I saw Styx a couple of years ago on July 24th at the Cynthia Woods Mitchell Pavilion in the Woodlands,Tx.They come to Houston every summer.I had a chance to see them in 1977 when they opened for KISS.Tommy Shaw is an amazing guitarist.
I thank God Almighty I lived in this time,,, I've seen Styx many times, always the Greatest show on earth I love all the Members of Styx, Thank you been a Fan from the Start ❤
Thank GOD, indeed! I'm 67 and I lived in "the best of times" in the most free Country on Earth...(though the times they are a-changin'). I'm the prophesied return of the biblical prophet Elijah. And I'm a rock-and-roller who has seen many many major concerts. "Styx" was the first. I was a senior in high school in 1975 when they came to our tiny area and played at a high school football field in a nearby town. ("The Godz" opened for them, fittingly enough!) Little did I know t the time that I was preparing to "come sail away" in the US Navy. And GOD has talked to me through a number of their songs. Three other bands that GOD chose to address me through (big-time!) were: Grand Funk Railroad, The Moody Blues, and The Neville Brothers. As a prophet of GOD, I was sent to set the record straight. Because, the religions have corrupted the message. When GOD says "good news," GOD means GOOD NEWS!!!! "Just remember that it's a Grand Illusion, and deep inside we're all the same." EVERYONE, without prejudice!
Styx, Kansas, early Doobies, Allman Brothers, Lynyrd Skynyrd, early Billy Joel, and that just scratching the surface, and then we go across the pond. The 70’s were such a blessing.
Mr Dilly has had the Absolute privilege of seeing the "Original" Styx in concert... quite a few times..and believe me....they epitomize... True Rock and Roll at it's Amazing Best !!!! Tommy Shaw and Da Boyz ..Are..still kicking Ass in 2024 !! Styx.. Forever !!! 👍🎸😎♥️
I'm a lucky man, got to see the Crystal Ball, G Illusion & Pieces of 8 concerts, then Styx w/REO in 2009 (front row-center baby!) AND Dennis D. in 2010
Most bands are somewhat disappointing in live concerts, where the vocalists never hit the high notes. That was before a man named, Tommy Shaw. No lip-synching here! The entire band is absolutely AMAZING! Btw, this is an anti-war song. God bless 'em!
What memories I have of the 70s , Styx, Rush, Kansas, Aerosmith, Zeppelin, Black Sabbath and so many others. The music was amazing. Later in life I became a Queensrÿche fan. When music and musicians told stories with their songs. I remember getting ripped and playing Rush 2112 . I listened to that album enough I could sing it entirely from that night on. Good times brother 😊
Such great versions of these songs. The finale 🤯 The guys still deliver after All of these years. What show is this from? I want to see the whole thing!
Old time Styx fan and still love Tommy Shaw and JY but damn Lawrence Gowan butchered Castle Walls and only DDY can do that great song justice both singing and playing the keyboards
@@vsenefsky Really ?? Tell us all about your international fame , the millions you've earned , all your awards , and millions of people following your career. Yeah , man , tell us all. ‼️‼️🌝🌝😀😄😆😆😅😅😂😂🤣🤣🤣😭😭😭😭
DDY couldn't keep up with this band. He has his own and sounds like a lounge singer. He has a look alike Styx band and his wife pretends to sing backup. You can still see him sing on Utube. I don't remember him playing keyboards but just positioned as a lead singer. He is truly comical. Some of the things he says makes you break out laughing.
@catherineferguson7646 To many drugs are clouding your judgment and I don't know when you started seeing Styx but for me it was 1979 and DDY still sounds great and yes he played the keyboards which tells me you don't know the original Styx not to know that and still will put DDY up against that want to be Lawrence Gowan anyday.
This band needs to be in Rock & Roll hall of fame!!!!@
One of the greatest rock and roll bands ever , back when talent was everywhere.

@@tomrhodes1629Good to know that Elijah is a Styx fan.
Yes indeed, I'm almost 62 and grew up in the 70's and we had the best music and bands of all times 😊
I lived this album in the mid 70s,
Me too. I was 15 and they were awesome. ❤ I'm upset they are not in R&R Hall of fame.
@@ldhunt1474 I was 11 but look, M&M is in the HOF where is Kansas in the HOF

I'm 61 and that's all I listen to and know.👍😎😎😎
How does Tommy Shaw pull off those screams at the end, LIVE!!?? Incredible.
Because he's Tommy Bleeping Shaw!

One of the greatest songs ever written in my opinion.
Definitely one of my favorites by Styx. Thank you 🙏 for sharing your great music with us today and forever.❤️
One of my all time favorites absolutely 💯 great
Most bands are somewhat disappointing in live concerts, where the vocalists never hit the high notes. That was before a man named, Tommy Shaw. No lip-synching here! The entire band is absolutely AMAZING! Btw, this is an anti-war song. God bless 'em!
My favorite song by Styx is Queen of Spades and my second favorite is Man in the Wilderness.
simply beautiful Tommy
Styx live filled a piece of my bucket list. Absolutely awesome!
The grand illusion tour was one of the greatest concerts I've ever seen.
Styx is one of my favorite bands of all and I love ❤️ them.
Smoked my first joint listening to Grand Illusion album
Kick Ass Jam! Tommy Shaw has lungs! Got to meet Him in 96. Road Wars, With Kansas ❤️
In 1976 I was on a army base for boot camp

It's ok if they call us "old". You and I got to see the GOOD bands.
@@MB-dx1cg you got that right brother.
i’m glad sticks is found a little bit of a home online. They sure have kept it fairly classy over the years. The orchestra stuff is killer.
Got my tickets to see these guys live in July!!
Man In The Wilderness,Castle Walls,The Grand Finaleの後半3曲はdramaticで素晴らしいです。
Got to give a nod to Todd. One of the best in the business.
Awesome band see them everytime there in the neighborhood
Saw them in Milwaukee in 1979. Future husband too. At Summerfest. We didn't meet until 1981
I was there, came up from Chicago to see them.
Saw the Grand Illusion tour in Corpus Christi, TX
Legs Diamond opened the show.
Heaven!
Great choonage, I often played these on pirate radio in London, but terrible compression effects on audio
Epicness
So damn good
Sure hope I can get this whole song at the concert🤞
My Ultimate Band
Different members. Still Great
Such great versions of these songs.
The finale 🤯
The guys still deliver after All of these years.

I want to see the whole thing!
It's from 2010. Here's the full show - th-cam.com/video/m9QfV55XOLg/w-d-xo.html

Wonder why JY doesn't get the accolades he deserves.
Todd Sucherman absolutely Rocks
Yes, even my untrained ear picked up on his skill and talent.
Love ❤❤them❤❤
What song legendary 🔥🔥
Castle Walls 😎

Patty M CO USA 06.02.24
God damn
And a tune had a story or something to say.
I prefer Lawrence to Dennis any day! The group is a thousand times better without all the strife DDY caused.
Absolutely, and Lawrence is twice the showman as DDY!
Why is Styx not in the RRHOF…why!
Such an epic song and album
I'm so glad I grew up with Styx instead of Taylor Swift... These poor kids today...
Dennis DeYoung was the bomb. Not the same without him.
Totally agree dude!!👍😎😎
DDY was and is a great talent. It's unfortunate they did not get along.
Good, but not as good without Dennis.
only roy fred has a better voice than tommy
