Who would have thought that when I found your videos that I could be so captivated by banjo maintenance and repair ? My uncle played the banjo and I never really appreciated the care that he put into his banjos. Thanks for your channel and I look forward to learning a lot more in the future.

Love the older 80's Gold Star banjos. They sounded better then some of the Gibson's from that same era. I had a Gold Star arch top from that time that I wish I still had. Great Ralph Stanley tone with that model.

You can really hear the difference...very educational. Now I know some things to look at on my Gold Star! Thanks

How long, and how hard, is it to learn to play? Call me crazy…but I’m 76 and you are so inspirational to me!

It’s never the wrong time to learn something new. I am a banjo teacher and festivals, camps, and privately and I currently have a 78, 82, and 91 year old student!

It's a lifetime of learning. To get really good you literally have to be born banjo in hand.😅 However, there is nothing to stop anyone learning and enjoying the banjo. Just don't expect too much too fast. Speaking from experience it's fun and can be frustrating at times because we expect a lot of return. Slow and steady is the way to improve. Good luck. 👍

Do you ever do setups when you're on the road? I'd like one when you're in Nashville area.

Hello Lincoln, I have a Top of the line Saga copy of the Gibson Bella Voice I bought 45 years ago. It’s always had a beautiful ring and tone, but not so much anymore. I don’t know what kind of head is on it , so I’m going to order a new Remo. However, it’s anyone’s guess what crown height I need . Any thoughts would be helpful. I’m learning about banjo set up and your video’s are very informative. Thank you ,

So just by watching your picking you pick more with your middle finger than your index I've found Scruggs style is a better more melodic style of the primitive Two finger
