce Lee dines. Dang i wanna try his favorite dish :)
I love this series. It warms my heart, opens my mind and makes me super hungry!
To sustain a restaurant for this long and keep it consistent, you have to really enjoy your "work." The passion is still there for him!

the restaurant owner and employees look so sweeeet, God bless them:)
This place is really amazing. My wife and I stayed in the International District where this restaurant was about 3 or 4 blocks from us. Great food!

Youve got a great show man, you seem so genuine and kind. Thank you for the videos. I wish you many subscribers!
The owner is like the jackie chan of the restaurant business won't ever quit

That guy is awesome. I am so hungry for Chinese food now! But the places around where I live are not very good quality.
Everything with oyster sauce will become excellent
YAY! You're back!
that looks exactly what my family would cook for the weekends!
Love everything about this vid!
Harry Chan seems like the chillest "Big Boss". No wonder Tai Tung is Bruce's favorite.
rarely seen some around a job for 40 years
must be a warm place w a great boss ✨ .
They don't have the same voice, but I love how the owner's dialect sounds like and reminds me of Jackie Chan.

All of his workers are long time employees, I wonder if he has a son or daughter to continue his legacy. It would be such a shame to have no one to carry on the tradition
