This is a way better format than the FIDE Championship. Much more exciting to watch, more interesting for the players, novel decision trees generated from shorter time control paired with the playoff format. Glad we have this series. On that note, great production work for the event coverage. Especially with the pub crowd interspersed with the quality commentating, the fun and creative interludes, the graphics -- it all feels more like a sporting event than chess has ever felt. Kudos to the team.
That was extremely confident win for Magnus. He wasn't even close to getting into trouble for whole tournament. Only Fabi was a some challenage but still 2:0 on sets.
@OkaySweetheart He already had 4 points before lose. From the perspective of the whole tournament, the loss in the round robon did not threaten him in any way from the point of view of advancement. It's chess, you can't win every game. Sometimes you lose. Important is when you lose and how lose will be impact to you and your performace.
This was my first ever chess tourney and I'm glad it was reccomended to me, I got totally hooked. I do wish producttion would be better about showing the board bigger tho.
Guys, can I just say that I absolutely love what you do with the awesome sport of Chess! You have brought even more fun to our world with these creative content and how you broadcast chess tournaments etc.. You rock! Chess rocks!

Well, Wesley getting his rook trapped like tht was a 1500 level error. But then, when you have got too many combinations going through your head,& you have 3 minutes left on the clock, against Carlsen, its easy to mke such a mistake

I would love it if the constant commentating during the games would pause for a few minutes every now and then, just showing the board, so we can just watch chess. It's gets a bit overwhelming and exhausting -- even though it is excellent. I guess there is the mute button. I find it very difficult to do my own analysis with the nonstop commentator analysis. Tnhere have been several times where there is a deep analysis going on on a line when a completely different line has been played minutes ago . Not that alternative variations aren't important, but I could see a better balance here.
Could have been a different story had wesley forced it to Armageddon...He would have been the last to win a game prior to Armageddon.. so it's a psychological Momentum in Wesley's favor
i wish we could hear what the players say after their match. i know its not a normal thing to hear, but it would be a nice touch. even if they decide to just not say anything (if they know it will be recorded).
There was a budget for a real trophy but Danny Rench used almost all of it to nearly overdose on cocaine, so this morning they had to improvise so they sent levy to the flower shop and printed this picture of a trophy. Later Danny, during his cocaine mania came up with a plan to scam back the money he lost nearly overdosing and made an nft of this picture of a trophy.
