We visited Belfast earlier this year, with this song in my head the whole time. We took the political tour of town, including the Catholic and Ulster sides of the "peace" wall. Even with the fragile peace that's been in place, you can see and feel the ever-present tension with the gnawing feeling of how it can break out again at any time. Thank gods for all those who braved the road to peace, including so many musicians.
I got chills with Dolores O´Riordan... always. A hard song, extremely well performed. So deep. Terrorism is very hard. In Spain we had ETA, in Ireland the IRA, for which this song is about... specifically because of the 1993 attack where two small children died.
Another popular song by them would be "Dreams" A band called Bad Wolves done a cover of Zombie. The singer (Dolores O'Riordan) was meant to collab with them but unfortunately passed away. Bad Wolves still released it and all the money raised from it was donated to her kids.
"I'm not here for an emotional video y'all." Wish not granted. The inspiration for this song is a true tragedy, but the song itself is so powerful. Dolores O'Riordan had a truly unique and powerful voice. The world has been a little darker since she died. I'd also suggest Dreams, and Linger by this band.
Northern Ireland. Just went there for the first time a few weeks back. Had a tour of these areas from a local taxi driver. I know the history fairly well but I learned a lot more. This song came to mind during that ride. 'In your head', It's not just about the song. It's about the history.
It's always impressed me how much this song hits home with reactors that know absolutely nothing about the story behind this song. Impactful if you don't know; really stunning once you do.
It is a very heavy and powerful song for sure. A lot of people have emotional reactions to the video. As many will comment, it was written in response and protest to a bombing that killed 2 young boys. I can’t quite give you specifics. But lead singer Dolores O’ Roirdan wrote it herself. She did have an incredibly unique voice and vocal style. Sadly she passed away some years ago in an incident related to her struggle with substance abuse, which I hadn’t known about until after her death. She hailed from Ireland, County Limerick. That much I can tell you. And while most vocalists lose their accent when they sing, her Limerick brogue was ever present. I’d consider her one of the best female singers of the ‘90s and from Ireland, and well worth exploring.
3:07. The Bad Wolfs is what you heard. This is OG Dolores's O'Riordan. As a kid straight banger. As a adult shocking. This was on repeat for months. Still get teary eyed. One of the best singers that men and women ears have never heard. she sadly passed away. But Is a legend as much as female vocalist before her
Dolores O'Riordon & Sinead O'Connor: RIP Queens o' Ireland: duet "No need to argue" ballad in their rich as their green 'Emerald Isle' Irish brogue ac'ents!💚💚
The topic and the meaning of this song cuts close to so many, myself included having family in N.I. who lived through the troubles. Emotional is an understatement
Great reaction! A Pioneer of female led bands is Heart. Ann (vocals) and Nancy (rhythm guitar) Wilson are eye popping for their beauty and talent. “Heart Barricuda - Live 1977” is a great place to start.
This was the first song I learnt on guitar. It’s about the death of 2 children who were in the 1993 Warrington booming by the Irish Republican Army. Such a heavy song that hits the chest.
Dolores was very special. So talented. Shame she's no longer with us. Another two great songs from them are "Dreams" and my personal favourite besides Zombie and Dreams is "So cold in Ireland". Dolores's vocals in it are so haunting and amazing. Also has dope heavy instrumentals. You REALLY need to hear it if you liked this one 🤘
RIP Delores, your voice was soul shaking. Other good songs of them are "Linger" and "Dreams" which aren't as convicting as this one. This song was about The Troubles in Northern Ireland, and The Cranberries are another Irish band like U2. Thank you for sharing your reaction, I am glad you are keeping her music alive!
The Cranberries first hit 'Dreams' charted on the U.S. billboard back in 1993-1994 from their debut album "Everybody Else Is Doing It, So Why Can't We?". They were also huge in Europe and Australia/New Zealand. Their second hit song from the same album was 'Linger'. This song 'Zombie' is from their second album, "No Need to Argue" in 1994. They were the second biggest Irish act behind U2. What is truly missing about Dolores O'Riordan since her passing is her heavy Irish (Limmerick) drogue/accent. Her vocals were so unique and possibly can't be replicated.
This is one of the times where I can easily remember exactly how old I was and where I was and just everything about that profound moment when I heard this song for the first time. I was in 4th grade living in Australia and it changed my life
"Friends" theme song was Cranberries' for '90's TV show. 📺 Dolores O' told 'Monica' she was jealy of her w: Bruce Springsteen, on stage "Dancin' in the Dark" video in '85!
Great song, and such an interesting sound. "Linger" is definitely a good chill song. This song is about the Troubles in Northern Ireland. The IRA was planting explosives in London, and 2 young boys were killed. Dolores wrote this song in response to that event.
It’s hard to watch this music video without getting emotional, especially now that she’s gone. Such a heavy song, but it’s also phenomenal and super important.
I'd suggest you to react to an interesting song that does a recall to "Zombie". The song asks about a deep and existential question, what if Reggaeton was from Norway? 😂 The song is "Norwegian Reggaeton" by Nanowar of Steel
One of the best protest songs ever written. You'll still hear it in Ireland at funerals, protests, rallies, etc... Sadly, this sh*t is still happening there.
Dolores O'Riordan will not RIP! A restless soul, no doubt. Impactful. Ireland and the rest of the world misses her presence. Sad. Great song, though.......wanna shift gears!? Try reacting to Van Halen's, Amsterdam (Naughty version)! Upbeat and a fun video to watch.🤘😎🤘Thank you for posting, Mia.
I am guessing the house version you heard was a remix of the metal cover of this song by the band Bad Wolves. The lead singer of The Cranberries, Dolores O'Riordan, was supposed to be on the song with them but she tragically passed away just before they were supposed to make the song together. The Bad Wolves made the song without her but the music video they made I found to be a very touching tribute to Dolores, they also gave all proceeds from the song to her children. R.I.P Dolores.
Dolores/Cranberries are simply special: -When you’re gone -Linger -Dreams -Ridiculous Thoughts (prolly my fav) … wondering if you’ve gotten the recommendation for Jeff Buckley yet. His voice and cadence is uniquely amazing like Dolores.
Great choice!!! What makes Delores' voice so unique is that is holds it's irish accent which is so unusal as normally singing in english sounds very "american". "Linger" is their other big hit, but there are some gems hidden in their albums.
IF someone didn't note already, the one you note at the beginning about a man singing is the Cover of this original Song that "BadWolves" did. Note, Dolores was planned to sing with BadWolves on the cover but past away the evening before I believe. RIP Dolores We love you..
A lot of what she's doing is called keening.....a vocal lament used in Ireland and other countries to mourn the dead. This was in protest to some children being killed in 94' in the Irish/English conflict....one of the greatest protest songs ever imo. Linger is another great song by them. If you want more girl power bands try Lacuna Coil....Spellbound and Our Truth. And Concrete Blonde gets nowhere near the respect they deserve....Joey is a good place to start.
Full marks for listening to, and appreciating this song, Mia. It is irrelevant whoever else covers this, no-one will be able to put across the raw emotion and utter despair like Delores (In Memoriam). She lived through 'The Troubles', Irish partition and Ulster sectarianism, and is uniquely qualified to expound on the subject.
What a legend she is. Dolores had so many layer and ups and downs and do your own research. Such a beautiful and strong voice. Love her other works with the Cranberries and hope to see more on channel , cheers and regards!
pretty much every song from - The Faithful Departed - album deserves a reaction video. but I'd highlight: When you're gone - Salvation - Hollywood - Forever Yellow skies. From her solo albums i'd recommend - Human spirit - when we were young- and - Ordinary day.
No worries about however this song hits you - if you don't have an emotional reaction to 'Zombie' you're probably dead inside anyway! Irish people went through a lot in the 70s and 80s and they really have a talent for expressing grief and frustration musically...
There is Nothing better than a emotional song that Moves you that’s what makes Music so Good especially when it reminds you of a certain time of your life React to Linger from them Great Song probably the biggest hit from them
The Cranberries: Linger, Dreams. Also listen to Natalie Merchant from the group, 10,000 Maniacs; What's the Matter Here & Candy Everybody Want. You'll like her voice.
The cranberries are pretty awesome. I'm glad you reached to them. You should really continue the women's revolution in music. Check out In This Moment - Big Bad Wolf
Dolores had one of the most iconic voices of her generation. RIP. This song and album are so beautiful and emotional. The song Pisces you say is by Jinjer. If you want more iconic and absolutely talented female singer I recommend 2 of my favorites: Sinead O'Connor, song "Nothing Compares 2 U" and Beth Gibbons with her band Portishead, song "All Mine. Just 2 songs I love but they are so wonderful.
Bad wolves are the ones that covered this song and Delores was supposed to be on it but she passed away the day they were supposed to make the video but they went on anyways and made the video in remembrance of her
Such a good band. Great classic, should've been in zombie films, we all would like to know what's in their head. I suggest these Gunship songs: The Mountain, Monster In Paradise, Doom Dance, and Blood For The Blood God.
I just happened to listen to this song a few weeks ago. It hits different when you understand what it's about. Dolores was very distraught at some bombings that had taken place and I believe she wrote this one on her own. It's a very powerful song and the video highlights it very well
Bad wolves did a cover of this song. And the vocalist is male. That maybe the version you are thinking of. Delores was supposed to be in the video they did for it. But sadly she passed away. She had such a beautifully unique voice.
was born1976 and i know and love this song my whole life!;)i am a little bit jealouse of u....for beeing new to this song!:):) love ur reaction!u r such a cutie!;)
Just a heads up: Most rock songs of the past are addressing REAL life events and stories of the world we live in. Emotionally music is a healer when confronting the topics head on for both artist and listener and also a way to protest and bring light to these sad worldly issues. Unlike music today, there are things in life beyond tits and ass, a good time and grabbing the bag... That sh*t has made people soft today.
Bad Wolves was probably who you sampled and it’s a hard rock banger but Cranberries were the OG’s. They also sing Dreams and Linger which you may recognize because it’s played on a lot of IG reels. Ode to my Family is one of my favs.
The history behind this might be a little confusing but remember - Great Britain is comprised of England, Scotland, Wales & Northern Ireland. So specifically - Northern Ireland is ruled by the British - even though it is a part of the same island that makes up the separate country of Ireland. The fact that the British are primarily Protestants and the Irish are Catholics only adds to the historical animosity between the two peoples. Many Irish living in Northern Ireland under the control of the British government were resentful of the British authorities and wished to be a part of Ireland itself. So in recent history - mostly the 1970s and the '80's - there were skirmishes between British soldiers and Irish nationalists in Northern Ireland. The images you see in this video are of British soldiers patrolling parts of Northern Ireland to maintain law and order. Others here have mentioned that this song is about a specific tragedy that occurred where children were killed. The good news is that the two groups have found a way to maintain peace for most of the last 30 years - which is why i thought you might not be familiar with the specific history being referenced here. Thanks for posting your reaction - i'm enjoying them.
Love this song, 1 of my favorites. Top 3. I've only found 2 covers i liked too, every other cover fails miserably. If anyone wants the names of the people covering i can list 'em.
Awe Mia, I just saw this. Sorry so late. It slipped through. Dropping this, and all the likes I can, cuz Good Guys still exist!! And what kinda guy…? Um ok, bad example! Just cuz I’ve started really going through some idiotic comments. I love ACDC, and here just to support ya! So you pick ‘em, and I got your back! And that GIGANTIC .. smile, is just a bonus!🌹🎸🎸🎸
I'm finding it amusing how you keep commenting how you really don't like "slower" songs, then when you react to them you really like them. Which is good, because the songs people are recommending to you are really good songs.

If you want female and a banger (not an emotional song)... "Evolve" by The Warning (live at the 2023 mtv vma's). You will definitely ROCK to that.
the bombings happened on 30 March 1993, as two IRA improvised explosive devices hidden in litter bins were detonated in a shopping street in Warrington, England. Two people; Johnathan Ball, aged 3, and Tim Parry, aged 12, were killed in the attack. 56 people were injured. Ball died at the scene of the bombing as a result of his shrapnel-inflicted injuries, and five days later, Parry lost his life in a hospital as a result of head injuries. O'Riordan decided to write a song that reflected upon the event and the children's deaths after visiting the town: hence the line in the song a child is slowly taken.
YESSS. Was hoping you'd do this song. She's one of the best voices in rock. Although, this is their heaviest song, their a very soft indy rock band from the 90's. I'd still definitely recommend you listen to Something like Dreams, or Ode to my family. Her voice is mesmerizing. Irish queen.
She passed away in 2018, but she left behind a timeless masterpiece. What an angelic voice.
"Dreams" is my favorite song of hers. It displays her voice the best.
"Linger" and "Ode To My Family" are great The Cranberries songs too.
Ode to my family! Well, anything Cranberries 😊
We visited Belfast earlier this year, with this song in my head the whole time. We took the political tour of town, including the Catholic and Ulster sides of the "peace" wall. Thank gods for all those who braved the road to peace, including so many musicians.
This is one of my favorite songs of all time. Thanks for doing it, and keep going, because you're kicking ass!
She is 'keening' which is singing in a high pitch tone to wail in grief to mourn the dead.
I got chills with Dolores O´Riordan... always. A hard song, extremely well performed. So deep. Terrorism is very hard. In Spain we had ETA, in Ireland the IRA, for which this song is about... specifically because of the 1993 attack where two small children died.

A band called Bad Wolves done a cover of Zombie. The singer (Dolores O'Riordan) was meant to collab with them but unfortunately passed away. Bad Wolves still released it and all the money raised from it was donated to her kids.
I think the Bad Wolves version is quite terrible though. May as well avoid it altogether.
"The Troubles" were a lot more than an emotional time.

Some say she’s from Ireland, I say she came from heaven only to return there too soon. R.I.P. Dolores.
It's always impressed me how much this song hits home with reactors that know absolutely nothing about the story behind this song. Impactful if you don't know; really stunning once you do.
Her voice is one of a kind. “Linger” is probably my next favorite by The Cranberries.

Emotional is an understatement
I spose its artistic acts that highlight the human side and effect of regional violence and unrest on people

"Cranberries - Promises" you must check out too. One of my favorite songs of them. RIP Dolores O'Riordan.
A true voice of historical trauma, pain and it's all laid bare in that sound. Amazing song that captures real, raw emotion. Great reaction. R.I.P.
This song is so amazing... Her voice is so beautiful! RIP

Thank you - Delores was incredible ❤️
She has a angelic voice
Those were real British soldiers on patrol in Northern Ireland. This was during The Troubles. This is a protest song.
“Linger” and “Dreams” are absolutely up your alley!! Not anywhere as bleak as Zombie lol
R.I.P. Dolores O'Riordan.
I'd suggest you to react to an interesting song that does a recall to "Zombie".

She lived through 'The Troubles', Irish partition and Ulster sectarianism, and is uniquely qualified to expound on the subject.
She did not live through Irish partition lol
Wow I can’t believe it’s been 30 years since this song came out. Staple of the 90’s. Yeah us Cancers can get a little emotional, 7-11 my Bday
Definitely check out the songs “Linger” and “Dreams” by the cranberries.
"Ode To My Family" and "Dreams" are my favorites from The Cranberries. R.I.P. Dolores O'Riordan.
Eminem sampled this song in his song titled “In Your Head”🔥(RIP Delores)

She was absolutely a great singer and songwriter. Unfortunately she passed away a few years ago. RIP

Dolores had one of the most iconic voices of her generation. RIP. This song and album are so beautiful and emotional. The song Pisces you say is by Jinjer. There was a very nice rendition of this song by Daria Stavrovich on The Voice of Russia from 2016.

Cranberries Linger or Ode to my Family is their best song.

If you want female and a banger (not an emotional song)... "Evolve" by The Warning (live at the 2023 mtv vma's). You will definitely ROCK to that.
dolores o'riordan was an amazing talent. great song. thanks for reacting to it
This is becoming my favorite reaction channel young lady.
the bombings happened on 30 March 1993, as two IRA improvised explosive devices hidden in litter bins were detonated in a shopping street in Warrington, England.
Please check out The Cranberries songs "Dreams" - "Linger" - "Ode to my Family" - "Daffodil Lament"
She have this song live, also sound amazing
Other great songs by The Cranberries are Dreams and Linger. You'll like them both.
halloween!!! you're almost 2 weeks behind on posting, lol
You need to check out "Just a Girl" from No Doubt. Another great female rock vocalist.
