The ancient Nords sound so hardcore and absolutely terrifying. The Thu'um is no fucking joke. "We can speak to move the earth beneath your feet and raise the dead and sing to alter the course of fate and whisper to the sky to make it rain acid." And then you get to Skyrim and it's just kind of a letdown lol.

@@rowansidhe3239 There is nothing that suggests magic is waning. But perhaps in Varieties of Faith, where it says "What is left of him (Magnus) on the world is felt and controlled by mortals as magic." Possibly implying there's a fixed amount. But that's reaching and most likely just semantics. Other sources would imply that the holes left by Magnus, and the Magna Ge, allow aetherius to continue to pour into our realm of Mundus. The largest reasons things have become less fantastical is magical arts being lost to time due to there being less need and lazy development by Bethesda.

Well, perhaps the Ehlnofey yes, but Altmer were around at this time, and this is after the Falmer have been mercilessly wiped out, and around/after the Allesian Rebellion, so it makes sense that they're not like their Atmoran ancestors, nor are the Mer of this time as ancient as their Aldmer ancestors.
And given the age at which this guy died, that doesn't sound anymore impressive than the average Bosmer, much less Altmer. Magicka also plays a part in lifespans as well, and the Ancient Nords, even with their Clever Men, aren't as magically adept or attuned as the Mer at the time.
And if old humans were the same, then how come the other Nedes or Imperials or Redguards are all the same? They didn't have any beef of gods like Alduin and Orky, so they'd be as old as Mer according to you.
Of course, you may be completely right in this instance, I'm just sharing my understanding of the situation.

I interpreted Barg's power as having achieved CHIM and Vivec was able to defeat him in debate. He would be able to change himself or the world around him if he was sure of himself. I felt that was a poetic way for Vivec to state that he did achieve CHIM without putting Barg at the same level as himself. As for the debate, I interpreted that part as Vivec being able to debate him into essentially questioning himself, causing him to zero-sum himself from existence. This is purely speculation, as are most arguments diving into lore that is this obscure, but given the muddy stories that come from Vivec, it seems plausible. It's a very literal, yet poetically cryptic, description of Barg's abilities

She could also be a different type of Vampire Lord. Many different strains of vampirism lead to different traits, but they could also share traits too. Maybe hers involves growing wings but she's not a Vampire Lord as we know them in ES5.

The Ehlnofey, that were descendants of the original Et'ada that helped to create Mundus, split into two separate factions, the Old Ehlnofey and the Wandering Ehlnofey. Depending on the source you read, there was a war between the two groups. The Old Ehlnofey won causing the Wandering Ehlnofey to be cast out from The Summerset Isles, hence the name Wandering.
The Old Ehlnofey became the Aldmer.
The Aldmer split and became the modern Altmer, the Chimer, and the Bosmer. The Chimer were cursed by Azura and became the Dunmer. The modern Altmer are the most similar to the original Aldmer and therefore also the most similar to the Old Ehlnofey.
The Wandering Ehlnofey are the ancestors of men, including the Atmorans, Nedes, Nords, Imperials, Etc.
Therefore all men and elves are descendants of the Ehlnofey.
This is a very succinct explanation, and you would be better informed by listening to more FudgeMuppet videos on the topic, or going read the lore pages online.

@@simonsundy518 Yes the Old and Wandering Ehlnofey became the two species, the Elves and Humans respectively. The Old Ehlnofey didn't win, the Wandering Ehlnofey won because they were tougher than the Old. The Aldmer were the first Elven race and progenitors of the various Elven races like you mentioned and the Atmorans were one of the first Human races and one of the two progenitors of the various Human races except the Redguards and Tsaesci. For the first nord I think he is a shaman and can tap into the power of nirn. It is similar to what the wyrd sisters do in ESO.
The second nord might be a daedric worshipper. Maybe Namira or Peyrite(can't remember the spelling right now).
The third guy is hard to say, but maybe he was poisoned during a meeting with vivec.
The fourth nord sounds like she might have been using elven armor, which commonly had wings on them aesthetically. As for her powers it is hard to say. She could have been a skaald though, or battle poet.

I think Barg was basically just an Illusionist (albeit really damn powerful). “Two-Tongued” obviously implies ‘Deceitful’- like ‘double speak’, etc. The “power of ‘surety’” sounds odd, but I think the intent is “power *over* ‘surety’”- not his own surety, but others’. He uses Illusions to disrupt their perception- they become ‘unsure’ of what is real. “His armies were small, but [powerful].”- sounds like the ‘Courage’/‘Embolden’/whatever it’s called magic effect. ‘Transforming’ himself into big scary monsters sounds like the result of a Mass Fear effect or similar.
As for Vivec “debating” him, say Barg tried to ‘deceive’ Vivec, but Vivec was all smart, so he countered with a big brain philosophical argument (I like to imagine Vivec on TH-cam like “‘Two-Tongue’ EXPOSED! Barg DEBUNKED by REAL DEITY with FACTS and LOGIC! #BargIsCancelledParty #NordGate #Vivec2020”, but that’s just me...)- in layman’s terms... Vivec was too high-level for Barg’s Illusion spell... rookie mistake, Barg- you should always dual-cast...
Less clear cut, though certainly plausible is that the reason for Almalexia being invisible was to avoid the risk of Barg potentially turning her and Vivec against each other (a la the classic ‘hide in the bushes, cast Frenzy on Bandit Leader, point, laugh’ trick)- I mean, think about it, the Tribunal aren’t exactly opposed to stabbing their friends in the back if it’s convenient (#JusticeForNerevar)... plus Almalexia was a bit of a crazy ass bitch (ask Sotha Sil, oh wait- you can’t, because, yeah...).
So, it’s not much of a stretch to say that combining some ‘encouragement’ from a Master Illusionist, hundreds of years of unresolved ‘issues’, misc. psychotic tendencies, and a complete lack of empathy/loyalty/compassion/etc. is *very* probably going to result in a slight... ‘domestic disturbance’... which is *not* something you want from your leaders in the middle of a war... especially when it’s between two literal gods... That could prove to be well and truly catastrophic...
Wait... Was Barg the only one who personally fought Vivec- or any of the Tribunal for that matter..? Maybe not, but regardless, that particular fight seemed very heavily emphasized. Even when considered from an in-universe perspective as an undoubtedly ‘skewed’ version of history as told by Vivec, it clearly receives special attention. It seems Vivec himself is implicitly acknowledging it as especially noteworthy. But why? Could be any number of reasons. Could be nothing.
    OR...
Maybe... and this is total speculation, here- but *maybe* the ‘Demon Chiefs’ had a similar idea. Remember, Nords aren’t *completely* batshit insane berserker rage monsters. Some, at least, (Ysgramor, Tiger Septim, et al) were pretty damn smart. Not just in military matters (recall that Ysgramor apparently *invented writing* - how the hell a society achieved sufficient mastery of mathematics, engineering, navigation, etc to successfully transport people en masse across a fairly sizable ocean without a system of writing...? Uh... video games...). The Demon Chiefs probably realized that, despite their undeniable Nordic badassery, and even if their opponents were just some poncy elves, the fact that they had *3* living gods on their side could complicate things rather significantly.
While of course, no true son of Mighty Talos would ever, *ever* openly admit such a thing, privately, their leaders may have acknowledged that when you’re in a war against gods, perhaps discretion is indeed the better part of valor. As any military leader worth their salt knows, the best way to conquer a fortress- literal or metaphorical- is from the inside. On a macro and micro level, there is no greater threat to a unit’s combat effectiveness than internal strife. I don’t think Sun Tzu exists in TES Universe, but the principal still applies: “Supreme excellence in war consists of winning without fighting.” Good commanders defeat their enemies; *great* commanders make their enemies defeat themselves.
So, how do you fight fire? Well, with water, actually, but proverbially “with fire”. Likewise, how do you fight a god- much less 3 gods? Ideally, you don’t. You make them fight each other. Even if they don’t straight up kill each other, finishing off the last one standing is relatively simple. Maybe the Nords’ plan was for a small, elite force (ref. Barg’s “small but powerful” army. Why put Barg in charge of the ‘small’ army? If anything, it would make sense for him to lead the largest army to maximize the advantage of his presumed Illusion buffs. But hey- details.) to move ahead of the main forces and, using Barg’s Illusionary powers, eliminate, or at least compromise/weaken, the Tribunal- a classic decapitation maneuver. Cut off the head of the snake, and all that.
I know the video wasn’t necessarily chronological, but I think it at least implied that Barg not only directly confronted Vivec, but that he did so relatively early in the war, as if he was specifically targeting the Tribunal- or the exact opposite, the Tribunal (Vivec and Almalexia, at least- Sotha Sil was probably busy reading a book or something- NERD...) might’ve specifically targeted Barg. Which would strongly imply that, whether or not they were aware of his plan- or if there even was a plan- they considered him the single greatest threat, else why would 2 of the 3 (even though Almalexia apparently did nothing in the fight...) personally go after *1* of the 5, not even the (all-around) most powerful of the 5, especially considering that any 1 of the Tribunal should’ve been more than a match for any of the Demon Chiefs, since, you know, ‘gods’...
Regardless of the details, for some reason, even in the middle of a war, apparently, the Tribunal had a peculiar fixation with this 1 specific person- who wasn’t even the enemy ‘leader’ or ‘champion’ per se, at most he was 1 of 4 sub-commanders, and he commanded the *smallest* force- who, above all others, they really, *really* did not want to exist.
Like I said, pure speculation, and fuzzy on details, but overall, I’d say it’s a plausible and interesting theory: Whether or not The Nords were even aware of it, Barg may have (at the time) been the 1 person who had a very real chance of destroying the Tribunal. Reminder: don’t underestimate Illusion, kids.
Now that would definitely make for a great “What if..?” video.
“What if The ‘Demon Chieftains’ successfully defeated the Tribunal and conquered Morrowind?”
In fact, what if they actually did come much closer to succeeding than anyone- except the Tribunal- would ever realize..?
It would explain why even Vivec himself called them “Demons”... usually, that’s a title reserved only for those you both really, *really* hate... and Fear...
Or maybe Vivec is just awesome at writing TES fanfics.
EDIT: Oh wait, they *all* fought Vivec, and other things that totally invalidate that whole theory. Hm. Maybe I should’ve watched the video more than once. Derp. So much for that. I think I just really get a kick out of casting Frenzy and getting the Tribunal to kill each other. Ha. Oh well. Better than sitting at work staring at the wall. Seriously, fuck that wall. It’s probably the worst wall in history. Trust me, I’ve spent a long time staring at the damn thing.

After killing almalexia and hircine, soul trapping them with Azuras star so I could use their souls for my gear, I’d go out of my way to kill vivec purely to have another armor enchanted with the soul of a god. I never knew how to feel about the tribunal, they betrayed nerevarine so they could become gods but it was also hard for me to say if that was pure greed or if they actually thought they were helping their people. However, after almalexia went mad, after finding out about sotha sil’s arrogance towards the gods who aided him, and just how much of a creep vivec was, I can honestly say their souls and power were put to better use powering my armor. Although now I want to do a play through where I seal their souls to something more… fitting. Like a dildo and a douche.

I imagine the Dunmer would associate mud and necromancy with an invading force of “uncivilized Nords”, if that makes any sense. We know the Dunmer venerate their ancestors and are strongly opposed to necromancy, so associating the Nords with this magic is likely an attempt to slander them, encouraging pious Dunmer to rise up against them. Also, I imagine the civilized Dunmer would look down on a the dirty Nords. They probably associated dirt and mud with impurity. Also Baflok and Vivek might have become lovers, so she was defeated because she fell in love.

when your voice is so powerful, even a whisper would destroy cities and a cry entire worlds.
So your enemy takes away your voice and turns it into sick headphones and keeps blasting his stupid mixtape at you.
No wonder Ysmir was driven away.

The Dragons did not want to deal with the rulings of a kingdom. So they chose loyal followers. Why would you teach your loyal followers a way to defeat you, from a narcissistic dragon perspective?

15:20 the woman. I dont think the maiden of plains. I think it's more literal as in the plains of skyrim. And what else can I spear be licked with but blood. So her bloody spear as she ruled the plains. And more then likely she has some sort of thuum to give her wings

Its not hard to turn Vivecs hyperbolic verses to the likely more mundane actuality. Such as devouring the land and raising the dead, could be understood as farming and high birth rate. Sending the souls of the devoured, need not be ghost but assailants wearing the armor of the slain to get closer to their target. Singing the outcome is likely more rallying speeches, to which he sexually assaulted her, dishonoring her before her warriors. Her wings may be more like the winged hussars. And the king that can't speak, well a similar thing was believed about the emperor of Japan.
Both vivec and the nords themselves are extremely hyperbolic, exaggerating every claim to extremes. And though its fun to think if the wonderful sights of voices lifting towns and throwing them in the sea... its more likely that they were simply razed and resettled by nords.
    Fun stuff.

9:30 “Changing the heart of those he has consumed.... turning them into hateful spirits”
Heartstones from Solstheim, anyone? Perhaps the “consumed” and “spirits” parts are more figurative, and all this guy did was use Heartstones to resurrect his fallen foes....
