One of the first things I did when I separated from the US Army in '81, was to buy a Gold Star '81 G11HF Arch-Top at the Fifth String in San Francisco. Many miles since then with my little 5-string friend, including snapping and repairing the headstock on 3 separate occasions. Right now, it's still sounds as good as it ever was.

Gibson Snobs, been dealing with those since I was 14 years old playing my GS Archtop. They usually get upset when my $900 banjo sounds better than there Gibson that costs the price of a good used car. "If it sounds good, play it" best advice ever.

Exactly and nothing stops anyone from making THIER own except excuses. In America, there's many who have tools you may lack and new friendships made as a result. Making your own is not cheap if going for quality but depending on brand names it can save you a few grand. Research like crazy and go for it.

Picked up an 81 GF100FE tonight, I’m excited about it.

Those early Gold Stars are the best, I want a flathead early 80s eventually myself to add to the collection.

When I listened to this, the audio was badly flawed. Not great advertstng for Gold Star.
