Brazilian chicken pot pie is actually called "empada" in the country. Seeing the chef talk about it made me so emotional! Its truly a joy and a privilege to live in such a diverse country with a close connection to the kitchen.

I LOVE how this episode centred on culinary experiences from immigrants from parts of the world whose cuisine we don't usually hear about! The part where the woman from Brazil said, "We make it differently here than in Brazil because here, you have the privilege to buy one certain kind of meat' - I got chills. What a wonderful acknowledgement of how resourceful people are when there is no access to luxury!

Well Apple Pie is much older than Pumpkin Pie (so more of a classic in my mind); with the oldest recipe coming from England in the year 1381. Pumpkin pie has recipes from the 1650’s and 1670’s (from England and France), but it wasn’t until the late 1700’s that a recipe, very close to what American’s would know today, was published.

I love that they use different metaphors to describe the same feeling. "Familiar new friend" "Familiar baseball mitt" Their upbringing is different but the feelings are the same. The chef should be proud to evoke such feelings.
What makes it an “Australian” pie is usually that the bottom shell is supposed to be shortcrust pastry (ideally hot water pastry) and puff on the top. Sure its roots are in England but thats the profile of Aust pies.
Based on this comment section, I have determined 5% of people in NZ are eating most of those pies. Many are saying almost daily; that's 20x more than 15 pies!

For you Steven... when a cat comes up to you and rolls onto its back it is exposing its stomach to you as a huge sign of trust.. they're giving you access to thier vitals (throat and stomach) because they trust you won't harm them.. its one of the biggest signs you can get that a cat loves you very much!

They don't need to. They already basically shout them out in the videos
@@WhatIsTheHeat Its more convenient to have the links in the description than to skip back throgh the video if you're like me and you forget the names right away. Also sometimes I don't understand the names or I mishear them.
@@rebekka8887 The say it pretty clearly. Unless you aren't a native english speaker you should be fine. They aren't habla gated (ha) to put the links in the description. They also show a photo of the place they get it from which will usually say the name. Unless you are blind then you should be fine
@@rebekka8887 It’s true that they do have the right to not put names and links to the restaurants in the description. But, it would such a boon to those restaurants (especially considering the praise they gave them).
It’d also make it easier for the consumer (I.e. the viewer) to locate. If they don’t care about helping grow that business then not putting names and links is fine. But, I think it’d be a mark of good character (and it wouldn’t hurt their business).
It’d just be nice

What makes it an “Australian” pie is usually that the bottom shell is supposed to be shortcrust pastry (ideally hot water pastry) and puff on the top. Sure its roots are in England but thats the profile of Aust pies.
As a Brit living in NZ, I've had a lot more than 15 pies this year...
Based on this comment section, I have determined 5% of people in NZ are eating most of those pies. Many are saying almost daily; that's 20x more than 15 pies!
Could easily eat 15 a month without thinking that I'm eating too many pies.

ie: If you try to go for their belly, they'll "bite" you because they think you are wanting to play-fight with them.
