- What do the lovable Winnie the Pooh and the ferocious Tasmanian Devil have in common? Voice actor Jim Cummings! He’s brought the honey-obsessed bear (and sidekick Tigger) to life for the last 30 years. And that’s not to mention some 400 other credits, including the singing voice of Scar in “The Lion King,” and the slithering, slimy Kaa in “The Jungle Book 2.” We sat down with Jim to uncover the man behind the voice, and to learn which of his iconic characters he identifies with most closely (hint: it’s someone who wears a cape).

"Jim had purchased a dog and the animal urinated in the house. As a result, Stephanie says Jim “took the dog and placed it inside a metal bucket outside of the house on a day which it was over 100 degrees, then left it there for a long time,” adding, “The dog came close to dying.”
In response to the animal abuse allegations, Jim admitted to the incident, but says, “There was an incident where I put a ‘tub’ (not a metal bucket) over a dog to isolate it briefly as a form of discipline to its behavior at our vet’s suggestion, and unfortunately I forgot the dog was there for a while, but then of course I released it.”
Jim says he took the dog to the vet to get checked out and claims it was in fine health.
She also claims in another incident, Jim had “taken a broom and hit the puppy so hard that he shattered the puppy’s hip necessitating surgery.”"

Actually probably not. He is the third person to voice pooh. He took the mantle in 1988 so depending how old you are...

Before saying he has a big heart, what's up with these allegations? They went through a nasty divorce and child custody battle and according to the judge, Cummings and X put themselves ahead of the children. There is a lot we don't know here, so to say a "big heart" is in doubt at this time. We all know there are problems in Hollywood so to think these allegations are unfounded hasn't been paying attention. We will need more information from others to corroborate the allegations.

Awww , to see how happy that boy was when he was talking on the phone to Tigger , in his own happy world , melted my heart.
Jim also calls children's hospitals and talks to them as Winnie The Pooh and Tigger too. Also, he said that a mom told him that him talking to her daughter as Pooh made her smile for the first time in months.

They weren't always. Pooh was originally voiced by Sterling Holloway and Tigger was originally voiced by Paul Winchell

This guy's vocal range is amazing. I would not have guessed for a service that he voiced Pete and Winnie the Pooh, they sound like two completely different voices
The original Pooh was voiced by Sterling Holloway (1905--1992). Cummings is a near sound-alike to Holloway.
Also sterling voiced Kaa in the jungle book and Cummings did that role as well

My all-time favourite character is actually a good person in reality.
He was also Scar in "the lion king" in some parts and Rasputin singing in "Anastasia". I have no idea why he doesnt like to mention that he made some villains once, his voice can be very devilish.

Scar's singing voice was provided by Jim, however.
Hana Melinda a lot of Scar’s singing was blended with Jim Cunming’s because apparently Irons sounded like he had smoked 50 packs of Marlborough’s when singing at certain times

I'm a 22-year-old woman on the autism spectrum, and Jim was pretty much the voice of my childhood. Growing up, I watched a TON of Disney stuff and other cartoons, especially Disney. And of all things Disney, I think I watched more Winnie the Pooh than any other character. Just hearing Pooh's voice brings a huge smile to my face, and I guess Pooh's entire character helped me learn to be the kind of person I am today. Pooh more or less shaped my childhood in a rather innocent and kind-hearted way. Mr. Jim Cummings, PLEASE don't stop being your legendary self! The world needs more people like Jim these days!

He’s a gift to humanity.
He was in the very first Disney Channel show Dumbo's Flying Circus. He played Lionel the Lion. Bump in the Night was a great stop motion show that aired on ABC from 1994-1995 but was rerun until 2001. He played the lead character Mr. Bumpy. It was a great show. You can find it on TH-cam.

I'm so happy to see this. I've met Jim in person and was starstruck for the first time in my life. My favorite cartoon character (Darkwing Duck) was standing in front of me. It was amazing! He even did a few voices for me. Awesome guy and his wife was awesome as well.

@1:57 melted my heart again, brought back such happy memories from when I helped out in special ed and the best buddies program in high school for junior and senior year. I had a student/buddy I knew previous years who called me Ms.Tigger every time he saw me because for a school spirit day freshman year I had worn an orange tiger striped onesie. He even started calling my then boyfriend Mr. Tigger and it was honestly amazing how he remembered it for 4 years, he has the biggest hearts and is one of the kindest souls I’ve ever known. Working in special ed was the best part of my high school years/life.
I actually started crying cause when I heard his voices along with the shows/movies they reminded me of a simpler time when I was just a kid and watching them and utterly loving them thank you sm for those memories!!
How could anyone give this a thumbs down. Just hearing Pooh and Darkwing Duck again made me smile. Thanks Jim! Your work made me smile many, many, many times.

I met Jim at Fan Expo Boston 2017, and he is pretty cool! I remember how his first time voicing Pooh was in "The New Adventures of Winnie the Pooh" Saturday morning cartoon in 1988, and then beginning with the third season in 1990 Jim started voicing Tigger too!
I like how he just casually mentioned like half way through the video that he’s also the voice of Taz. Like????!?

This man is a legend! He has brought so much happiness into many children & adults lives. Just by simply being a characters voice. I had no idea he was the man behind all these voices. I only knew of the snake in jungle book & pooh bear.

Sterling Holloway was the first voice of Winnie the Pooh. He died in 1992 of a heart attack.
....and Paul Winchel was the first tigger voice.

Very upsetting how barely no one even knows Sterling was the first to voice Pooh Bear. He was also Kaa in The Jungle Book, one of my favorites. He died a year before I was born. :(
Sterling was also the original voice of Chesire Cat and the dumbo stork.

Jim Cummings is awesome. I happened to go to his Comic Con panel last year 2 days in a row and he was hilarious both times. If he ventured into comedy he could've easily been on a sketch show.

I grew up in Sacramento, California and his niece was our substitute teacher throughout elementary school!! SHE WAS AMAZING!! She did a ton of magic and had the coolest props and tricks, I've never seen them since her! This whole family brings magic and joy to life!

Jim IS Pooh and Tigger. I am close to 40 years old and the world of Pooh has been with me since first time I saw it. Thats one actor I would have had trouble keeping a straight face if I ever met him or talked to him. ❤️❤️❤️

I even remember seeing Aladin, the original cartoon movie, when it first came out in theaters.

@@MrParkerman6that's true he isn't. Sterling Holloway (1905--1992) originally voiced Pooh, while Paul Winchell (1922--2005) originally voiced Tigger.
Cummings took over the role of Pooh years after Holloway retired from showbiz and passed away in 1992, and was able to take on the role of Tigger as well upon Winchell's passing in 2005.
He was the Shocker in the Spider-Man cartoon, too.

Mr. J. CUMMINGS - I'm sure you've heard a thousand times how much their children adored Winnie, Tigger & the whole gang. Our younger one was . . . fanatical about Winnie (bedroom decor & all). As an adult college student, studying in England, she had her photo taken with the statue of Lt. Colburn & the "real" Winnie. So, THANK YOU for lending your talents to the characters & giving soooo much JOY to children (of all ages) everywhere.
