Thanks for this, it helps! I noticed you sometimes use white noise to "simulate" background instruments. Does it help the ears to isolate and focus on the tone without getting confused with the harmony, overtones etc.? I'm really curious. I imagine someone playing a violin under a waterfall :D

Thanks Joël for sharing knowledge, it really helps me getting better with my mixes. I have a question. For trailer cues, Do you think it's worth it to apply just a small compression ( about 1db) on the strings BUS and brass BUS just to glue them together and help them to be more front/ controlled "in your face" or for a trailer track you stick to dynamic Q only for each instruments to control fondamental harmonics?

Awsome ^_^ You're welcome. Well I personally don't do that anymore. I glue things with my master compression and it breathes better this way especially if there are drums in the track.
