Daggerfall already took place in high rock (part of it) we got a whole game based on Breton stuff and partly hammerfell with Daggerfall too. Bretons are pretty boring Redguards have much more interesting lore so I’m fine with hammerfell.

I'm so glad Drew pointed out that the Shehai doesn't need to be in a form of a sword. That detail is always overlooked by others and why it absolutely can be incorporated as a mechanic in TES6, similar to how the Thu'um was added.

If the next Elder Scrolls game does take place in Hammerfell, I hope we see and hear snippets of the Redguards' original language, which I imagine would be something like one of the Oriental or Indochinese languages. In fact, I think each race should have lines in its own native tongue, to give it greater distinction from the Imperial standard we hear everywhere at present.
I'd say each race's speech should be 95% Imperial standard of ease of play with bits of their native languages sprinkled throughout that would be heard from the more isolated portions of the population or from individuals who conduct official business. I've thought about this quite a bit and have come up with a name for the mother tongue of each living, presumed living and dead race aside from those we know for certain are still in use:
    Angerthas (An-ger-thass, Atmoran, dead)
    Bazhad (Bah-zahd, Dwemer, dead)
Brarjeld (Brar-yelled, Nord, living; similar to Norwegian, Swedish or Danish)
Clavat (Clah-vaht, Dunmer, living; derivative of Tolkien's elves)
Cyrod (Sear-uhd, Imperial, living; English, lingua franca)
Eladrin (El-ah-drin, Altmer, living; similar to Tolkien's elves)
    Espruar (Es-prew-are, Maormer, presumed living)
Garamond (Gah-ruh-mund, Breton, living; similar to a French)
    Giedi (Gay-dee, Lilmothiit, dead)
Hyliran (Hill-ear-ahn, Reachmen, living; similar to Irish or Scottish Gaelic)
    Iokharic (Yo-caw-rick, Sload, presumed living)
    Kothr (Koh-ther, Kothringi, dead)
Malac (Mah-lack, Orsimer, living; similar to Tolkien's orcs)
    Rashela (Rah-sheh-lah, Nal, presumed living)
Shitaro (She-tah-roh, Redguard, living; similar to Japanese, Chinese or Korean)
    Sigali (See-gah-lee, Tsaesci, presumed living)
    Tengwar (Ten-guar, Mobaru, presumed living)
Valmar (Vahl-mahr, Bosmer, living; derivative of Tolkien's elves)
    Yoku (Yo-koo, Yokuda, dead)

I feel like they focus on humanoid races because the big world ending conflict is mostly between man and mer isn't it? I'm a little rusty in my lore knowledge but isn't the altmers goal (or the thalmor at least) to essentially destroy mundus to rebirth it with just elves?

    • @ajh8566
      @ajh8566 ปีที่แล้ว +1

@Studious Pupil The Altmer in Skyrim want to undo the world and return to their Etherial form. To become one with their Gods again. While the protagonist is virtually a God. And in the Nordic Pantheon, the villain is literally a God. I can't relate to that kind of power trip. Even when Partysnacks explains the dovahs way of thinking, it feels so foreign.
In Oblivion, Mankar wants Mehrunes to undo the trap that is mortal plain. While the Blades, mostly if not completely consistent of men want to save Mundus. But there is no indication of the thalmor plot in that game.
Morrowind has a totally different feel than that. You relate to the villains. You can see why the living Gods would want to retain their power. They're also better rulers than the 3 good Daedra. You can see why Dagoth is trying to poison Morrowind with the blight. Where as I can't relate with the Thalmor, or as I call them, The Third Reich. And I can't relate to Mankar summoning the hordes of Mehrunes to undo Lorkan's trick.
To summarize, the writing for the villains is leagues beyond what we've been given in the past two mainline titles.

A few weeks back I asked "Why do I keep watching videos when I haven't played Skyrim in 5 years?" in one of the videos for this channel. (actually closer to 7 years as I discovered by my save files)
Well, the answer to this has since been demonstrated to me in the most pragmatic way possible. I decided to load up the original Skyrim on my Steam Deck for testing, only official patches and DLC. I have seen old school Skyrim on so much hardware over the years, it made more sense to use original Skyrim. I figured that I would mess around for a little, uses coc to go to a bunch of locations to see the performance in different environments (with particular attention paid to Markarth) and stop. With the additional reasoning of "Skyrim without mods is Skyrim without fun". Reasoning that I suspect many people would agree with.
I am now 160 hours into what has become my de jure ultimate playthrough of original Skyrim. After 130 hours I finally did add 3 mods to the game. One that allows me to use a 50 hour custom soundtrack that I spent a ton of time putting together back in the day and still had all the stuff for. One that makes the ore veins more prominent. Finally, world map with roads. As far as modding goes, this is essentially still unmodded. If (more like when) I start another playthrough of the game, I find it hard to believe I will do it with the original game.
I am astonished at how much I still like playing OGV Skyrim after all these years and the bazillion mods I have used. Not to mention the fact that objectively better versions of the vanilla game exist today. I literally played the game for around 35 hours straight after "Hey, you're awake..." was first uttered. Only stopping for food breaks and whatnot. That time flew by. The 100+ hours since then have also gone by like they were nothing.
Fun fact: 24 hours @ 60fps is ~5.2 million frames. That first session registered ~7.9 million frames. I forget the exact amount of time played during that first session since reloading is a thing. But when I did the math the next day ("day"), I averaged a framerate of ~55 (capped at 60) across the board. I.e. including such things as loading screens and whatnot. I was expecting a slightly lower average, maybe 45-50. Due to the game being from a very different generation in terms of what hardware they had in mind when developing the game. I was pleasantly surprised that the Steam Deck managed that high of an average.
So yeah, demonstrated in the most pragmatic way possible. This has also caused me to reevaluate my opinion of this game in its unmodded form. I honestly thought that at most, I would get sick of it after a few hours. No matter how I try, 160+ hours cannot be defined as "few" in this context. It has also been interesting to play the game via gamepad. Playing it both using just the Steam Deck in-and-of-itself, as well as utilizing its dock to hook up a controller. Keyboard & mouse is still the way to go imo, but it does play surprisingly well with a gamepad. caveat: I may prefer keyboard & mouse for most things, but I do not ignore controllers and use them often on PC. So this isn't some gamepad hater having an epiphany or something. Merely a tidbit worthy of including here at the end.

I am hyped for the TES6 to take place in Hammerfell. I am in the camp that also wants High Rock and the Illiac Bay. I believe the first half of the game shpuld be focused on Hammerfell and have the player character be the avatar of Ebonarm. Where the player character must bring together different factions to fight the Aldmeri Dominion at the Isle of Balfiera and defeat the champion of the Thalmor who mantled Trinimac. I believe we would all get the most out of a game that is heavy centric on Hammerfell and the Redguard culture. This goes to my next theory of the Shehai and the Sword Singers. Though it declined and became almost extinct practice by the Fourth Era, it is also stated that Shehai could materialize to a practitioner in times of great stress. This sort of stress could be through war or near death experience which our Prisoner typically goes through at the beginning of each installment. To how this mechanic could play out in a game. It would need to be vastly different than any Bound Sword and would still need to be compatible to physical weapons you gain through the game. I imagine this could be a special magic subclass to cast a special attack with delay between them. Similar to the shout system but almost more like... Thinking on the fly here, like a special move from Destiny 2. A big attack that could devastate a battlefield or encampment. To destroy a foe in a single move. This would probably eliminate Kill Moves from TES6 in order to have some sort of balance. I imagine not all sword strokes could be learned, by end game, similar to the Nerevarine of TES4. You would amass a bunch of artifacts and spells to be a walking god. The ebony armor of Ebonarm wield the Shehai to rally the Western forces against the Aldmeri Dominion. What a grand and intoxicating notion.

Todd Howard said many years ago that if he spoke about what they had in mind for TES6 one would ask "we don't even have that kind of technology yet" or something like it, so I've been thinking that we'll possibly have a piece of ocean on the map.
A large underwater area was cut from Fallout 4, and before Skyrim we got to experience some anchorhead winter battle simulator thingy in Fallout 3. So at least we know they've been playing around with watery environments.
The difficult tech thing could be implementing ships and sinking ship physics. Maybe even a dwemer submarine or underwater structure?
Edit: or the complex tech could be seasons changing? Hammerfell is a very desert-y land and it would kinda suck to only have sand to play in.
Edit 2: oooooor maybe TES6 has parts of Hammerfell's surrounding provinces in it aswell? Maybe we'll get to see Orsinium? Anvil? Kvatch? Wayrest?

I always wondered if Yokuda was truly sunk. Perhaps it was "sunk" by the bloodshed, almost like the "sundering" of Alinor. Perhaps yokuda still exists, weary of war and glad and the departure of the sword singers, they became isolationist artists or something of the like. Also, I feel like ES6 might be more than one region. I honestly thought and still kinda do think that it will entail the entirety of the western coast of tamriel. Hammerfell, High Rock, and even Valenwood to an extent. Perhaps sailing will be a large part of the game, letting you sail to Stros M'Kai or even the coast of Summerset

  • @anthonyKolesov

Appears from nowhere, smashes elves into dust, refuses to elaborate, and moves on. Do I speak of Diagna or Pelinal Whitestrake?... I don't think there is any direct support in the lore for the idea that Diagna was Shezarrine, but his story looks like one to me. So then HoonDing is Shor? HoonDing appears every time he needs to "make way" for his people, and Shor, a God of Men, created a world for his people, i.e. men (presumably at the expense of mer or at least Altmer think of it this way). It seems to me that either HoonDing is Shor, or HoonDing is Shor of the previous kalpa, if one subscribes to the idea that Yokuda was in the previous kalpa. Or perhaps both are two different avatars of one god?
But wait, what about Sep, who is officially supposed to be Lorkhan? It is a pure insinuation on my side, but I wonder if the Warrior God of Men (HoonDing, Shor) is different from the Trickster God associated with Sep. What if Creator/Lorkhan is a kind of an oversoul that consists of Warrior/Shor/HoonDing and Trickster/Sep/Lorkhan, and perhaps of someone else? There is a hint at this in that Talos mantled Lorkhan by way of merging the souls - Warrior/Wulfharth, Wiseman/Zurin Arctus, Trickster/Hjalti (at least it seems to me that the only personal achievement Hjalti ever had was using and betraying others to become Emperor first and then a God). Interesting - who, should be the Wiseman God of the Creator oversoul - Magnus, Auri-El, someone else? If it is either Magnus or Auri-El, then it looks the Trickster managed to trick other undersouls of the Creator into loosing power, Warrior decided to cherish this opportunity, Wiseman was pissed of, and now everyone is at odds with each other and they pretend that they are not the one oversoul.

  • @billdavis2590
    @billdavis2590 ปีที่แล้ว +6

I’m expecting a plot twist where one major faction of Redguards sides with the Aldmeri Dominion. Unlike all other races of men Yokudans were fundamentally Anuic, not Padomaeic. They see this world as a punishment from Ruptga and a failure of Sep. The Thalmor’s goals with the Adamantine Tower should be absolutely in line with Tall Papa’s command that they find a new way to the Far Shores, and I think they could get over recent issues with the Aldmeri, but the question of how to deal with worship of HoonDing is trickier as there are parallels with Pelinal/Talos. So I’d expect the Crowns to outlaw Swordsinging like the last Yokudan Emperor, along with any Padomeic/Lorkhanic tendencies in Hammerfell; and for them to join league with the Anuic Aldmeri to escape reality. These events would precipitate a Stormcloakesque civil war that drives the Forebears into the Lorkhan faction with the Bretons, Nords, and Imperials (and perhaps an appearance from the Left-Handed Elves) that represents a reincarnation of Frandar’s army. Then of course, all of this plays out on top of the capital of the Dwarves.
Beyond the story though I just love the art. I get serious Valley of the Dark Lords vibes from KOTOR in ESO’s Hammerfell. And there’s no way they avoid pulling from the water starved Fremen and Fedaykin from Dune.

Well said. If they do go for the sword singer 'chosen one' trope, I'd love for there to be an option to pursue forbidden techniques like the Pankratosword to potentially become the villain and reach the Far Shores by unmaking Sep's dead skinball of a realm. If it's between High Rock or Hammerfell, then yeah I'd choose Hammerfell. I'm a big fan of the Province the Direnni Elves once ruled, but as it stands, after Cyrodil and Skyrim, I feel a fresh, new environment is needed.
The Savanah, Desert, Arid Plains and vast coastlines will all be well worth the exploration. That, and the Swordsinging will be another delve into the manipulation of the "Song" of the Elder Scroll's universe, as was the Thu'um, and as is Tonal Architecture.
The Yokudan Culture is also something I'm most interested in as well, and I want to see the Yokudan Pantheon of Et'Ada portrayed well, unlike how the Nords of Skyrim have abandoned their Atmoran Animal-Totem Pantheon of Et'Ada

I'll be happy with Hammerfell as the site of the next Elder Scrolls game.
But I really hope they do a couple of things...
    1. No prophecy that the PC is the fulfilment of. Let us rise or fall or make decisions without it being preordained to happen.
    2. Let us chose from a number of pasts for our character. Allow that to influence what our starting skills and abilities are.
    3. Bring back stats. Strength, agility, constitution, etc. let those develop as well based on what we do and how we train our character with higher stats meaning we jump higher for agility or have an easier time learning spells f we have a high intelligence stat.
    4. Allow some choice in actions to influence game events and effects. You refuse to side with someone and you later lose out on a set of side missions maybe can't join a faction or rising to the top leadership position in a faction isn't possible or you get to be champion of an arena game and there's a statue of your character erected outside the arena and certain people, like guards, address you as "Champion."
    5. Finally improve the perk system so that even a perk tree like Lockpicking has some interesting perks in it that might push you towards choosing one.

@@billdavis2590 I think it makes sense why you couldn't side with them. They are in Skyrim as hostile, foreign observers who don't really like/trust people there. Then I got the sense that the High Elves in Skyrim don't like/trust the Thalmor very much. Probably some of them actually came to Skyrim to get away from the Thalmor. So, it would make sense that they won't be looking to recruit locally, beyond an odd job here or there (e.g. Ondolemar in Markarth hiring you to seek a Thalos worshipper, the guy at the embassy who's an informer and some Khajiit assassin near Windhelm). And I think it's ok to keep it that way, not every faction needs to be joinable. Plus, they're not there to conquer, govern or settle in the region, so they'd have a smaller operation than the other factions who are settled there, live there or have their HQ there.
