what really frustrates me is that both of their voice actors are quite good, and Rex sounds like if Wheatley from portal was going through puberty. His accent just makes him come off as so... unlikeable.

The sheer amount of talent that is coming from this voice acting is astronomical. In my years of being a gamer I haven't heard a voice actor put this much effort on a game. Bravo.

It really is not even remotely bad in scenes like this one. It's when Rex has to scream or something that the voice direction just tanks. In casual and comedy scenes, he's pretty decent. He can cry pretty convincingly too.

Man, I hope Elira revitalizes interest in this game. Despite its faults, Xenoblade 2 is the most memorable JRPG I’ve played in years. Fantastic combat system, excellent voice acting, lovable characters, and made me die laughing so many times. There are some questionable plot threads that overstay their welcome a bit, and a few story moments that fell flat for me, but the other aspects of the game more than make up for it. Game had me glowing by the end, with that old “I just beat a good JRPG” feeling.
The game does do stereotypical anime scenes like this. There's also a hot springs scene. The real awesome part? These scenes actually serve purpose for the plot of the characters and aren't just fan service... They are also fan service but not just fan service!
You're right, I didn't. But I do know about the scene where Lora hears Mythra in the next room throwing things at Adam and the Gormotti kid after sleepwalking in, just like what happened here.

There was little to no voice direction for the English dub, and the actors weren't shown the scenes they were doing, so they didn't have any reference on how to act the scenes besides the dialogue. It was also incredibly rushed, so they had very little time to redo bad lines.
Still wonder why Xenoblade 2 choose cheap eng VA, that's really annoying, well i use jp VA so it's not effect me anyway,i play persona 5 use eng VA,and it's very good,so when i play Xenoblade 2,i like "well let's try eng VA for this game" and it's turn out very pretty much sht.

What's funny about his accent though? The ENG voice directing and acting for the game isn't amazing but Idk.. it's just a normal and real accent to me
