Detailed Estimation of a Residential Building:
1) to obtain working drawings of a simple 1-2 storeyed RCC framed residential building.
Study the various drawings and record the various items of work as per the sequence of execution and
calculate the quantities of different items of work on measurement sheet. Prepare BBS for
reinforcement calculations.
Prepare a detailed abstract sheet using DSR and calculate the cost of items of works and calculate the
total cost of the project by preparing the general abstract or recapitulation sheet.
The estimate should also be accompanied by detailed specifications of any five items of work.
Calculate the material requirement and rates analysis for these items of work based on prevailing
market rates.

Etabs is best for RCC. But if you want to work in design of Steel structures then TEKLA is best.
