It's a better rivalry than any of the games that's for sure. I'm not too huge on the first arc, but the rivalry between these 2 was by far the highlight everytime they met. Every encounter between them had some meaning and changed them somewhat. Not quite a perfect one, but I hope one day this level of rivalry will be common in mainline Pokémon.
Couldn't agree more bro. While this arc isn't my favorite one, there are a few special highlights that I'll always remember it for. And this is easily the biggest one. The fact that every encounter had proper purpose really showed that Mr. Kusaka had a proper plan in this the whole time. And I daresay he executed it very well. This easily should be the norm for rivals in mainline Pokemon and I genuinely hope that one day, they are able to accomplish just that.
Wow, watching this really made me want to reread the first arc! Having never played the first game, I can’t really compare Green in both stories. However, you did a great job explaining it to where I could understand despite having close to no prior knowledge of the games. This was a great video ^^
I'm really glad that you enjoyed the video so much that you wanted to reread the first arc. It's all the more motivation for me to keep at it! And wow, really? That's a bit surprising. But yeah, you weren't missing much. In the games, Green in no way develops throughout the story and stays as a douchebag. He may show growth in the GSC games, but nothing about him is elevated in the slightest. Which is a shame. But I'm really glad that my explanation was enough for you to connect the dots. Really felt that I could have done more haha. It looks like it was all good though! Thank you very much my friend! Can't wait to upload more Adventures content! 2021 about to be filled with em!

You mirrored my thoughts exactly. To this date, I genuinely disliked every single canonical rivalry in the games. The same even applies to the anime too as while I enjoyed Paul vs Ash's story, I think there were some elements they lacked in to truly make that rivalry reach that peak they easily could have. Green in the games has no character or substance whatsoever other than just being a prick. And while he does show more maturity in the sequels, nothing about him feels elevated for me. @@TheUziGunner honestly the biggest thing that hurts the games in that regard is that the player is a silent protagonist so there's no opportunity for any actual dialogue between the two. doesn't make for many genuinely interesting rivalries without expansions from the source material such as the manga or games.
@@azeryjanvier2320 Oh I definitely agree! The protagonist being silent does hold back from creating a fleshed out rivalry. Although at the same time, I'd argue that it involves other factors like every rival (Blue included) being a punching bag for the protagonist throughout the story. Making it lose all point of a "rival" and instead making them just another person with unique music. Made worse by the easy difficulty. While it'd be difficult, I think it is still possible to write a proper rivalry in games. Although it'd have to depend on dialogue options, cinematic scenes and other jrpg tropes to hammer the point in. All of which while there in Pokémon, is still very lacking at the moment. And the anime is too inconsistent with their writing to make a well fleshed out rivalry (to me i.e). But yeah. Hoping future gens write these rivalries better. It's becoming tiresome at this point
I think Blue not getting it even by the end of RBY and then having matured when you see him again in GSC is way more interesting way to tell his story than the cliched character arcs we usually get in the series. He's also just a fun antagonist with an awesome entrance theme in RBY.
This was absolutely awesome I love the adventures manga and I’m just gonna re read it now cause of this video I’m so exited to see that Blue video. She’s my favorite character would love to see and analysis on her.
Still the plan. The funny thing about dreams is so as long as you're still breathing, they never die. They're just waiting for you. Currently, I'm in a phase where I'm using draft format to transition myself back to regular uploads again. All of this will build towards more Pokemon content, including Pokemon Adventures. I only ask that for now, you stay patient (and even check out my new stuff. I think you'd enjoy it). I will be back.
Well the only thing I don't like about manga is that it follows the events of games except some arcs then also some special elements of manga makes it very interesting to read.
The best thing about the manga is that they Acknowlege Green/Blue(depending on the translation) as the certified Pokemon Trainer, not Red because Red's strength is growth through Battle which in turn certifies him as one of the best Pokemon Battlers
5:00 “Green...” “My name is Blue!!” This is why I sometimes refer to manga Green and Blue as the Turquoise duo, lmao Edit: a second exclamation point!!
Thank you very much friend! Hope to not disappoint. More coming soon! As for my favorites. So far, my favorite dex holder is Ruby. He in my eyes has been the most fleshed out protagonist with the best on screen character development! As for the villain, it'd have to be Giovanni. The Mask of Ice was a close second that made me shed tears in the story finale, but I had hoped to have their motives get drawn out more. Especially when they ended up causing damage on the catastrophic and desperate levels they did. Giovanni on the other hand was exceptional. Every single scene he is a part of was brilliant and continued to leave me with even more questions afterwards! 100% the best incarnation of the character!
Blue (or Green) of the Manga is just BEST than the game and the Anime, his growth and his ideals of becoming a strong trainer are fascinating. In the game and the Anime you hated him but in the Manga you love him from the start because represents more the gamer for training the pokémon to just battle everyone you see. More strategical and more realistic, this is the real pokémon... the version we needed to grown and not with that sh*t of Ash.
Because when the games were brought to the west the third game Pokémon blue was already made in Japan and since Pokémon green was known to be a very buggy game they repurposed Pokémon blue to be the companion piece to Pokémon red when brought to the rest of the world.
I didn't. These are their original names. The localisers decided to switch their names to stick to what the rival is called in International releases. But by doing so, they created a big contradiction in this series. The protagonists are known for having eye colours that match their names. Highlighted in the later arcs. Green (rival) has green eyes and Blue (female) has blue eyes. Just like how Red has red eyes and so on. Lastly in the FRLG arc, each of the original trio are the face of the 3 volumes in said arc. Where the colours of the volumes match their names. And one quick Google search should show you what they are. So yeah. Minus this being how I got introduced to them, there's just way too many contradictions otherwise for me to stick to what the localisers did. Hence me calling them their original names. Hope this clarifies!
Oh wait his hair color changed? I always assumed it just had different lighting or something -- occasionally they do get the colors weird on the covers.
I’ve really appreciated Red and Blue’s rivalry but there’s one thing I still don’t understand. Red didn’t actually win against Blue: he just defeated his Charizard and Machamp: Blue could still use his Ninetales. Moreover, Red used four Pokémon while Blue only three. That doesn’t seem fair to me
Viz had the cleanest print. So I used em heh. It wasn't like that when I started reading it 7 years back. So yeah. It's probably silly of me, but it wouldn't do justice to the memory I've made with both Blue and Green respectively all these years ago. My bad if it annoyed you :P
You're so freaking inconsistent with your names. You say you're gonna insist on calling him Green, even though that just makes it more confusing for your viewers due to him being called Blue in the games here. But then you go a call him Blue in the title and description to your video.
With good reason. I call him "Blue" in the title and description because that's a more eye catching title than being adamant with my belief and calling him "Green" there too. This is TH-cam. And as evident as it is, I'm not a big channel. In this game, everything matters. So I hope you don't hold it against me that I did what I needed to do to get more people to likely click on the video to see what I put countless hours of my life into because "Blue" is the more recognized name. To get favor from the algorithm. To break out. As for your other bit, I'd like to bring to your attention that you're the first person in this video to point out the confusion aspect. I distinctly said that I would refer to him as Green because it's how I got introduced to him as a kid. And the fact that his name is "Green" in Japan is more common knowledge than you think. Regardless, I won't disregard your comment for it is genuine criticism on your behalf. I'll be sure to take it under advisement and make things less confusing next time. Thank you very much. :)
In hindsight, I definitely should have done a better job and said that this was his original name like I did in my other 2 videos. And me starting the video, calling him "Green" and only saying in the short segment that I'd be calling "Blue", "Green" is one that's bound to confuse. That was bad writing on my behalf and I apologize for that. Thank you for making me realize that!
I hate people like you who hate anime just because it is illogical, I have read upto the emerald arc and I have noticed many mistakes. If you think the anime is stupid because Ash's Pikachu hit ground type Pokemon with electric type move then go and see red vs Giovanni( the first fight not the fire red and leafgreen chapter fight) pokespe, red's Pikachu defeated Giovanni's ground type Pokemon with electric moves, and also in the same fight red's aerodactyl lost to tail whip, literally tail whip, a move which only lowers the opponents defence and it doesn't do any damage. And also the masked man's identity was such a failure, I expected a good twist but it turned out to be Pryce which was super predictable. And in the fire red and leafgreen arc, silver was literally shown in Giovanni's arms so the twist was ruined. Also if you think the anime is stupid for using power of friendship bullshit to make their protagonists win then go and see emerald chapter.
You are welcome to think the way you wish. And sure. Your points do who have some semblance of validity. Especially when I look at it in retrospective and see the flaws of the manga itself. However, I find the inconsistencies of the battles. Especially in the future arcs to be much less present than the issues shown in the very first arc, i.e Giovanni losing to thunderbolt. Even today 20+ years into its existence, these exact issues exist in the anime. Same with its continuity, plot (sans Sun and Moon which was great) among many other things. I will acknowledge your point on Emerald however and concede on that. Same with the Pryce reveal because they made it really obvious. However I won't change my stance on finding the manga's world building, long term storytelling, continuity, character points and battling to be far less inconsistent, and instead well thought out and more sensible than the anime. Especially with its proper use of resources in the concepts of the dex and Science itself. That is my personal preference. Just like you have with yours. There is no "right" here because the opinion of a human mind will always be subjective. If my preference angers you, then I'm sorry you feel that way. To end this, "hate" in itself is a strong word. If you genuinely find yourself resenting me over expressing my own thoughts. Over a series at that which I like to think I voiced respectfully without demeaning anybody, then there really is nothing for me to say. I hope you have a good day. :)
@@awesomenessft.savage7401 No offense taken at all friend. I appreciate you apologizing. There is no need to delete the comment because minus some words, this was your opinion. My only request is that you refrain from using such ill words next time, when telling me something, unless I warrant it for using harsh words myself that can be offensive in any of my future videos. Always know that I'm more than happy to have a civil and constructive discussion with those that think differently from my perspective. That is after all the only way, we can develop a proper understanding between ourselves instead of breeding more hate. That is my approach at things. It's your choice to ultimately decide how you choose to approach things. Regardless, thank you for apologizing. :)

I miss your uploads bro, you had the best draft league content! 🙌🏾
Not done yet.
See you soon.
This was absolutely awesome I love the adventures manga and I’m just gonna re read it now cause of this video I’m so exited to see that Blue video. She’s my favorite character would love to see and analysis on her.

Means the world friend. Thank you very much! I'll do my best to not let you down ❤
Great video looking forward for more pokemon adventure content
Thank you very much mate! More coming very soon, I assure you
Great vid, loved watching it.
Much love my friend. Thank you very much! Just getting started now. 2021 is gonna be FILLED with Pokemon Adventures content!
I feel Red and Green's rivalry is very brother like.
While definitely not the best arc in the series, it’s a good starting point.
I wonder if theuzigunner plans to continue these adventure manga videos
Still the plan. The funny thing about dreams is so as long as you're still breathing, they never die. They're just waiting for you.
Currently, I'm in a phase where I'm using draft format to transition myself back to regular uploads again. All of this will build towards more Pokemon content, including Pokemon Adventures. I only ask that for now, you stay patient (and even check out my new stuff. I think you'd enjoy it). I will be back.
I really got back to this amazing manga.
That is absolutely amazing friend! Hope you enjoy it! More Adventures content coming very soon!
@@TheUziGunner I left of at Diamond and Pearl, but the library's closed and I didn't buy the books.
Well the only thing I don't like about manga is that it follows the events of games except some arcs then also some special elements of manga makes it very interesting to read.
Hmm definitely see where you're coming from!
@@TheUziGunner Well what's your opinion about it?
WE WANT MORE!! WE WANT MORE!!
Red is basically the ash of the manga but infinitely better due to his story being shorter
The best thing about the manga is that they Acknowlege Green/Blue(depending on the translation) as the certified Pokemon Trainer, not Red because Red's strength is growth through Battle which in turn certifies him as one of the best Pokemon Battlers
You should do a video about ruby and sapphire
I will cover every arc. And trust me, I am especially looking forward to Ruby and Sapphire. It's my favorite arc and has my favorite cast 😁

5:00 “Green...” “My name is Blue!!” This is why I sometimes refer to manga Green and Blue as the Turquoise duo, lmao
Edit: a second exclamation point!!
I subscribed. What your favorite pokedex holder and villain? Mine are Yellow (good person.) And the mask of ice ( the villian.). What are yours?
@@TheUziGunner that's some good choices.
Let's remember the fact that red can talk
Yes. Yes he can 😂
He did speak in masters if I recall
Blue (or Green) of the Manga is just BEST than the game and the Anime, his growth and his ideals of becoming a strong trainer are fascinating. In the game and the Anime you hated him but in the Manga you love him from the start because represents more the gamer for training the pokémon to just battle everyone you see. More strategical and more realistic, this is the real pokémon... the version we needed to grown and not with that sh*t of Ash.
Shouldn’t Green still have Ninetales to fight?
Cool stuff!
Thank you! Glad you enjoyed
why did they change green's name to blue and vice versa?
Because when the games were brought to the west the third game Pokémon blue was already made in Japan and since Pokémon green was known to be a very buggy game they repurposed Pokémon blue to be the companion piece to Pokémon red when brought to the rest of the world.
Kalos gang is good in the manga so look forward to that
👀👀👀
why did you switch blue's and green's name
Hope this clarifies!
so why did Red's hair change from Black to brown?
GSC he had black hair
FRLG he has brown hair....
Probably decided to dye it like other humans do? Nothing wrong with that 😋
Oh wait his hair color changed? I always assumed it just had different lighting or something -- occasionally they do get the colors weird on the covers.
I’ve really appreciated Red and Blue’s rivalry but there’s one thing I still don’t understand. Red didn’t actually win against Blue: he just defeated his Charizard and Machamp: Blue could still use his Ninetales. Moreover, Red used four Pokémon while Blue only three. That doesn’t seem fair to me
My pokemon are exactly like Green's pokemon.

Where did this question come from and how is this relevant to the video? 😅
But to answer your question, I believe so yes
@@TheUziGunner I know it's not related to this video.

Viz had the cleanest print. So I used em heh. It wasn't like that when I started reading it 7 years back. So yeah. It's probably silly of me, but it wouldn't do justice to the memory I've made with both Blue and Green respectively all these years ago. My bad if it annoyed you :P
Oh
I mean, what I said was supposed to be a joke but the response became a fun fact
@@SnowBoy1008 Ahh all good then! Thanks for the clarification. Hope you still enjoyed the video! More coming soon 😁
@@TheUziGunner i did!
@@TheUziGunner sorry if I offended you :( .
