OMG - That's exactly what I was going to write. Tommy Shaw is really a great guitarist. I appreciate that a lot more now that I'm not in my 20s driving a long commute and hearing Styx all too often. They were one of the bands that lifted us out of the disco desert of the 70s
I saw this band - Gowan instead of DDY - a couple weeks ago, 27 years after this video, and they were every bit as good if not better. Tommy, JY, Chuck, and Todd Sucherman have been kicking ass nonstop.
This is one of the best of Styx and I love it all. This is the best because they have too much time on their hands, everyone is blond and everyone is like a Canadian BUT they are American. I love the music and it goes to show That we in Canada are overwhelmed by your fantastic Classic rock music from the late 70s to the 21 Century Tommy, You are the best.
Paradise Theater has to be one of the greatest rock albums in history! I got it in 1981, just after I got my Rogers R-380 drumkit, and I HAD to learn these songs! Yeah, it was hard, and with a Zildjian A series Ride, Crash-Ride, Thin Crash, and New beat Hi Hats, I just got, not long before I got this record, I had alot to do with only a little in the lines of cymbals! I played my ASS off, and damned if I didn't get this WHOLE ALBUM DOWN PAT! These days, I still have my Rogers R-380 set, now with Paiste 2002 cymbals, and a bunch of them, so I can easily play those famous licks! Just plain incredible band, incredible music--when EVERY SONG is as good as the others, it means it's a perfect album--and this one was! STYX FOREVER!
I am happy to say I saw Styx last week. Riverfront.... Louisville Kentucky. They come around a lot. I have seen them several times in the last five years... usually with REO. They are all great and it's good to see real band's out there.
One of the sadder rock stories....! Such a talented bunch. Not too late guys, put aside the past and get back together. Millions miss you and want to hear you all together again....! What's stopping you....too much time on your hands?
When music was at its best! Artists nowadays have to lip sync everything. The bands/artists of the 70s, 80s and some of the 90s don't, because they're REAL. ARTISTS.
Great song, written from an idea from a fellow customer, at a bar in Niles Michigan (about 34 minutes from my house) when Tommy lived here. This is the year John passed away from cirrhosis and subsequently, it was the last year that STYX was original. John was falling very ill (that's why they don't show him much close up in this concert) and still played an awesome show! The same year Todd Sucherman stepped in and has been the drummer for 30+ years. as retired professional drummer for 30 years in Los Angeles, I can only wonder what it's like to play the same 95% same songs for three decades, no wonder he's kickin ass!
Tommy Shaw is one of the most underrated guitarists ever (I know it sounds cliche, but it’s true.) he was the one inspired me to pick up the guitar, and the solo to too much time on my hands got me inspired to play lead! I loved the feel of the solo! Tommy is such a great player! Def in my top 5 influences next to EVH and Ace Frehley
Completely off the subject but every time I see Tommy when young, he seems to have such a cute baby face. No baby could sing and play like that. He was in his early 40's when the did this video.
Tommy and JY make my heart melt. Their interactions always destroy my bromance heart. I'm always watching for their exchanges because they're so sweet. Their friendship is so solid. #friendshipgoals
Have just been to my first ever styx concert and didn't leave my lounge room. Thanks styx and youtube. Fan bloody tastic. Come to hervey bay here in Australia .
I saw a video of Dennis’ bad and he had two guys that try to look like JY and Tommy. There is a song where Tommy rolls his eyes back and forth. When the guy did it a shiver ran down my spine it was so awful.
My favorte album listen back my high school days. Class of 1983 in Iowa. Not far from Clear Lake Iowa small town Forest City Iowa. One greatest video ever. Truly enjoy the song. A plus.
use to listen to styx all the time. I'm class of '80 from the twin cities. they are comimg in June to Minnesota but I don't drive so I will probably miss them again.
At 78 this song still gets my blood flowing.
Are you an air guitar guy or drummer?
I tend to morph back and forth.
🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
John Panozzo drummer member of Styx in 1983

Hell yeah!! I've seen him live, he is amazing!!!
Dennis wasn't the frontman.. He was one of the frontman.
Agreed
Why is he underrated? i have never once heard that
No one is underrated. Just an overused comment on TH-cam
I had forgotten how talented and spectacular Styx music was and still is. Love their Angry Young Man with the contemporary Youth orchestra.

I've been saying that for years and years
Oh but Jay Z and a bunch of other rappers are 🤮🤬
OMG - That's exactly what I was going to write. Tommy Shaw is really a great guitarist. I appreciate that a lot more now that I'm not in my 20s driving a long commute and hearing Styx all too often. They were one of the bands that lifted us out of the disco desert of the 70s
+1 and to still be able to do that guitar solo that well that many years later, and be just as good as it ever was... yes.
⁰p⁰⁰pooppp@@ronmitchmusic4154
Tommy Shaw hasn’t lost his touch AT ALL! Even today he can still got them notes and has the same Enthusiasm
i’ve got dozens of friends and the fun never ends, as long as JY is buying!

Seen Styx 3 times...always a good show. You can tell they're having fun up there...never routine!
I have said it so many times he is incredibly underrated. I am so embarrassed I didn't know who he was until I saw him on live st Darryls house.

Have seen them 6 times they do not disappoint. Even without Dennis D Young they still kick ass
I love them even without Dennis.

When bands could actually entertain
( True musical Artist).
I saw this band - Gowan instead of DDY - a couple weeks ago, 27 years after this video, and they were every bit as good if not better. Tommy, JY, Chuck, and Todd Sucherman have been kicking ass nonstop.

How can you not love the rhythm of this song?
This is one of the best of Styx and I love it all. This is the best because they have too much time on their hands, everyone is blond and everyone is like a Canadian BUT they are American. This was fucking awesome. I love the original, but this up-tempo performance is the knees of bees. Thank you for posting this.
Who else was in high school in 1981
Tommy Shaw--true showman and entertainer. Such energy!
I am happy to say I saw Styx last week. Riverfront.... Louisville Kentucky. They come around a lot. I have seen them several times in the last five years... usually with REO. They are all great and it's good to see real band's out there.

+QBAN2010 seen them late 2015,,,,chuck played couple songs with them,,,,,seeing them again this may,,,,,they rocked
They are together and the best ever. Fuck Dennis
QBAN2010 completely happy without DdY
Dennis was a drama queen tyrant and the one who contributed to the breakup. I like the guy but he wasn't ready to roll with the rest of the band.
How do you know this?
@@Fiona2254
Love Tommy and the rest of the band. Tommy stands out and is brilliant.
Paradise Theater was the first cassette I ever purchased. This was the song that blew my very young mind
So much energy from all of them! Love Styx!

Ace but yes Tommy is great as EVH!
Styx is the first band I ever saw live in the late 1970's. Now I feel old lol. By the way one of Tommy's best guitar solos in my opinion. ROCK ON!!!!
Don't feel old feel privileged
I dig It Man ! Funky tunes, go Tommy and crew !
Dios nunca termino de maravillarme de lo genial que es Tommy

Completely off the subject but every time I see Tommy when young, he seems to have such a cute baby face. No baby could sing and play like that. He was in his early 40's when the did this video.

Tommy and JY make my heart melt.
Their interactions always destroy my bromance heart.
I'm always watching for their exchanges because they're so sweet. Their friendship is so solid. #friendshipgoals
Ill never forget seeing them in the early 2000's at the Wisconsin state fair. One of the best concerts I've been to
⚡ I like this song very much⚡
You are the greatist band of all times.
By a whisker. 2 bags i call her. Busted me for another bag. Respect her. Can't stay home and you can't leave here. Appreciate her.
Saw this tour at Starlake Amphitheater in Pittsburgh.
They totally kicked ass.

tommy shaw ilove you!!!
I DO LOVE THIS SONG, ALL THE DIFFERENT VERSIONS ARE GREAT!! !RAK3-7
He and Dennis have both really kept their chops. Amazing with them both having higher voices.Too bad it's doubtful we ever hear them together again.
I saw a video of Dennis’ bad and he had two guys that try to look like JY and Tommy. There is a song where Tommy rolls his eyes back and forth. When the guy did it a shiver ran down my spine it was so awful.
Fact. Good man. You are The President for a reason. Thanks much.
Inolvidable, han pasado mas de 30 años desde que conocí a STYX y nunca me cansaré de volver a levitar con este tema . Perú los recuerda siempre.
Tommy is for sure the best, Love ya Man
Outstanding
Let’s all get together and get these guys in the RR Hall of Fame. Everyone do their diligence please
Always loved this album....

tremendo temaso !!..una de mis bandas favoritas de los 80s.saludos desde chile !!
Styx with Dennis is Styx ..Without Dennis I was bored at the concert..Then I watched pay Dennis play Styx and I all came back
Holy Cow Dennis DeYoung had a voice similar and just as powerful as Freddy Mercury's! What a voice.
Impressionante como é igual ao ano de 1981!! 🎉❤ Nada aqui envelheceu, somente foi o tempo que passou. Sensacional!! 😂❤🎉
