I just hope the remake won't follow this trend of overly childish pokemon games, and will embrace the mature and solemn aura of Sinnoh. Yes, It's a game for kids. And a kid I was when Sinnoh showed me that places and communities didn't need to evoque constant happiness for them to be beautiful. There's beauty in silence and respect.
I hope they dont ruin Sinnoh in the remakes, even ORAS good as it was felt very kid friendly, I really want the new DPP to be more challenging and with the same aura, but after seeing Sun, Moon, US, UM and Sword / Shield I realised that we are screwed, each new game gamfreak just dumbs down the games and makes the story feel less and less meaningful, I am playing through Shield now and this new team is just annoying, unrepeatable and unneeded, even team plasma was relatable and you could see where Cyrus was coming from.
I genuinely consider Platinum to be one of gaming’s greatest masterpieces. Is nostalgia a factor in that opinion? Probably, but the game always gives me such a unique feeling that I can’t quite get anywhere else.
I don't get it, I remember playing D & P at launch and I really liked it. But when Platnium came out, it seemed like a rehash of D & P but added Giritiana (idk how to spell it) and ironed out the technical problems of D & P but that's it. It was basically replaying the same game but with slight differences, like what's the big deal behind that? Am I missing something, I haven't played that since launch so maybe.
@@Lexicon-ff6or That is literally the point of the trio master game. Emerald did the same thing, with less content. It's not supposed to be a brand new story because it's still in the same region, you cracked noodle. You should know this by now.
Diamond and pearl were more visual story telling while black and white were dialog story telling I'm hoping that sword and shield can at least try to match the quality of Gen 4 or 5 Though gen 7 didn't have a bad story it was just way to hand holdy And Gen 6 I haven't replayed it since it came out so that says a lot about that game, not a bad game per se but the story wasn't good
@@pralenkaman8105 You could see attempts at a good story in XY, but the game never followed through with the elements it began with. A king gone mad after losing his Pokémon to war, obsessed over building a michine with two goals: reviving the dead, and ending the conflict with mass death on all sides. After an immeasurable amount of death, the King's beloved Pokémon leaves him, horrified at the atrocities he had committed for its sake. The king is left alone, wandering in a desolate land, inadvertently cursing himself with immortality with the same machine that claimed so much life, in contemplation of what he had done. Hundreds of years later, he learns his lesson, and his Pokémon comes back. I skipped over a few details in between, but they are minor. This was not a fleshed out story.
@@pralenkaman8105 I wouldn't say gen 7's story was good. Its just that gen 6's story was so out there that even if gen7's story was just passable we think its decent.
Generation 4 is the greatest generation of all time and I will not fight anyone who disagrees because I'm not that strong and will most likely lose but my point still stands.
I love the connections that Sinnoh makes with Johto. It's a call-back to the past while simultaneously foreshadowing the future with Heart Gold & Soul Silver. Generation 4 is honestly the best of the series.
Could you elaborate? I played Platinum and HS, and they are my two favorite games in the series but its been 10 years and I cant recall these references. However Sinnoh/Gen4 was also my first introduction to Pokemon, so not having played in Johto before would likely have made any hints go over my head.
Gen 4 is likely what made me love soothing music so much. The feeling I get when I listen to each track is unexplainable. Gen 4 is my favorite atmospheric game out of all of the games. If Gen 4 is chill hop then Gen 5 is eurobeat. The legendary encounter ost is on my workout music. The snowpoint ost is what I listen to during rainy days and some of those nights of sadness and restlessness.
Remember when everyone bashed Gen 5 for how "bad" it was and now realizing that it was actually really good? Yeah that's how good Gen 4 is, it made an actually very good sequel looks bad
I feel like gen 4 was underappreciated until gen 5 came out. Mostly because at the time a lot more people were feeling nostalgic towards the first three gens
Sean C I was thinking back to when I first bought gen4 I was blown away after playing from red and blue i was completely amazed at how far Pokémon has gone.. had no idea how far it’d go today
As someone who is a big fan of mythology, I’ve always loved the Sinnoh region and it’s lore the most. Gen 4 and Gen 5 were definitely the peak of the Pokemon series in my opinion.
For me, it's more gen 4 and gen 7. Since I'm very big on character-based stories and I think those gens had the best characters although I respect your opinions!
I would have to say Gens 3&4 were Pokemon's Peak, while Gen 5 was where the fall started. Still Gen 5 was good even though it had lesser quality designs & countless mistakes made with its anime. The worst Mystery Dungeon game also came out during Gen 5, while Gen 3 had greats like 1st Mystery Dungeon, & the Shadow Pokemon Duology, along with the last Pokemon Pinball game. Each Gen starting with 5 has been a step down from the Generation before it.
I really like Mt. Coronet that splits is down the middle. It gives Sinnoh a sense of geography since it's split into 2 parts and you have to go back and forth several times.
Gen 4 easily had the most developed lore out of the gens leading up to it. 1 had Mew and Mewtwo being these obscure burned notes in a spooky mansion, but that was it. Gen 2 honestly has fairly weak lore because they jampacked so much content that they didn't have time to flesh out anything other than Lugia/Ho-oh. 3 had a lot of good stuff, but lacked postgame content. 4 flexed on every gen in nearly every area, especially with all the awesome legendaries and lore.
I REALLY fear the sinnoh remakes will be watered down versions of what made the original game so good, ruining the atmosphere and the gameplay with dumb gimmicks and an easier dificulty scaling, aka what they did with ORAS
I would like to add something about Veilstone city. Veistone is a city of entertainment, where people are allowed to forget about all of what is going on with there life and have fun. From the common employee who wants to escape from his endless routine, to the youth who just want to have a break from a society they don't necessarily relate to. This is a city of outcast people that can't really adapt to life, and must have their void filled with never-ending entertainment to go on with life. And so I think this is a very clever touch to put de galactic HQ in this city. Because the evil team is often composed of lost, outcast young people who are influenceable, and so an easy target for Cyrus to get them radicalized. Cyrus must certainly have known what he was doing when he choose the localization of his HQ, which makes him even eviler and cool to me. (sorry if my English is weird I'm not an English native haha, I don't want to know of much time it took me to write this comment)
Also the city name is VEILstone city. Veils are used to hide things. You could say that the entertainment is a way to put a metaphorical veil on the residents’ eyes. Also, Cyrus can quickly and shockingly remove the veil from individuals, radicalizing them.
@@ExistHuman42 If we want to go a bit further on Veilstone's name, we can look at in the more literal sense. Veilstone is a city which is totally surrounded by the many caves and mountains of the region, hiding it away from the rest of Sinnoh.
I feel like this also adds reason to why there's a Galactic base in Eterna. Whereas Veilstone is where the villains get the majority of their crew, this base is an attempt to seize and usurp the secrets and history of the old Eterna City.
"Connection, sentiment, and a gratitude for all life offers" It really fits given Sinnoh reflects Hokkaido, which the Ainu tribe (who reflected such beliefs) inhabited. If you want to know more, I DEFINITELY recommend the anime/manga series "Golden Kamuy", a good read itself that'll also make you feel like you're going through Sinnoh (though for a different journey).
This made me want to replay those games. You went surprisingly in depth and it almost sounded like a documentary at times, and it reminded me why Sinnoh is my favorite region. It feels like a place with so much history and no other regions in the series replicated it on that level
I have never seen a more underrated youtuber. You somehow manage to take what I feel but can't manage to articulate and put it into words every single time without fail.
I found Gen 5's narrative to be the best, in my opinion *holds up flame shield* I felt that in Gen 4 we needed some more moments with Cyrus as a character to understand where he was coming from and the rest of Team Galactic where just average thugs, we also hear absolutely nothing from him in the post-game which is a bummer. Also kind of weird how there is a church in Sinnoh but zero mention gets made to Arceus.
the original kino's journey was a wonderful and at times horrifying watch very interesting and made you think i mean REALLY THINK. its one of the few philosophical oriented anime i know of and have watched and it really dives into the worlds. the art in it may be a little dated but i would definitely take the original over the 2017 remake any day. having watched the OG years before the remake was made the voice actor change of 2017 was too jarring for me. and in my opinion didn't fit the characters Kino and Hermes as well as the original. the original had more continuity and stories and while kino was and will always be a badass girl the focus was more on the philosophical scenarios each country faced and her experiences with them. it is a wonderful series though it has a much slower pace than the 2017 remake the payoff is much greater and leaves a greater and lasting impact on you. ahh i just realized i went off on a tangent of how much i love the original 2003 kino's journey. but hopefully there will be some you take this to heart and give the original kino's journey a watch and come to enjoy it as much as i did and still do
Nate Szigeti My only regret was I traded away the majority of my trained Pokémon for legendaries on gts. So when I check the hall of fame, I cry every time 😂🙃
Sinnoh is honestly perfect. The games had a rough start with Diamond and Pearl, on the technical side, but the region itself and the content offered was immense. So many improvements to the mechanics of the game too and a fantastic amount of content that was improved on even further in Platinum. I adore Hoenn and Johto, but even that doesn't come close to Sinnoh for me.
lol I love snow levels myself, they're definitely my favorite level archtype, but I can understand people hating the snow routes in Sinnoh with the slow movements, getting trapped, and Hail. To me it adds to the experience though, you always feel like "finally!" when you reach Snowpoint City.
I shed a tear, when i remembered how i used to play tag with my friends in the caves in pokemon platinum when i was 10 :') (2010) Even though I'm fluent in english now, I didn't really understand the game (and didn't bother to) when I was 10. But it always felt beautiful to me and reminds me of simpler times. This ties perfectly with the theme of "connection, sentiment and gratitude" since those are the feelings I have towards Platinum :')
I didn’t really “get” Sinnoh until I lived in Hokkaido. Loved how you connected the region together, and it made me want to visit Otaru again (Canalave City.)
Glad to see another Sinnoh fan, a TH-camr, too! I'm STILL playing Platinum and using my Pokémon for Battle Revolution. Gen 4, for me, was the peak of the franchise.
Hoenn had a lot of landmarks and event-like occurances(good) but the balance of the game after a certain point(maybe gym 5 idk) becomes almost all water-oriented with fish-pokemon literally everywhere and it becomes awkward or even impossible to level non Blaziken(fighting on the sharpido) pokemon that are weak to water. Gen 3 had some serious balance problems when it came to party management.
@@dddmemaybe I think it makes sense in terms of world building, hoenn is based on kyushu which comprised of a lot of tiny islands, and naturally it has a lot of water bodies in the region and therefore a lot of water pokemon thrive there. I mean, sinnoh has only 2 fire pokemon (Infernape and Rapidash) but it still makes sense because the region is extremely cold.
play Renegade Platinum you'll love it. It's an even better version! projectpokemon.org/home/forums/topic/52294-pok%C3%A9mon-renegade-platinum/ there's the description if you're curious.
@@QueenGallade98 My biggest problem with the gen 4 anime is there was quite a long gap of filler in there, but other than that I can't really complain.
@@ZeldaMasters00Z I wouldn't go and say that that's an outright "better" version, just a version with more stuff in it and an escalated difficulty. I'm sure some will enjoy it, but I wouldn't call it downright superior.
I've never heard the theming and atmosphere of Sinnoh described so well, and I've never been able to put it into words why I love Sinnoh so much. This is an incredible video!!
Gen 4 was always an overlooked gem in my eyes. People hardly ever discuss it unless talking about remakes but there's so much to Sinnoh and gen 4 as a whole. It has my favourite rival of all time as well as being the most lore-based gen.
I think its why I like Gen 2, i love Generation 4, but the map in 2, the caves and forests, crossing the sea, its one of my favourite just because i remember struggling so much to get those badges and then to find out I got to go to Kanto, I loved it and its content, Gen 3 same reasons, just exploring subterranean ocean floor, islands, Mt. Pyre etc the maps is half my reason i loved Pokemon games, the various environments give you that journey feeling.
Sinnoh has long since been my favorite region (tied with Hoenn) largely because I absolutely LOVE cold/icy areas and also because I can really get into the atmosphere there. The slow-paced nature of the region paired with some of the absolute best music In the series leaves me with a good amount of time to enjoy my adventure with my character's Pokemon as we experience the region and grow together as a team. It never really feels like I'm just going through a place as a pit stop to the get to the cool parts of my journey, but rather I find myself looking forward to getting to a location I know I really like while kind of dreading the fact that I have to leave the place I'm at currently. I seriously cannot watch anyone else play a Sinnoh game before I want to stop the video and start up a new game of Platinum. To me, Gens 3, 4, & 5 while all different, have a kind of heart to them that I love despite my inability to explain that aspect of them very well. Also I wish I could subscribe TWICE for what you said about Eterna Forest, Canalave City and Northern Sinnoh. I never really want to leave those areas once I get there even though I know I need to beat the game.
Yeah I think Snowpoint City would be a really nice place to settle down & raise a family in the postgame. Which is why I promise myself I'll return there & once I feel I've done everything that needed doing on the day of Diamond Dust I go to Snowpoint to spend the rest of my days. My headcanon, I made a home for myself in Snowpoint after seeing the Diamond Dust & my player character probably ended up marrying GymLeader Candice since I put down the game for the last time 5 years ago.
Platinum might as well be my favorite Pokémon game, or HeartGold... either one works. Gen4 is my favorite generation and the others are much harder to rank, especially between 5 and 3.
Now, you make a great deal of good points about Sinnoh being awesome. However The Reclassification of how Physical/Special moves worked with Typing was the singular greatest thing in the franchise's history.
V much agreed. More than the mechanics, matches etc. The lore, backdrop, storytelling, setting alongside themes attract me to a region. That's the beauty of Pokemon game which still attracts one even after childhood
Gamefreak has stopped caring about quality. why would they when anything they put out that has the name Pokémon on it sells like crazy. who cares about all our screaming when they still see us buying it onmass. people who DID boycott it we the minority while everyone else always stupidly goes well maybe they have changed this time. no they didn't and they won't. when will people get it through their heads. the days of good pokemon games is over. the days of gamefreak puting in that little extra effort to make the game more enjoyable are over. gamefreak no longer cares about us. but as someone who boycotted all the recent games and will continue to boycott i still know i won't make a god damn difference
I honestly feel that the more subdued and faded nature of sinnoh works into the very color palete of the game. Compared to all the other ones, sinnoh's color palete is filled with more greys and dulls than any other, representing its connection to age with its very appearance
I love this review so much! We don't often get videos like this that talk about the regions and culture and exploration in Pokemon. It's literally my biggest reason why I play Pokemon games till this day! Sinnoh is my favorite, and you basically worded out my thoughts and experiences with playing D/P/Pt so long ago. Sinnoh is so rich in worldbuilding, and its so worth coming back to!
that connection between Cyrus and Volkner at the end was brilliant! I had never really considered how they're foils of each other, in a way. excellent video all-around on one of my favorite regions
This was an absolute pleasure to watch, thank you. I could listen to people talk about Sinnoh forever, the region, characters and music are all something I'll never forget.
I'm glad videos like this are being made. It shows me than there are other people beside me that also appreciate the atmosphere and consistency of the world-building in games and even hold it in high regard as to how much they can enjoy a title. Thank you.
Making me want to go through my favourite gen once again. It honestly feels like an old friend I haven't talked to in ages, as it's likely been 5+ years since I've played it, but the time I've spent in this gen is paralleled by no other pokemon game, and by almost no other game I've ever played.
even the starters were so good... everything was so good ughgjsdgsksdl can't wait for gen 4 remakes fingers crossed they don't drop any of the elements covered in this amazing video. also idk if anyone else feels this way but i personally loved the ball capsule customization in Sunnyshore, like thats indicative of next-level thinking and bonds with pokemon unparalled in other games... I also vividly miss how awesome it would feel to play Pokemon Battle Revolution and copy over Platinum and gen 4 mons in HD... ugh T.T such good times, can't believe this was for 2008!!!!
One thing I love about this video is how you pointed out Sinnoh’s theme of connection, gratitude, & sentiment. Not only does it connect multiple elements of the game more than the obvious mythology theme, but it better explains Ash & Paul’s rivalry in the anime since they were connected together and gained a better understanding of each other through raising Infernape. It also puts more meaning to Cynthia’s phrase: “When every life, meets another life, something will be born.” Sorry for asking you to do videos of the other regions, but this was still amazing. Excellent job!!
@@inconemay1441 Yeah, the places themselves were cool, I just wish they took their time to structure out the region better and make more seamless transitions, maybe by adding a few more routes.
@@letsgetfluffy3138 ah but apparently players don't have the time to travel that far according to gamefreak. apparently they don't have the time for using their brain either they don't have the time for strategy. why use strategy when you can easily brute force everything.
absolutely man. The sinnoh region reminds me of home and the emotional music compliments the amazing atmosphere - the snow, the forests, the lore. Everything just touches me. I adore the 4th generation and there is so much diversity in the land. I appreciate this video so much man
4th gen is my favourite, probably because A: it was the first pokemon game i played when i was old enough to appreciate it. (I had played 1, 2 and 3 before it, but i was very young at the time and tended to just bash my head into the brick wall in order to progress to the end. I couldn't read when i stole Blue version from my brother and played it through just liking the cool monsters) B: It was incredibly comfy. There's just something soothing about playing through this gen C: It's very similar in a lot of places to the area i live in. Similar climate and appearance (minus the big mountain, though an especially large moor nearby filled that gap in my young mind).
On the point of being too young to appreciate the games: 5 year old me: How do I beat Brock? My attacks aren't doing any damage! Wait, what's 'Vine Whip'? Cool! Go Bulbasaur! From there, I proceed to Body Slam the rest of the game until I lose to Lance's Hyper Beams. That's when I figured out what 'Ice Beam' does. That's how it all went, to my recollection. I wouldn't have traded it for anything.
Greatest triumph of Gen 4: Having more content than SwSh, a game that came out 13 years later. Edit: Props to Gamefreak for listening to their fans and patching the Dex for free.
@@Emil-lf3no they're out of production, that's partially why. Why would the price point for a game longer being produced, be any kind of counterpoint. They were cheaper when they were still being produced.
Platinum is my favorite Pokemon game and you perfectly nailed what is so great about Sinnoh. It's not as flashy or exotic as Hoenn, but despite that, it has a little bit of everything and nothing in it overstays its welcome. It also was the first region to finally bring in snow-based routes, which were long overdue. I also feel like it's paced very well with the towns breaking up the big routes and unlike Hoenn, there aren't tons of samey water routes that blur together. Great video.
For me Sinnoh felt like home. The organic beauty of Sinnoh and the flow of the players journey was always my favorite in Sinnoh. It truly felt like a pokemon journey to me. More than the simplicity of gen 1 and gen 2. This is my journey. The beauty of Sinnoh is something I can’t find the words to explain. It’s a really personal game for me and feels like the most real pokemon adventure.
This video reminded me of not just how much I love Sinnoh, but why. It gives me a feeling of nostalgia that is normally attached to real-life places i hold dear. It seems so real. I feel the same for Sinnoh as I do for my hometown or southern Japan
Damn bro, I was not prepared for an emotional roller coaster today. My love for Sinnoh is reignited by your words and audible passion. Thank you, so so much.
Everytime I watch these videos, my appreciation and love for the regions are awoken again. It's easy to forget these things while not playing the games, but these videos perfectly captures the feeling of going through the worlds and experiencing them.
Man you sure are bringing Christmas early. This is like your 5th video in 2 weeks. And your content is amazing, keep up the good work, youre inspirstional
Thank you so much for this video, I played Pokemon faithfully from gen 1 to gen 4 and I see Gen 4 as the peak of Pokemon and it's lore. Thanks for the amazing content always
I also like how mount Coronet is the centerpiece of the region, both geographically and in terms of the story. It makes the region feel like its connected to itself.
Finally got around to watching this after it was stuck in my bookmarks for 3 days. Amazing video! I totally agree and everything you said, while embellished at times, was backed up by stuff from the game. You really and truthfully captured the aura of Sinnoh. I wish you could do it for Sun and Moon but it’s okay if you don’t!
I've been a die-hard fan since the very beginning with Red and Blue. Sword and Shield are the very first entries in the main series I firmly decided against buying, so I really needed this trip down memory lane to remind me what the series used to be. Even though Sinnoh/Gen 4 wasn't my personal favorite, it's one that I still put an obscene amount of hours into. It introduced online competitive play and changed the landscape of battles for me forever, so it definitely holds a very special place for me. Thanks for the video and making me reevaluate how painstakingly incredible Gen 4 actually was at the time!
Nate That's awesome if you're enjoying the game. I hope you get the most out of it by making new friends and having plenty of fond memories associated with the franschise as a whole to look back on. However, I think I'm still going to pass on Sword and Shield. Like I mentioned in my first comment, online competitive battles is what revolutionized the series for me and became the one aspect that always kept me coming back to the games when all other aspects fell kinda short. Losing the National Dex, having so many of my favorite Pokemon since day one cut out, having some of my favorite moves cut out, radically affects the meta and overall fun of battles. And in general, too much of what I loved about the series was taken away or not included to warrant a buy from me. Maybe that will change later or maybe future installments will give me more of what I want in a Pokemon game, but for now I don't think Sword and Shield are for me.
I always had this love about Sinnoh and that’s why D/P/P are my favourite Pokemon games by far. But I could never quite put in to words what I loved so much about this region. You managed to descripe everything perfectly. Thank you so much for this gem of a video. P.S. I would like to point out how nicely the post game areas tie in as well, with the Battle Frontier, the resort area and catching Heatran in Stark Mountain. Absolutely beautiful!
I’ve always felt gen 4 has had the most bang for its buck. Hgss just have an enormous amount of content between the two regions and d/p/pt being based in the sinnoh region have always had a grandiose feeling about them. Even once the game is completed it always feels like there is somewhere to explore. Sinnoh is the only region that feels like a whole country with lots of unique areas that are worth exploring, I’m glad pearl was my first game and that I got to experience the most dynamic and intriguing region first. Maybe it’s just my nostalgia talking but I feel like gen 4 was when the Pokémon franchise was at its peak aesthetic, art style, game play, story writing and over all vibe; especially in the overworld. Come to think of it as I’m writing this comment I realise the post game in sinnoh, where you unlock access to the island with the survival area, that honestly feels like an entire alolan island.
The pokémon game that got me into pokémon and gave me my nickname. I remember my first ever pokémon being a Chimchar I named Blaze. Sinnoh, imo, has some of the best flavour in the pokemon series, from the cities to the atmosphere to the people and the pokémon introduced. My all time favourite starters too tbh. I love this gen so much. Thank you for putting that love into words
This is the first video of yours that I've seen. and wow, you've completely blown me away and perfectly put into words why I loved Sinnoh so much. Excellent Video.
Thank you so much for this beautiful video!! Sinnoh has always been my favourite region, probably because my first Pokemon game ever was Platinum but it also captures something that I haven't quite seen in any other Pokemon game since, and you really put into words what it really is! The Sinnoh games, for me, also feel like the games that really make you feel as if you're part of a much greater whole. Playing Platinum without any sort of previous knowledge of Pokemon games as I did, I was immediately captured by this sense of eerie mystery that's felt throughout these games, and you come across these little nuggets of culture and history in every location, which explain some things you Would wonder about as a first time player like, "How did we get here? Why do we catch wild Pokemon in the first place?" and you can also slowly piece together the little bits of the overarching lore, but you still never feel like you have quite the full image, and it makes you really wonder how life must have been like before the current time, while at the same time appreciating all these wonderful locations you can experience for what they are today.
Gen 2 & 4 are my favorites because they prioritize organic worldbuilding and let you explore the lore for yourself. No hand-holdy BS. No unskippable cutscene spam.
What a wonderful throwback into the past! 😌 Thank you for taking the time to talk about Sinnoh in such a deep manner, it made it even clearer to me as to why I love this region so much. It’s so true that a game’s atmosphere often “makes it or breaks it”, and the way you related these geographical points to abstract concepts of space, time and more was amazing! Awesome video, Sinnoh will always be a place lost somewhere in the back of my mind. 💕

The storytelling of gen 4 and 5 was soooooo good. It's honestly depressing how Pokémon will never go back to having that level of depth and detail.
So true and sadly some people could care less as long as pokemon is in the name
Diamond and pearl were more visual story telling while black and white were dialog story telling
I'm hoping that sword and shield can at least try to match the quality of Gen 4 or 5
Though gen 7 didn't have a bad story it was just way to hand holdy
And Gen 6 I haven't replayed it since it came out so that says a lot about that game, not a bad game per se but the story wasn't good
@@pralenkaman8105 You could see attempts at a good story in XY, but the game never followed through with the elements it began with.

I hear all of y'all. Put the most hours into gen 3...loved gen 4 lore. Interest started falling off after the 5th gen.
I disagree because gen 5 exists
I love the connections that Sinnoh makes with Johto. It's a call-back to the past while simultaneously foreshadowing the future with Heart Gold & Soul Silver. Generation 4 is honestly the best of the series.
I'd say gen 5 is better personally, but yeah, gen 4 is definitely a close enough second that I can see why you prefer it
Could you elaborate? I played Platinum and HS, and they are my two favorite games in the series but its been 10 years and I cant recall these references. However Sinnoh/Gen4 was also my first introduction to Pokemon, so not having played in Johto before would likely have made any hints go over my head.
Naw I gotta lotta love for gen v cx
Gen 4 is likely what made me love soothing music so much. The feeling I get when I listen to each track is unexplainable. Gen 4 is my favorite atmospheric game out of all of the games.
If Gen 4 is chill hop then Gen 5 is eurobeat. The legendary encounter ost is on my workout music. The snowpoint ost is what I listen to during rainy days and some of those nights of sadness and restlessness.

@@Toasty218 N, Bianca, and many other gen 5 characters would like to have a word with you
I would have to say Gens 3&4 were Pokemon's Peak, while Gen 5 was where the fall started.

I get what you mean. The DP games and series had a melancholic atmosphere.
God I loved this gen.
Funny enough, I really love Pokemon lore, this gen gave off an atmosphere I hardly feel.

As much as I want Sinnoh remakes, I doubt GF's ability to do it justice anymore.

@@bradleycoates6297 okay coomer.
@@kurtislachance9958 Fair, I haven’t played the sinnoh games tho, so this is new information to me
I feel like this also adds reason to why there's a Galactic base in Eterna. Whereas Veilstone is where the villains get the majority of their crew, this base is an attempt to seize and usurp the secrets and history of the old Eterna City.

Ah, a man of culture I see.
Travon Armstrong it’s one of my fav animes, not a lot of people watch it. Kinda sad
Gen 4 is kino.
Looking at it from a Japanese philosophy, it’s wabi-sabi
the original kino's journey was a wonderful and at times horrifying watch very interesting and made you think i mean REALLY THINK. its one of the few philosophical oriented anime i know of and have watched and it really dives into the worlds. the art in it may be a little dated but i would definitely take the original over the 2017 remake any day. having watched the OG years before the remake was made the voice actor change of 2017 was too jarring for me. and in my opinion didn't fit the characters Kino and Hermes as well as the original. the original had more continuity and stories and while kino was and will always be a badass girl the focus was more on the philosophical scenarios each country faced and her experiences with them. it is a wonderful series though it has a much slower pace than the 2017 remake the payoff is much greater and leaves a greater and lasting impact on you. ahh i just realized i went off on a tangent of how much i love the original 2003 kino's journey. but hopefully there will be some you take this to heart and give the original kino's journey a watch and come to enjoy it as much as i did and still do

Snow levels are the best, this cannot be argued. There's a level of comfiness that can only be accomplished through a landscape covered in snow.

Gen 4 is my all time favorite. Waiting for Pokemon DP remakes.
Thanks so much!
Thank you so much for this video, I played Pokemon faithfully from gen 1 to gen 4 and I see Gen 4 as the peak of Pokemon and it's lore. Thanks for the amazing content always
You’re very welcome!
I also like how mount Coronet is the centerpiece of the region, both geographically and in terms of the story. It makes the region feel like its connected to itself.
Pokémon platinum will always be my favourite Pokémon game
It also reminds me of my country Canada, I think that’s one of the reasons I love it so much
Finally got around to watching this after it was stuck in my bookmarks for 3 days. Amazing video! I totally agree and everything you said, while embellished at times, was backed up by stuff from the game. You really and truthfully captured the aura of Sinnoh. I wish you could do it for Sun and Moon but it’s okay if you don’t!
Great Sinnoh analysis! You did a great job of tying of the themes and the geography to show the immaculate world building OF the best region.
Thanks!
Why did I just watch a 40 minute video about a game I have played dozens of times
Gen 4 and 5 where my fav and introduction to Pokémon, good too see I had good taste even back when I was a kid
You're welcome!
My first Pokemon game was X & Y and comparing it to those standards, Sword & Shield is really fun. You're missing out
Nate That's awesome if you're enjoying the game.
Wow I replayed Platinium couple monthes ago.
It is my favorite region so thanks for making such a great video about it :)
You're welcome and thanks for enjoying!
This is the first video of yours that I've seen. and wow, you've completely blown me away and perfectly put into words why I loved Sinnoh so much. Excellent Video.
Thanks!
“A world with no spirit or feeling would be no world at all.”
I can’t imagine the Galar region has many tourists from Sinnoh
Thanks so much for watching!
Gen 2 & 4 are my favorites because they prioritize organic worldbuilding and let you explore the lore for yourself. No hand-holdy BS. No unskippable cutscene spam.
This video is art at its finest. Thanks for making my day, man.
You’re very welcome, delighted you enjoyed!
I just realized it's been 14 years since sinnoh came out, and I felt old
What a wonderful throwback into the past!
Thanks very much! You’re very welcome and I’m glad you enjoyed it so much!
@@Aleczandxr Thank you so much for your reply! I'm so happy :)
My guess is Paul and Cynthia (the best competition) in anime and game (+ the wifi battle era starting).
The final battle with Barry was the real comp imo
Dr. Stone is getting really good
