I've been using a lot of extended samples in my recent work. One uses a huge siren test with glissando guitar overlay, for another I used some factory noise mixed with procedurally generated tones. The results are surprisingly ambient albeit possibly not to everyone's taste, yep I've been having fun :D

It’s great to hear someone very openly and honestly talking through their mix process and their thinking behind it, making you think of your own processes and thoughts during the mix, very refreshing and relaxing, when I first saw how long the video was I was thinking I’d not be able to keep my concentration, but it was easy, Sara is very engaging and entertaining throughout, never loses her flow or target, very good video, well done!

Sweet, thank you Sara! I make music using piano, strings, bass and drums so this was right up my alley. Most videos are not relevant as they woth with crappy plastic drums, 808's, pads and hard auto-tuned vocals. So thank you (and thanks to Warren for invting you on his channel!). Sara Carter - what's not to love? The only thing I would question is the genre definition - this isn't "classical" music at all; the term "neo-classical" has been applied to Hindemith and Stravinsky already and refers to use of things like Sonata form. I'm not knocking the music in any way, I just think it's a form of ambient music and would suit a different description. I could listen to Sara explain engineering and production till the cows come home and I'm really glad you've covered this side of things. I've been doing quite a bit of orchestral / ambient cinematic stuff recently, so this is bang on! Thank you so much

Hi Warren, I have 12 pieces of strings (4+4+2+2, vln 1, vln 2, vla y vc) but for matters of budget there were recorded as isolated individual tracks in close position. Can you show us how you approach a strings mixing and emulation of the space/room in that scenario?? I think first use a emulation of spaces/reverb that allow me to choose the position of the instruments and then treat them like a stereo track and mix it, what do you think?
