To be fair, in the VOD where she finished Ann's confidant, Elira says herself that she only picked Ann because she was curious how romances worked in the game. While I think she genuinely likes Ann now, that leads me to believe that if she finished anybody else's confidant first, she'd like them as much as she likes Ann now. Felt like she "settled" for Ann, instead of actually being her first choice.
Hey, Ann is as cool as Makoto and Futaba. And certainly better than Kasumi and Haru. Nothing against them, but Elira's right about Kasumi being VERY CONSPICUOUSLY absent for most of the game. As for Haru, she often lacks presence, to the point that my fondest memory of her is actually when she starts casually talking to Iwai about the pros and cons of grenade launchers in a fanfic. It's a very good fanfic, mind you. It's called The Black Star. It's by a guy called HassouToby, go read it, it's peak Persona 5 content. And I'm very disillusioned about fanfiction, so trust that I'm not leading you into a cringefest.

Shes a bit too forced to make up for her absence for so much of the game.
I'm with Elira on this one and not even as a meme. Ann reminds me of someone I was friends with like 20+ years ago, which is enough for me to favor her. But also Ann has one of the best low-key moments in the game; when the protag can tell their partner "I love you at one point," everyone else has a "OH GOSH UWU" reaction. Ann though smiles, and very sincerely says, "I love you too." ITS SO GOOD AAAAAAAAAAA

Every other woman in the game is conventionally super attractive, so naturally the character who just looks like a normal person is the least popular waifu. The game also screws her over in a lot of ways. Her skills are among the worst in the game, even with the Royal buffs, giving you little gameplay incentive to pursue her over other powerful nighttime Confidantes like Chihaya and Kawakami. If she had a good story she’d fare better, but her links are also pretty damn boring. The story is quite interesting on paper, but most of it amounts to sitting down in a bar and listening to her talk about it without really being involved in any way. Again, contrast with Confidantes like Iwai and Yoshida, where you are an active agent in their narratives. Framing the player as having an active role helps make the narrative more memorable.
kasumi also picks like the WORST time to ask out joker. Girl went through a full mental breakdown and is like "yeah, I should totally get a boyfriend before working through my issues fully"
They’re all pretty much standalone games. think P5 in design is the best starting point and from there you have P3 remake coming out soon. They’re pretty long JRPG but really really well done!
I started with p5R, haven't finished yet (am almost 80% done) and I tell you, it's very worth your time playing. Will play p4 golden when I'm done with p5 (might play it again cause I don't want to harem all girls in one run, I'm loyal..kinda? 😅)
I've not finished the game yet but she's too superficial for me, wants to model even though she doesn't like it, let's the other model walk all over and either acts dumb or is dumb to not notice she's being played a fool. Like Doppio said, she's not a bad character but the others are so much better.
Ann just isn't given as much screen time as Makoto, Futaba or Kasumi. Those three have more direct importance to the story. I think this is why Ann(and Haru) are usually at the bottom of most people's female party member lists. They aren't as important to the story as others are. Ann is my favorite regardless of this. She's the kind of person you could call one of the boys, even though she is very feminine. That's basically my type.
Personally, ann was kind of the only phantom thief girl I even considered romancing. The others were fine as friends and futaba was amazing but felt like a little sister, but ann was the only one I was interested in dating in game((besides Chihaya, an option I consider very underrated). I really like how she kind of cares the most out of everyone in the group, how she understands joker and never believed the rumors about him, and joker canonically finds her hot which was another reason for me to go for her

But like doppio said, she is also pretty basic.

First girls supremacy? Knowing harem and shoujo manga logic. It's Yukari and Chie for the MCs. Their characters are well-written and they are sweet too. First girls archatype who put on a tough mask but sweet to the MCs and girl next door vibe with underdog story who thinks they couldn't get the suave cool MCs is the flag. Underdog is the flag. Yukari and Chie parallel (Chie always getting Yukari's costume, catchphrase, they also meet a gang in SLs then the MCs came, came to accept the MCs's help, etc). The MCs can be whatever they want for the future because Yukari and Chie would support them no matter what while they're not be bounded by anything. It's best for whatever future they have for the MCs.
Futaba is most definitely not the most popular choice. She's the most talked about choice because people have problems pidgeonholing her as Joker's "sister" so they feel amoral if she gets romanced. So the Futaba enjoyers get trashed by these people. Ann is 100% the most popular choice simply because she was more often than not the first possible choice. The next two would be Tae for horny reasons and Kawakami for gameplay reasons. I'd include Hifumi for gameplay reasons as well but since she was introduced in royal, she's by nature a less popular choice than most of the base game options.
As a person who smacked more than 1200 Hours in P5 and P5R combined and have dated every girl once per playthrough (yes i went through 12 playthroughs of the game dating only one girl) i can assure ewiwa that i too chose Ann as my first choice during my first playthrough 😂😂😂 and ive deducted as well that the reason why most people date ann is cuz 1) they love blonde hot girls 2) Statistically speaking shes the highest probability to reach Rank 9 first before any of the female cast of the game 😂😂😂 My personal favorite choice tho was Chihaya the fortune teller
Chihaya was honestly my #2 choice after ann. On my first plsythrough, I wasn't interested in anybody but ann really. Then I went through chihaya's confidant and was like "am I actually feeling conflicted after all these hours?"
as much as I like Violet, she truly is ALOT of wasted potential given they didn't want to upset the original Persona 5 plot with this new character, so much time you couldn't spend with her just to due to that alone...Ann is simply better because YES you can do alot more with her
In return, you got a lot more one on one time with Kasumi just through out. Not having a date for the big romance events sucked but you definitely spent a lot of time with Kasumi too.

To be fair, I also didn't use Ann much in battle, but that's mainly due to my builds. I prefer physical/gun builds so Ann just doesn't work all that well. Once you get a good auto-buffer persona and a good physical crit build set up, Joker can pretty much auto win almost the entire game with just physical attacks and mona as a battery. Infact, the game was so easy even on royal that I managed to beat it solo on the hardest diff. The hardest boss was probably the last boss. Having an attack that immediately lowers resistence towards anything was completely unfair.

Doppio literally cannot justify that opinion. Not with Kasumi being his favorite. If he liked Makoto or Futaba, or Kawakami, or even the Goth Doctor, that would be one thing, but he prefers the hastily written in character who for 90% of the game is given a handful of short events just to remind you she exists until you're allowed to play as her for _part_ of the final dungeon. Not even the whole thing. Actually, though, what's really damning is that he didn't even use Ann. Did he actually believe her terrible ditz act was real or something? Yes, Doppio, Elira used Ann in battle. You know all those enemies in the game who are weak to fire that Joker can't one-shot? Yeah, she's for them. And for anything else that could use an Agidyne or burst from an SMG.

I will have to side with Elira here, Ann is quite a good girl, albeit a little bit airheaded she puts helping others before herself, and by endgame she's basically the best magic user by far... Though I also will have to admit I chose her on my second playthrough, as I chose best girl from the very beginning Kawamommy.
Me who played persona 5 for the protagonist and Ryuji but stayed for Yusuke and Akechi. I never romanced a girl i just wanted my homies ( aka me crying because I couldn't romance a guy)

First girls supremacy? Knowing harem and shoujo manga logic. It's Yukari and Chie for the MCs. Their characters are well-written and they are sweet too. First girls archatype who put on a tough mask but sweet to the MCs and girl next door vibe with underdog story who thinks they couldn't get the suave cool MCs is the flag. Underdog is the flag.
Yukari and Chie parallel (Chie always getting Yukari's costume, catchphrase, they also meet a gang in SLs then the MCs came, came to accept the MCs's help, etc). The MCs can be whatever they want for the future because Yukari and Chie would support them no matter what while they're not be bounded by anything. It's best for whatever future they have for the MCs.

Futaba is most definitely not the most popular choice. She's the most talked about choice because people have problems pidgeonholing her as Joker's "sister" so they feel amoral if she gets romanced. So the Futaba enjoyers get trashed by these people.
Ann is 100% the most popular choice simply because she was more often than not the first possible choice. The next two would be Tae for horny reasons and Kawakami for gameplay reasons. I'd include Hifumi for gameplay reasons as well but since she was introduced in royal, she's by nature a less popular choice than most of the base game options.

As a person who smacked more than 1200 Hours in P5 and P5R combined and have dated every girl once per playthrough (yes i went through 12 playthroughs of the game dating only one girl) i can assure ewiwa that i too chose Ann as my first choice during my first playthrough 😂😂😂 and ive deducted as well that the reason why most people date ann is cuz 1) they love blonde hot girls 2) Statistically speaking shes the highest probability to reach Rank 9 first before any of the female cast of the game 😂😂😂 My personal favorite choice tho was Chihaya the fortune teller

Chihaya was honestly my #2 choice after ann. On my first plsythrough, I wasn't interested in anybody but ann really. Then I went through chihaya's confidant and was like "am I actually feeling conflicted after all these hours?"

as much as I like Violet, she truly is ALOT of wasted potential given they didn't want to upset the original Persona 5 plot with this new character, so much time you couldn't spend with her just to due to that alone...Ann is simply better because YES you can do alot more with her
In return, you got a lot more one on one time with Kasumi just through out. Not having a date for the big romance events sucked but you definitely spent a lot of time with Kasumi too.
@@Jaxter0987 sadly that's just part of the story and in no way is that compensation, I want to PICK the girl for the scene not have the story have her doing mostly platonic banter....I am sorry to say Violet got majorly shafted how the story wanted to shape, I still say this to my friends, Violet should have been allowed to join at Shidos palace then she could be around for Momentos palace you could have added more scenes to work around the added time they gave her, sadly calling the quality of the time you Violet does not make up for the lack of time you get to spend with her so I kinda have to disagree with you

@@KingMufasa_8 but Marie was never meant to be playable there's a huge difference with that, sure she influenced the story but you never felt like you lacked the time while on the other hand they advertised Violet as a new PLAYABLE character but barely gave you time to actually use her or date her if you so wanted, nope that isn't even the same...the only thing they have in common was new character I guess what the problem was expectation vs reality...and don't give me well its your own fault you expected too much... I don't think that it's not too much for a PLAYABLE character they should be usable for a good chunk of the game which Violet was not, all I am hearing is people just giving excuses, if you were fine with Violet's minimal playable role, that's fine, but people should stop trying to tell me otherwise, cause I frankly don't wanna hear it

To be fair, I also didn't use Ann much in battle, but that's mainly due to my builds. I prefer physical/gun builds so Ann just doesn't work all that well. Once you get a good auto-buffer persona and a good physical crit build set up, Joker can pretty much auto win almost the entire game with just physical attacks and mona as a battery. Infact, the game was so easy even on royal that I managed to beat it solo on the hardest diff. The hardest boss was probably the last boss. Having an attack that immediately lowers resistence towards anything was completely unfair.

Doppio literally cannot justify that opinion. Not with Kasumi being his favorite. If he liked Makoto or Futaba, or Kawakami, or even the Goth Doctor, that would be one thing, but he prefers the hastily written in character who for 90% of the game is given a handful of short events just to remind you she exists until you're allowed to play as her for _part_ of the final dungeon. Not even the whole thing.
Actually, though, what's really damning is that he didn't even use Ann. Did he actually believe her terrible ditz act was real or something? Yes, Doppio, Elira used Ann in battle. You know all those enemies in the game who are weak to fire that Joker can't one-shot? Yeah, she's for them. And for anything else that could use an Agidyne or burst from an SMG.
Yeah, really putting the “dope” in Doppio. I never was a fan of Royal so Kasumi is really kind of a cardboard box in terms of appeal and standing out for me.
