I actually have dipped strawberries in sugar. Most of the time they just aren't sweet enough because I'm in Canada and unless it's June we have no local strawberries and imported ones are never ripe enough. The sugar makes them taste so much better.

My fav pie is blackberry, specifically blackberries from the west side of Washington state that you pick yourself. That pie tastes so much better after you spend hours on the side of the highway in the sun getting covered in scratches to get enough blackberries to make only two pies. Fantastic.

In South Africa we have lemon meringue pie and that's about it. We don't really do the sweet pies, only savoury. Sweet pies are very much an American thing. Fun fact: where I grew up vanilla custard pies are made with graham cracker crust and meringue tops and called flapper pie. They are excellent.
Are you from Manitoba or Saskatchewan? The only people I've ever met that know about flapper pie are from the prairies lol. Flapper pie is my absolute fav. 😋
Best thing to do with strawberries:
Cut them really small, sprinkle some brown sugar on top of them and then drown them in milk. Stir it until the sugar dissolves and then put it in the fridge for a few hours.
