not just that though, all the bleating about no females in space marine or in 40k games is just wrong. its just the game is not about being inclusive, its about a war. about space marines called in to fight the aliens, not about a diverse community - and ironically, the imperium doesnt discriminate against any of its own people. so long as they remain loyal to the emperor and do their assigned roles in society, they are oppressed just the same amount as everyone else is. that is equal representation, imperial style. and because there are no marginalised groups in the imperium (or else you meet some very unpleasant inquisitors) it doesnt need to be shown in space marine 2. if that makes the game woke its been woke for 40 years, but i wouldnt call that woke. i would call it realism. and a fun game that can shrug when they criticise and point to the lore, and then say there isnt any discrimination against humans. even servitors arent discriminated against - mainly because they're lobotomised former criminals. and they dont complain anyway.

some of us are also still years behind on games, when there are no good new games you still have the entire library of games from the 90s and 2000s, a whole bunch of amazing indie titles, and certain games that can drag you along for hundreds and thousands of hours. so finally having a new AAA dev coming out for the gamers is refreshing, and I've been waiting for a new interesting AAA release for a while, but I don't do well with shooters and souls likes, so I will wait until one of my friends get the game(co-op games are something I love regardless of genre), because it still looks good even if it's not my type of game.
A powerful and prophetic message for where the future of gaming is going. Amid massive layoffs across the gaming landscape, developers & publishers are forced to choose between sticking to the woke agenda & continuing to fail, or abandoning the propaganda in favor of sales & success.

He's right about both simplicity and avoiding putting the political agendas in the games. Making overly complex games is annoying. Nobody wants to play games that are as wide as an ocean but as deep as a puddle. Just give us basic mechanics that are satisfying, point us at the bad guys and make it a good time. It's really that easy. You don't need to add crafting, merchants, excessive collectibles, or even multiplayer to get people to buy your game. Make the game for cheaper, charge less, and have a ton of people playing it. Everyone wins.
I really want to get the game and support the devs, especially if they want to make good games. SM2 looks really fun and beautiful. BUT it contains EOS which I don't want on my PC. Thank you for sharing this! I have been wanting to get in the game industry. I used to be excited working for a particular gaming studio however, lately I haven’t been wanting to work for a studio since I’m not excited and what is being pushed. So I’m in the process of building my own gaming studio. Since what is going on in the Industry. It doesn’t make sense to bash gamers, but then begging them to buy their game. The logic doesn’t make sense. Hopefully things can change and get these people that’s causing chaos in the industry.

the reason a game is popular is mostly 'gameplay'.. thats the fun bit, story is usually just enough to string the fun parts together.. this is why game movies are rarely any good as it removes the thing that made it fun in the first place, turns it into a passive experience.. gameplay is what most of us are here for..

No one wants to be lectured on real world stuff when playing videogames. We play videogames, for whatever reason, but the bottom line is escapism.
I would say we play games to space out and enjoy with the bois and not think about real world stuff for a moment
not just that though, all the bleating about no females in space marine or in 40k games is just wrong. its just the game is not about being inclusive, its about a war. about space marines called in to fight the aliens, not about a diverse community - and ironically, the imperium doesnt discriminate against any of its own people. so long as they remain loyal to the emperor and do their assigned roles in society, they are oppressed just the same amount as everyone else is. that is equal representation, imperial style. and because there are no marginalised groups in the imperium (or else you meet some very unpleasant inquisitors) it doesnt need to be shown in space marine 2. if that makes the game woke its been woke for 40 years, but i wouldnt call that woke. i would call it realism. and a fun game that can shrug when they criticise and point to the lore, and then say there isnt any discrimination against humans. even servitors arent discriminated against - mainly because they're lobotomised former criminals. and they dont complain anyway.
Saber Interactive: "Oh look! Truckloads of money!"
Ubisoft: "We don't care about truckloads of money; we have silos full of woke points... BTW we'll trade you 12 silos of woke points for 1 small bucket of money..."
Saber Interactive: "no, can't pay our employees with woke points"
That comment alone probably sold another million copies.
Couldn’t agree more
I honestly miss the old days of gaming. PS2/360 was the best era of gaming. We didn’t have consultancy firms or DEI back then. These people are the REAL grifters because they see how successful the gaming industry is so they have to insert themselves into it even though nobody asked for them.
1990s was the best, that generation you talk about is just refining the gameplay loops discovered in the 1990s, almost all games are based on the loop of a game made in the 1990s or even the 1980s.
@@Rexhunterjtrue. Best games out now like tekken are from the 90’s
@@hands-ongaming7180 98 was peak. Fallout, Baldur's gate, Age of empires, Half life, what a time to be alive back then
then, logically.....they might have fired that community manager that was talking shit.
I read that GW is planning to bring female space marines and custodians to the lore for DEI & ESG reasons
Aren’t female space marines already a thing?
No, they never were. 40k was rettconned entirely after 40k rouge trader which was the 1st edition. 1st edition included all sorts of things that aren't cannon anymore, The Emperor being simply a regular man as one of many dumb things. Bringing this up has been a recent thing and is only "popular" as a tool to drive the community to doubts as to the validity of long established lore. There bing no fem space marines is OLDER as a concept than these things people keep bringing up.

I just hired Sweet Baby Inc to consult my bathroom practises and they said all is fine, its brown and mushy, but refrain from eating too much marshmallows.
Nowadays, and you even said it, companies just want to have more money before they even make the game.
But, when a company says "You know what? I have confidence that my game might be simple, might not be the best of the best, but it will be fun, and you might love it".
Hell, this year the game that most entertained me was Stellar Blade. It might not be the best of the best, but it kept me wanting to come back every day for a month. So, that's important.
I still haven't played Space Marines 2, but I do hope to do some time in the future. You know why? Because it might be fun. Something that some of the biggest companies have forgotten (Except Nintendo, thankfully).
Hail Smash JT :D
Hail, Zan!! And yeah I completely agree!!
Agreed.
Stellar Blade was so good and one of the few games out there that made me start a ng++. I finished it 3 times just to get the extra 2 or 3 outfits for Eve :D
Easy 9/10 for me
Stellar blade was good but black myth wukong was way better
I'm really looking forward to Stellar Blade hitting PC.
And yet they still hired Ashley Cooper as a DEI hire..... And remained quiet when Cooper lied about his role at Sabre. Ashley cooper had Senior writer on space marine 2 in his twitter bio but the end credits revealed he was only an additional writer.
Truth
Wasn't she fired three years ago? I heard she only worked there for a few months.
@@robohorseWOT if he was fired three years ago then why is this dude in the credits?

In addition, she indicated working for another company for at least the past year.
@robohorseWOT why are you referring to him as a "she"?
Not to be a downer, but I want to also point out that the CEO? of Helldivers 2 said similar things, then started stabbing the fans in the back.

Imagine that the Imperium is the one bringing truth to the galaxy. Emperor protects.
But DEI was in space marine 2. The Ultramarines were very diverse in game, which breaks lore. Thats not how gene seed works.
It doesnt break lore. Ultramar is a sub-empire that spans over 500 planets, nuff said.
@@trueomen5017the gene seed makes you look very similar to your primarch down to skin color the salamanders are a prime example of that
Ultramarines Geneseed is well known lore-wise to barely make any physical altercations to the looks of its space Marines Ultramar also spans 500 worlds which has trade routes to the rest of the imperium which will import many different ethnicities.

some of us are also still years behind on games, when there are no good new games you still have the entire library of games from the 90s and 2000s, a whole bunch of amazing indie titles, and certain games that can drag you along for hundreds and thousands of hours.
so finally having a new AAA dev coming out for the gamers is refreshing, and I've been waiting for a new interesting AAA release for a while, but I don't do well with shooters and souls likes, so I will wait until one of my friends get the game(co-op games are something I love regardless of genre), because it still looks good even if it's not my type of game.
Can’t wait to hear this one. Glad I found you.

*ENTIRE GAMING AUDIENCE:* there isn’t really a problem
*CONSULTANTS:* we can fix that for the low low fee of say, 1 billion dollars

It's not even a mandatory service, but it gets installed anyway (some people said it even reinstalls itself). If they remove this, I'd be happy to buy the game even for full price.
EOS?
Let's hope Henry Cavil is able to make his Warhammer show without the influence of Amazon. Amazon already is trying to change the Warhammer universe.
if the CEO or people who work for them start to interact with players through streamers, that means that we don't need Kotaku anymore, not even IGN.

This gives be hope for the kotor remake if he’s also in charge of that
Before the cancer that is social media, I can remember devs often dropping by their forums to discuss games, I miss those simpler times.
I remember when Unreal Tournament was new, you'd see CliffyB and other devs on the servers and in the forums. I'm old.
I remember getting banned from the PC gamer comment section over a decade ago for criticizing them for being too political. It is gods will that they will be shut down soon, and all of their employees will become destitute! It is only a matter of time...
Light at the end of tunnel is in sight? We need people like Saber Interactive CEO to lead the entire gaming sector...
Games for gamers. What a concept. Hopefully gamers will continue voting with their wallets.
The tide is indeed turning.
Which also explains why they are getiing more vicious with their attacks and scrambling to push out their DEI projects as fast as they can.
This is what I like. Fair, balanced, fact based reporting. By a gamer, for gamers. The wheels are turning. The reset approaches, people are waking up and vocalising our displeasure. Follow the money everytime.
He also commented on moists review about it. Game made me remember why I used to play games and looking fwd what they come out with next. I thought I was getting older and that's why I stopped gaming. Everything he commented is spot on why I slowly stopped gaming.
why is no one covering the DEI in GreedFall 2? it's out this week.
Karch and Tim Willits need to be protected.
Insurgency Sandstorm, also known as a PTSD simulator, was developed in collaboration with Focus Entertainment. The gameplay of SM2 represents one of the best comebacks in the hack-and-slash/run-and-gun genre, revitalizing a classic style with refined and modern graphics.

Definitely give this a go. Like one of the reviewers, I know nothing about Warhammer or whatever the franchise is but if the fans are enthusiastic, I want in. Might have to wait for it to go on sale cos I'm poor but that'll be my treat for the month. 🙂
To be fair they could have easily included lgbtv and trans characters in the game.

All hope isn't lost. I wonder what's going on with that KotOR remake Saber has been working on for years now.
"It took 4 and a half years..."
If only the devs for Concord were this based -- they could have made 2 masterpieces in about the time it took to create a flop so massive it left a crater in the gaming landscape.
the reason a game is popular is mostly 'gameplay'.. thats the fun bit, story is usually just enough to string the fun parts together.. this is why game movies are rarely any good as it removes the thing that made it fun in the first place, turns it into a passive experience.. gameplay is what most of us are here for..
It is great to hear that there are still developers that actually believe in making games instead of propaganda pieces. Sabre definitely has my support.
Published by Focus Entertainment. I keep telling people Focus has been publishing some of the best games recently. Both Plague Tale games, Evil West, Banishers, Greedfall, The Surge, Vampyr and now Space Marine 2 just to name a few. Definitely a publisher to keep your eye on.
It’s about time for the game industry to return to form. Gamers today are disenfranchised with AAA games and the industry in general. Make this madness end.
I mean, SM2 STILL has DEI (female Custodes). Just not as much of it.
The bar has really sank so low that we're grateful for games with only a little forced diversity. Even if it is canon breaking (which it is).
Just ignore ALL gaming wokenalists and focus on what the players think, game journos sell review scores and focus on political narrative propaganda. I myself will go and buy SM2 after CEO tweet. I want to support a developer with such passion and understanding of what players want.
